Will eventually build a Shadow Box for both of my late Parents (WW2 Navy Vets) name plates & medals awarded. Also will likely put on her Second Cousin, Maurice Britt’s awards. He was awarded the CMOH, DSC, SS , two BS, four PH, CIB in WW2
Well, I hope my video gives you some ideas. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions. Sounds like your family is full of American Heros.
I've never had anyone complain to me about scratches... but you are right it will scratch easily. I prefer the lean over the Optix acrylics. They seem to hold up better.
I snip the posts off short, so there is still a little bit to sink into the backing. The hot glue ultimately keeps everything in place. If you have a back panel that is 1/2" thick or use a layer of foam, youvwould not need to do this.
I have my solid oak shadow box in my basement next to my water heater gathering mold and dust because I have lost faith in man and usa. I do have Faith in my Lord Jesus Christ.
@@DadItYourselfDIY Yeah, it is.... But I don't feel connected to Military anymore the way this country is going. In fact, I now throw away my u.s. flags when they are old. I used to take them to american legion or vfw. ( notice the lower case letters- a sign of DISRESPECT)
It's a shame that you feel this way, or perceive it this way. I am currently driving from the west coast to the east coast across the upper Midwest. There are a lot of great American living the dream in a beautiful part of the country.
That’s great work or Goat!❤ Navy Chief Navy Pride.
Hooyah!
Looks great...I might need one done for myself!
👍👍🫡
Great video..great box! How would YOU mount the box on a wall? Maybe the video could show the viewers?
It's set up with picture frame clips. So a couple of nails on 16" centers and hung on a wall.
BZ Awesome Video, shadow box, well done shippers
Thanks buddy!

I love this!! How would you adhere a heavy item? Like a folger Adam key?
I use hot glue for everything. But if it's really heavy and small piece of copper wire or fishing line through the backing is an option.
How well does the acrylic hold up to cleaning? In my experience it scratches easily.

Is the folded flag just for fallen soldiers? Or is it able to be used for all soldiers?
The folded flag is for all. It symbolizes service to country. The tricorn fold is the standard.
@@DadItYourselfDIY thanks, good to know!
Did you cut the backings off the rank devices and medals?

@@DadItYourselfDIY thank you! I need to remount some of my items that fell off.
Hot glue is awesome!
Two good dudes!
Ha.. Just good at covering our tracks.. ;)
Is the plexi glass sitting on top of the wood?
It sits in a rabbit with a piece of trim to retain it in place
@@DadItYourselfDIY thank you sir 😊
You're very welcome!
Are you going to make yours yourself?
Probably.. It would be hard to pay someone to do it, I think I would be too critical..
Hello. Where can i purchase army emblems
The local post exchange, Amazon, eBay, andva variety of other companies that cater to the military community. Google is your friend.

Such a shame. It's about YOUR service.
