I just did yesterday Dutch oven country style ribs with some McCormick Muskie marinate. After marinating I poured the juice in a little bit of water cook for about an hour and then put potatoes and fresh corn tots. Total cook time an hour and a half nice boil very tender
Looked delicious! I noticed the corn muffins from the other vid in the background. LOL! I just made a corn bread in my 12" cast iron skillet a couple nights ago. Just in the oven though. I think I might make some buttermilk biscuits tonight. I have some buttermilk left over that I don't want to throw away. Good trick with adding the un lit charcoal on the lid of the DO. Those are the kind of things you learn with experience. Great job!
I like that you share your secrets with us... I'm a fellow brother of the thin blue smoke and I'll tell ya alot of people won't tell you anything. I always share my recipes. I believe it's everyone's right in the beautiful United States of America to eat and cook their own food! Foos is ment to be shared and sir, your ribs look awesome!
What would happen if I put the chips right under the foil? Wouldent want to damage my Dutch oven but maybe more smoke because it's in direct contact with the iron... just a thought.. or I guess just add more chips!
would make no difference, would be better to have the chips already smoking first then put them on, for more smoke.but you have to be carefull as too much smoke would make the meat bitter as there is no air flow in the dutch oven
Thanks for sharing! I am going to try the dutch oven method. Any ideas for a hotter bbq sauce? (i was thinking tabasco or paprika but i am afraid to mess up the plate). Cheers!
I'm a novice at DO cooking, so far I am loving it. Gonna try smoking some ribs iaw your guidelines. I also want to try that FROG jam. Wen you say 3 tbs FROG jam. Is that 3tbs ea; fig, raspberry, orange & ginger? And thanx for sharing.
I guess their idea of long burning is that it burns longer than original Kingsford. Still no comparison to our favorite, which is Stubbs All Natural. Available on our Amazon store if you can't find it at Lowes or Walmart.
Just wondering if you plan to ever try out plain wood charcoal on the grill/Dutch oven? It burns a heck of hotter for a longer time than the bricketts.
It was obvious that was not your first time cooking ribs.! Also it looked like you had a good quality rack of ribs to work with. Well done. I have never seen that DO set up putting the chips in the bottom. I like it.! Thanks for the idea...
nice vid m8, you can actualy cook a full rack rack of ribs in the dutch by just making a ring out of them and tying up with butcher twine.just flip halfway through cook for even cooking.
I was considering that, but I'm trying to do some easy stuff for the beginner audience which is fairly large here. This half rack was perfect for 2 people. Notice also that I used the thick end of the rack.
Them are some fine looking pigcicles! You might want to get about a foot-long pigtail flipper off Amazon; should make your meat handling a lot easier... Chickens can be a chore; as a kid we had freerange ones. About the only time we ever saw a snake, a chicken was dragging its corpse around to chow down on it...
Backwoods Gourmet Channel , From what I know about the Amazon affiliate links it doesn't matter what you have on your store . As long as I clicked on your link and buy something ,doesn't matter what it is , you will get a percentage . Apparently clicking on your link is good for 24 hours . If 12 hours later I sign in to Amazon and buy diapers you will still get a percentage . This is one of the reasons I suggested to you on doing this a couple of weeks ago .... I'm glad it seems to be working out and good luck with your ventures , I'm definitely saving your link for future purchases. :)
Backwoods Gourmet Channel , That's awesome ! :) Who won the muffin Pan and the "name this dish Asian fusion tacos", competition ... Just curious . I'm making your chicken and dumplings for the family today ,..8 people. I've come to the conclusion that I need a larger Dutch oven , this 10 in. Lodge just isn't cutting it . Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work . :)

@@BackwoodsGourmetChannel thanx for your reply. Can you buy this FROG jam already bottled up and if not, you got a recipe for a batch?

How'd ya like the Kingsford Long-Burning charcoal? Did they make a difference?

Yes, I think we will do that on the dish I'm filming today. It has been a while since we used lump charcoal.
I can't find the recipe for your ribs?
Nice VS video, would love to see others. Ribs look delicious 😋
Taking suggestions. Thanks for watching

Great vs idea, but what about a beer?😀
Plenty of beer was harmed during the production of this video.

No, because there are so many out there already. There are a few on our Amazon Store right now.
Too bad, our loss.
