    This is one of the most educational videos that I have ever seen on United States Military Medals. Your professionalism and attention to details is what makes your company head and shoulders above any other. Thank you so much for the education!

    Howdy Colonel, thank you for bringing attention to our greatest “silent” generation. We lose more and more of these veterans every day and the history of WW2 goes with them. Of the couple of WW2 veterans that I have met, they were so old and in such a condition they were unable to speak of their time in war. Another veteran I found out only after his passing that he was a highly decorated Marine, during his time with us here you would have never known. You are doing an amazing job Sir. Gig’Em

    My dad like many WWII veterans would not talk much about his service. I have his uniform and I thank you for your explanation. Looks like he was entitled to wear more ribbons than he did. I have only found one actual medal in a box and that is his air medal. It was awarded to him seven times. He was a B-26 pilot and flew 44 missions over Germany. Six more missions and I believe he would have been awarded the distinguished flying cross. During the gulf war I asked him if he wanted to get in 6 more runs and he said he would but the Army was out of B-26s. 😀. Just a few weeks ago I found a box of letters he sent to his parents during the war and after while he was waiting to come home. There were a lot of details he didn’t talk about that I never knew. Knowing my dad, he probably knew he entitled to wear a lot more ribbons but didn’t because that’s the way he was.

    It was nice to see that our military gave honor to our troops no matter where they were to show a legacy of their service. Todays military has become convoluted and thus makes it difficult to impossible to be awarded for the achievements they participated in.

  • @daviddion3731
    @daviddion3731 2 роки тому +1

    Just for clarification: at 16:06, you referred to this Navy “crow” as a “Chief Petty Officer”, however, the three red lower chevrons represents a First Class Petty Officer (E-6), not a Chief Petty Officer (E-7). The Chief Petty Officer rating badge (“crow”), would have, and still does, an Upper curved Chevon in addition to the lower three “V” style Chevrons. Keep up the good work.

    A minor correction, intended constructively: The CIB is correctly called the "Combat Infantryman Badge", not the "Combat Infantry Badge" nor the "Combat Infantryman’s (nor Infantrymen’s) Badge". And not to split hairs, but the USAAF was called the "Army Air Forces" (i.e. plural), not the "Army Air Force".
    You showed several WWII medals my father had, including one or two that he never knew he’d been authorized. (He was a USAAF B-24 pilot.) I’ll look for your books.
