Josh remains the best on-line teacher out there. His total Logic mastery and ability to explain things clearly and concisely (he doesn't waste our time), is a blessing! His videos contain more useful content-per-minute than any of the other YT "instructors", and this well-edited video is no exception.
I appreciate the kind words! I was a college professor for 10 years, and I particularly like the online format. I feel like I can deliver more material in a more concise format than in person classes.
i am watching musictechhelpguy since 2015 and its just mind baffeling to me how much u can do with logic stock. i have never bought any plugins whatsoever (only free ones) and i actually find myself doing some high quality work, thank you so much MTHG, much love to you from austria!
Was having trouble with the studio strings in my song. This has given me a better Idea of which ones I should be using. I was using the single studio violins and cellos. The ensemble preset sounds better to my ears from this video. Never thought to use those. Thanks!
I'm not a beat maker, but what I learned from this was how to do individual articulations, note by note. Also, the doubling of the parts with Sampler is genius. I'm working on an orchestral track now and this is great!
Very much informative...n...interesting vdo az well...!! Learning lotZz stuff from u..ur realllllly very creative person...lotZz of love from India 🇮🇳❤..God alwayZzzzzz bleZzzzzz u...🙏🏻🙏🏻🎹🎹
Your mastery has shown me how useful logic can be. I think you’re making amazing musical decisions, as well as knowing how to use logic as a musical instrument. Really inspiring - Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I've played piano for years but am new to Logic and couldn't figure out how to bring up the Studio Strings properties and kept getting the Sampler properties. Thank you for explaining the simple (and probably obvious) need to click on the up/down pop up selector and having to actually choose Studio Strings/Stereo. Have watched several other videos of yours and am now subscribed and going to watch even more. Thank you, MTHG!
for midi strings i just go with the mellotron cuz all midi strings (esp stock logic) always sound really fake to my ears so you may as well grab the tron and go for something that is obv unreal but has so much class and vibe that nobody tries to compare it to the real players. my 2c. enjoy your music however you wanna do it everyone
Dear Musictechhelpguy, can you do a tutorial on (fingerstyle) guitar hammering? I couldn't figure it out on my own. I suspect it has to do with legato parameters but yeah I couldn't. Thank you as always.
That’s a tough one. I don’t know that any of logic’s guitar instruments can manage a realistic hammer on / pull off style, but I’ll check it out. Guitar is one of the hardest instruments to sample.
@MusicTechHelpGuy Very impressive !!!.. there are so many hidden gems inside of Logic Pro X.. Much better than "Pro tools" in just about every category ! Is there a more in depth tutorial.. also the way you used the panning feature to speed out the strings.. I think you accessed the psychoacoustic feature in LPX.. Why that instead of the standard LPX pan feature ?
@@MusicTechHelpGuy I would also like it with drums. Could I also request in the future one on Automation. I really struggle with it and find it so difficult to do what I want. Its basically just drawing lines but they never seem to stay where I want them or do what I want. If anyone can direct me to a good video on this as well it would be much appreciated. Thanks again for this weeks videos.
Why don't you provide the session file along with your tutorials? It'll help to troubleshoot some things and is easier to follow along with your tutorial. My logic Pro Articulations don't seem to work properly, so your session would have been very welcomed. Thanks!
I do provide the session file along with many of my tutorials. Not all them though, there are some ideas I would like to use in my own compositions. I can't give away everything!
@@MusicTechHelpGuy oh! apologies then. People have different learning styles so having a session template to follow while watching can really help expedite the learning process for many people. I personally have no interest in using your licks or compositional ideas (no disrespect there), but the template would have been super useful to confirm whether or my logic installation is broken, as I've never been able to get articulation sets working correctly in logic. Anyway, its more about the learning style... maybe do a tutorial with material / information you're happy to share? that's what I thought tutorials were all about, no?
@@sincstuff Well, turns out I'm not attached this one! Haha. I thought this was a different video. Here's a link to download the horn beat so you can check your articulations: we.tl/t-hLKTV5lgl7
@@sincstuff Man, I need to get my eyes checked. I sent you a horn beat, from the video I did around this same time. Here is the actual "String Beat" used for this video: we.tl/t-XKyDLoWK3o
Great, video, very interesting. I'm just curious, isn't it possible to just play the parts in on a midi controller keys to the same effect and just tidy up with editing afterwards?
Very interesting video. I have the tendency to use 3rd party, & maybe expensive, orchestral libraries and sometimes I forgot I have a lot of stuff for free in Logic which, when carefully set like you did, can do a lot.
To my ears Logic Pro has the best stock plug-ins. I don’t think people take the time to explore them before they decide on external VST instruments. I.E omnisphere, native instruments etc.
Hi , I am new to logic pro , your videos are of great help , thank you !!! But I have a very basic problem with the Pencil Tool in the Piano Roll . It will put a note in the first section of each Bar but will not work in any other sections to enter notes . What am I not doing that I should be doing , Many thanks ,Peter UK .
Check your snapping options, this sounds similar to a problem I had. It turned out that I had somehow set snapping up so all my notes would snap to full note boundaries, so I could not add or position half notes, quarter notes etc. Hope that helps, if not I hope you're able to find the solution somewhere else.
@@FireAngelOfLondon HI , thank you for your reply . The problem has been solved . I scrapped the project I was working on and started the same again . This solved my immediate problem , but still don't know what went wrong in the original project . If it happens again I'll worry about it then . I suppose it's simillar to rebooting a computer if something mysterious happens . Thank you again , Peter .
I'm loving this new series of helpful hints, the libraries available are expensive for what I need, I prefer to use Logic stock instruments with the improvement tips like this, is a great help. I have some good Labs & BBC orchestra (Spitfire Audio) however I like the ease of logic Stock plugins. Thanks buddy.
