Hallo Steve, Mich erfreuen immer wieder deine Ideen 💡 und Erklärungen die Hand und Fuß haben. Du begleitest deine Kunden mit deinen Verbesserungen und Tips. Danke für die vielen Videos. Grüße Michael
Love the New Improvements to the Pot. The Ability to check your baking temp with the new thermometer is very Welcomed addition. The New Roof Rack is also a great idea as it Turns the Pot into more like a dutch oven. I can't wait to see what you come up with next..............
Steve, I'm ready to order my Zebra pot with accessories. Could I get you guys to tap the hole for the thermometer in the pot for me? I don't own a drill. Is that possible for you guys to help me with that? Also, I have the Nano with trangia burner w/hose. Is the fuel bottle all I need from you guys, or does it need to be one of the butane/mixed fuel canisters from REI or similar store? Thanks in advance, Laura in Pittsburgh.
Lellobeetle Sure, I would be happy to do that for you. Please add a note in the comment field of your order to remind me. Please note that since we don't have commercial machining tools the hole may not be absolutely perfect, but I will do my best to do a nice job. The Trangia Gas burner attachment uses the short aluminum bottles that are found in REI type stores. Adapters are available from Amazon for use with the two other bottle types available. Thanks so much, Steve
LOL I am watching everyone of your videos waiting for my new 16cm pot and gear to get to me. The biscuits looked great and can not wait to make my own! Another great video. I have put your site and products I have bought on several of my Pinterest boards and hope your Billy pots and oven kits sell like made! Truly a game changer for baking out in the field because it's got to beat the soup can method lol. Thanks again Firebox Stove for awesome field gear!
Brilliant again, Chef. It's looking like you can take the chef out of the cookery, but you can't take the cooking out of the chef -- thank goodness! I was hoping you'd offer the top rack. And the thermometer addition is, well, brilliant! Continued success!
great video! I love the Two stoves and the accessories that i purchased. i like the rock idea and it reminds me of those gas grills with the lava rock. which made me think that would be a light way to carry some rocks for those who may not be in an area with small stones or want to go and find them. If i can find them at a gardening store locally i will let you know how it works. thanks again, also thank you for the great customer service both on the website and in these videos that allow us to enjoy the products we bought from you even more. seems like a great way to keep us happy and coming back for more.
Hey Steve, I have seen the Z pot a lot but was never interested in it till i seen you baking in it .And the way you set it up! Now i have to have one. THANKS James.
Steve, great additions. I've been away from the Tube for a while. It's great to see this. I'm going to have to make an investment in these fairly soon. I think this is going to be great come the fall and winter season.
Great video. Thank you. Love your setup . I plan on purchasing the 16 cm. Pot Baking Set up with the Big Firebox Stove shortly. Have you tried pre Heating extra rocks to place on top under the coals to create an evener top & bottom temperature?
No, I haven't tried that. I like the way you think. On the top of you need a lot of heat and I don't think you could get the rocks quite hot enough to actually transfer a Browning temperature through the pot but it might be fun trying it out. Thanks!
Cooked a Poussin/small chicken tonight in your modified zebra 16cm and on the Ti firebox....using your wood pellet technique of inverting the ash pan/blocking the base air holes to slow the burn....and using charcoal on top of the zebra... It works very well....removed the ash pan towards the end to get some more air into/and life out of the remaining pellets. The Zebra warped slightly oval but I don't see any potential effects on performance, so meh.... Have you tried "Ceramic Baking Beans" as a thermal mass ? I used 9.2 oz / 260g of them in the zebra... The bird cooked in the same time as a conventional oven ! The ceramic beans seem to hold heat for a long time...as you say, like a fly wheel in an engine. So far your stoves, cook systems and accessories have way surpassed anything I've used before.... Thanks for the gear and the videos 👍 I've learned a lot.
Thank you for watching and for your comment. We are glad our products are working well for you. We appreciate your support and hope you have a blast out there!
Excellent. I've been waiting for you to sell the roof rack. The thermometer looks great too. Want to order but I don't see them on your website yet. When will they be listed? Thanks.
you just use normal every day recipes for bread? Also i know you use this with your firebox but could this method work with multi fuel and gas stoves as well?
Instead of a rack on top why not just make a small open top fire box that can sit on top and you just add a small fire in it on top? That would give you constant coals resting on top. Just a thought.
hi Steve. Is it possible to order items from you and get them send over to the UK ? the zebra billy cans only come with plastic clips, and I could do with some metal ones.
thanks for the tips mine billy can is oval the lit did't fit any more i will make a tool to get it round so the lit will fit again thanks for the video
I've always heard that you should never use river rocks in a fire pit, as the moisture could expand & explode from the heat. A non-porous rock would be best! Granite, basalt, gneiss (and other igneous & metamorphic rocks) for example. Thermal mass is the goal here, to diffuse the concentration of heat, like a baffle. Since you are using this mass to heat food, I advise sterilizing this mass (with high heat, say 500° as in an oven) to a temperature that is higher than this stove could produce. That way, you can assure there is no off gassing of the mass (trapped particles within the mass) into your food! Always a good practice! NOTE: As with any rock found in nature (or man made) there could be mold, fungus, feces, urine, or who knows what leaching from its surroundings. It's an ugly truth, but must be said!
I ordered this zebra pot and really wanted to like it but the handle on these things is sharp and cuts into my hands when pouring water. Really wish zebra would round the edges on these handles as they are extremely uncomfortable to poor anything with 🤷♂️
@@fireboxstove idk maybe thats why many replace the handle with a cable. Its really only a problem when you lock the bail and then try to poor with it as the weight of what you are pouring makes the thin edge of the handle press on hand. Could be that most people are not pouring with a locked handle with these but hanging or just holding the handle from a normal angle. My theory anyway but thank you for the reply. That freestyle kit is awesome by the way. Loving mine 😁

very clever. I have a More pot from 4 dog stove so not sure if this would work, so might have to invest in a new pot lol.
Edward Petrie If there is a way of holding the lid on I'm sure it would work.
Thanks!

FireboxStove I found them and just ordered both the rack and thermometer. Can't wait to use them! Thanks again.
Mark
sameold77 Thanks for the order Mark! Please check back and let us know what you think.
Hey Steve, I just checked your site a couple days ago and didn't find the roof rack on the product listing.
Parabéns 👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷
Thank you!
Anyway I could call and ask a few questions about the billy pot and other accessories for my titanium g2 5”?
Yes for sure, our phone number is 801-372-9234. Thanks!

+Billy Sherratt Yes, we ship to most parts of the world. Fireboxstove.com
Thanks for asking!
Hi Steve
Many thanks for the reply :-)
thanks for the tips mine billy can is oval the lit did't fit any more i will make a tool to get it round so the lit will fit again
thanks for the video
henk Schutte Thanks for the info Henk, Mine wasn't out very much, Do you use the rocks in the bottom of your pot? Please keep me in the loop.
FireboxStove yes i use rock at the bottom but the heat crack the stones and yes i will gif you the result
henk Schutte That sounds pretty hot, were your baking times pretty fast? I haven't had a rock crack in mine yet.
Maby its was a bad rock with a crack i don't know
Hi Steve,
Can you use any rocks or only certain ones?
The rocks we use are ones that hold heat well. You don't want a sand rock or anything that would fall apart.
Firebox Stove thank you so much! going to wow the family on the next outing. Love your videos!

I suppose the handle could be a little more rounded over but honestly you are the first person to raise this concern.
