Props to the girl's friend in the first story for recognizing abusive and manipulative behavior at such a young age. We don't prepare enough kids to stand up to that kind of shit.
Now, in basically any other instance, threats of suicide and self-harm are serious and should be treated seriously. But in the context of someone making demands re: a relationship with you: if they say they're gonna slit their wrists, ignore the sorry fucker. Even if they aren't lying about having the impulse (which they almost always are) their mental health is their own issue that they have to deal with, and the alternative is giving up your entire existence to a controlling lil shit.

I had a flashback to when i was in high school and a friend was in an emotionally abusive relationship....i tried telling her it was abuse and to dump his sorry ass, she deserved better etc. and her response still bothers me today. She just looked at me completely baffled and said his behavior showed that he really loved her. WTF? so incredibly sad that so many young girls have this warped thinking.
@@brookem4904 It isn't just women that have that problem. I'm a guy that was stuck in an emotionally and psychologically abusive relationship. She kept me locked into it via threats of suicide. I didn't have a friend that recognized it, so I had to eventually get to that point myself. Eventually, I got out. She killed herself shortly after, blaming me in her suicide note. So, for anyone wondering, this is not isolated to any particular kind of person.

Young lady in the first story, if a man threatens to kill himself because you no longer want to be with him or talk to him then tell him you will happily serve as the Grim Reaper at his funeral and say "sayonara".

A friend of mine was going to hook up with a girl he met on a dating site. He went to her "house", and surprise, she looked exactly like her photos. But when my friend went into the bathroom, a guy with a sawed off shotgun held him up and robbed him for the little amount of money he had. And the girl was in on it. They got away but were arrested when others came forth and revealed the girl pulled the same shit on them. But the weird thing was, it was always at different houses.

Those RP days lol! There was a chat room that was like Rhyden(?) tavern that I was always in on AOL Chats. I actually got a funny story from that. Back in 2008 a friend of mine told me that she recommended me to some dude in my town that was looking to find a vocalist for his band. She set up for us to meet at a Stop & Shop. I agreed and met the dude at the store who was this little malnourished looking dude wearing eye liner and the clothes you'd expect from a generic local emo dude of that time. We go to his house which turned out to be like 5 minutes from mine and we do the whole jam thing and trying out different songs with his band members. I was a little annoyed cause this dude was acting like he was too cool for school and decided to leave but asked for his AIM name so we can keep in touch and he tells me his name is ZeroKid and a few numbers. When I see that name my brain just starts going into overtime, the wheels start turning and I flash back to 2001/2002 when I was in middle school and RPing heavy. I know this name.. I talked to this person every single day for hours until like 04, 05, we were really good friends online through those years. One thing was off though because Zerokid### was a girl that lived in Cali and this is a dude in Mass. I just chuckled and said "oh shit" he looks at me like "What's up?" And I just looked at him smiling and said "I thought you were a girl" he was just like what?? Everything got awkward.. It was him, me, my girlfriend, his girlfriend and his band makes like huh? I asked him where he was from originally, and his girl said he was from Cali then I told him my old Aim name lol then he figured it out. This dude had moved from Cali the year before and he was that girl I use to talk to and when cybered with way back in the day. That son of a bitch tricked me. We all laughed about it when I was leaving, but we never spoke again. It's a small world lol.

My abusive ex stalked me online for years. Luckily he couldn't find me physically but the last time he tried to contact me through Facebook he threatened to kill himself if I wouldn't take him back. I told him go ahead because I don't care and changed all my social media once again. I haven't heard from him in over a year, so either I was able to hide better this time or he finally gave up. People, if your ex threatens to kill themself over you DO NOT take them back. This is horrific manipulation. If you genuinely think they will do it call emergency services and they will take care of it. Do not feel guilty, it is not your fault. You are not responsible for a grown adult's decisions.

Always meet in a public place- no matter how “well” you know them and especially no matter “how well” you know yourself, meaning don’t go somewhere private to meet someone even if you think you can hold your own.
Pro tip: movies still aren’t public. Go to a cafe. I’ve gone to the movies with someone I met online and was touched inappropriately once the lights turned down after knowing this guy for all of 30 minutes in person. Even after saying no- he continued. Only when I called my mother to pick me up (I was 15 at the time) and hid in the bathroom, was I able to get away.

I feel so weird about this. I actually met my husband on a dating site. I've recommended it to friends because things went so well for us. We've been together almost 14 years, and married 11 next weekend. It creeps me out that I had such a positive experience, while others have had very, very bad experiences.
Why? It's no different than anything else- restaurants, salons, doctors, etc. One person has a great experience and another has a bad experience. Hell, millions of people get simple outpatient procedures every year- endoscopy, biopsy, ablation, colonoscopy, etc- with zero issues and yet a few people have gone to the same facilities, had the same doctor and gotten the same procedure and not have it end well at all.

I was nearly catfished by some online predator. Well I don't know exactly if I interacted with a predator but I speculated that the alleged predator was a predator because he showed suspicious signs of a typical stalker.
He would act like he knows everything about me and lie about himself. He lied about his height and birthday. He told me that he'a 5' 4" and he's actually 6' 0". I'm a short girl and he thought that bcuz I'm short therefore i must like short guys so he lied thinking I will like him. He tried way too hard to get me to like him and he would go crybaby when I'm busy with life offline. He would act like I died when I don't instant message him. He lied about his birthday telling me that it's the day after mine. He was lying to make it look like we have a lot in common(we have nothing in common). He asked for a picture of me and I never gave him a picture of me. I hardly share pics of myself bcuz I don't trust certain people.
On Valentine's Day of this year I found out he lied to me about his b-day and height. He then confessed his disgusting infatuation with me. He asked in a creepy desperate tone via a written comment, "Can we be together?" Keep in mind, I've only known him for a few DAYS and suddenly he wants me to be his girlfriend. One of my close friends intervened and he told her to not interfere. I bet that he meant he didn't want my close friend to "interfere with our love". I muted that son of a bitch and he never spoke to me again. I suspect that he's trying to stalk me because he's the type of deluded demented sicko who can't take no as an answer.
If he's trying to stalk me right now, he's going nowhere in his life
