This is why I took up painting miniatures, (like for tabletop miniatures games and D&D.) I needed something that would require lots of focus, and small delicate, percise movement. My Neurologist & Neuropsychologist diagnosed me with a myriad of conditions after a severe concussion, including epilepsy, occipital neuralgia, cervical spinal stenosis, and they told me I had CTE. I didn't know the living could be diagnosed with CTE, but apparently now they can; I should include that both doctors were actually state board members over their fields of medicine, and they did several thousands of dollars in tests, (that was the cost after insurance.) So I whole heartedly believe them.

I'd never felt that feeling of 'awe' until I started taking an antidepressant. My whole life had just been stress, violence and BS. After a few months of being in the pills plus removing all unnecessary stress, I sat back one day and looked at the hills surrounding the city, listened to the birds, felt the sun on my skin, it felt like a huge relief. Now I take the time everyday to appreciate the people and environment surrounding us. It's a beautiful world we live in, sometimes we just need to slow ourselves down and be present in the moment.
This is a FAR more important thing than people realize. I’m 75 years old and my mind is sharp as a knife. Here’s the routine you can do everyday to keep the “awe” factor in your life constant: •Wake up at 2:45 am, 3 foot line of coke •2:46 am finish cleaning the ceiling •2:48 am you’re now at the store but you don’t remember how you got there • 4:00 pm you don’t remember it’s ok, another 3 foot line of coke • 4:01 pm coke for lunch • nature walk • 4:45 pm forcefully join a yoga class, it’s ok, it’s outdoors • 5:00 pm jail • 4:45 pm it’s ok it was a false memory • wake up at 2:46 am
Ironically, when I was in an environment that constantly filled me with awe and also had all kinds of my interests and passion accessible, was also the first time I fell into a depression cycle which was a precursor to epileptic seizure. I think too much awe might have fried my brain

Good news for me!! I've been married for 21 years and I'm constantly in awe of my spouse. Why? I told my parents during covid lockdown that my grandparents should still have frequent visits and get out because I figured it would be worse to die lonely than die of covid. Neither died but both live alone. They had visits a few times a week but the visits were brief and I'm not sure there was any physical touch that first year. I myself am high risk and have kids and didn't have a vehicle back then so I didn't visit them often that first year or two. But both of them have declined so much mentally. One lives with me now and gets hugs multiple times a day. The one who doesn't live with me gets more frequent visits and hugs now.
This is going to sound strange, but as someone who has grown up in a drought-ridden place for the majority of her life, I can say that seeing distinguishable seasons this year has filled me with awe. We had an actual winter this year, with rain and COLD temperatures. There was SNOW on the mountains near us! Now it's spring, and for the first time in what's felt like ages, the world around me isn't brown and dead or struggling. There are green plants and flowers everywhere as life comes back. Seeing the world move through its seasons fills me with awe, and personally feels like something required for my mental health!

I try to find awe in little things every day. This early morning it was an own hooting loudly in or around my backyard. (Couldn't see it, just hear it quite loudly.) Just as that was finishing up, the sunrise was starting to color the wispy white clouds nearby in gorgeous shimmering pink. Last night it was my husband bringing to my hand one of the season's first fireflies. He glowed green for a moment and took flight again from my fingertips. I live in a smallish Midwestern city here in the USA. The nightly firefly dances are about to really kick in. I'm disabled so I can't walk far or get around on my own so much. Nonetheless is see splendor around me and I receive it in gratitude.

Deeply profound experiences are rare. You can try however to fill yourself with awe. I walk around malls with my coffee or cocoa alone and im usually in awe about how they keep changing the decor. The hustle and bustle keeps me intrigued. I love parks and nature but the weather where i am is too brutal to go to a park in the hot and humid climate
So that may explain why I need to go deep into a forest, remove people from my sight, and see what earth is like without us. It just FILLS me with indescribable joy. The sounds, the bark texture, all the plants, flowers, insects, birds...I can get LOST in that for hours. It always makes me feel refreshed when I have to back to my usual life. Got to do that more often!!!
I find things that amaze me all the time, I'm easily amused lol I'm going to take it a step further, but I think there's something to being the type of person who is able to notice and appreciate things without it being obvious. Like stopping and appreciating a sunset, watching a baby deer walk across your yard, watching a small child learn a new skill, etc. There are things that occur like this all the time around us, its up to us to be able to notice, and being THAT type of person is someone who finds joy in life and has a general sense of gratitude and fulfillment. That's what makes the "awe moment" imperative to longevity.
I do that all the time in the fall/winter here in Michigan. I absolutely love the sky here that time of year. That, and the absolutely intense winter silence we have. It's incredible. The main reason I love the fact I get out of work at 11pm in the winter. Walk outside and you can almost hear the snow falling to the ground.
Here's one that will always get you're heart pumping and your brain getting that wow moment. Go somewhere with little air pollution, maybe like a hill or go on a little hike, somewhere high outside, and when the night falls just stare up at the sky and listen. You'll see the magnificence of the galaxy and hear the lustrous interactions of nature around you, and no matter how many times you do it, it'll fell like a completely new experience each time.

Im in the same situation as you, bro.. my one and only friend left me. The only one i have now is my husband who is mortally ill.. he has a shorter lifespan compared to an average person. By the time he dies ill be an old woman probably with no beauty left which equates to less chances of finding a partner.. having Asperger doesnt help too..
Deeply profound experience. Intresting how this is something that shows to me that we aren't just a clump of cells but have something deeper written in us like a code. That if we ignore will bring out downfall but if we understand and work to fulfill it will extend out life and it's quality.
This is the reason why i feel energized after i stay in a place that awes me and feel sense of belong of something
As someone with REM sleep disorder, I'm on track to develop Parkinson's. I was diagnosed with REM sleep disorder at age 18/19 and I know Parkinson's is supposed to start showing up 10/15 years after a diagnosis of REM sleep disorder.
What can a person do to stave off Parkinson's? I'm 32 now.
might not sound very scientific but maybe you should look into sahaja yoga, it's completely free.
Probably should ask your doctor and not a youtube doctor.
@Blackout -an addict
Take advice from the video, these things should give you something positive in terms of mindset
well, asking in the youtube shorts comment section is probably the wrong place to start. if you can't afford a doctor, reading papers on the REM sleep disorder should provide more guidance than amateurs.

Yep

Here’s the routine you can do everyday to keep the “awe” factor in your life constant:
•Wake up at 2:45 am, 3 foot line of coke
•2:46 am finish cleaning the ceiling
•2:48 am you’re now at the store but you don’t remember how you got there
• 4:00 pm you don’t remember it’s ok, another 3 foot line of coke
• 4:01 pm coke for lunch
• nature walk
• 4:45 pm forcefully join a yoga class, it’s ok, it’s outdoors
• 5:00 pm jail
• 4:45 pm it’s ok it was a false memory
• wake up at 2:46 am
You had me in the first half 😂
Ironically, when I was in an environment that constantly filled me with awe and also had all kinds of my interests and passion accessible, was also the first time I fell into a depression cycle which was a precursor to epileptic seizure.
I think too much awe might have fried my brain
Guessing college? Its a lot less awe inducing than you thought I think. More like a prison imo. Some of then are so polarizing and almost clinical it really fucks with your head. I was there too.

Good news for me!! I've been married for 21 years and I'm constantly in awe of my spouse. Why? Because we're even crazier about each other now that our kids are grown and it completely trips us both out. We laugh and have so much fun with each other every single day, so hopefully this will help keep our brains young for a lot longer!

Hi there,
The best, most beautiful, awe filling, peace-giving thing that you can experience is coming to know the God that created you and that world.

I find things that amaze me all the time, I'm easily amused lol
I'm going to take it a step further, but I think there's something to being the type of person who is able to notice and appreciate things without it being obvious.
