    I'm sick of seeing everyone play the victim card. C'mon I'm black and I can see through the BS. Why don't you put some glasses and a suit while you at it? Every time there's a confrontation between a black guy and a police officer they always feel the need to play the victim card. You totally didn't have a bebe. Probably don't what kids do and showing it online as if it's a real gun. Lucky you didn't get shot because if you took it out and the cop shot you. Sorry not sorry but I'm on the cop's side.

      First off, no one cares if you’re black or not. Not all skin folk are kin folk.
      There is a great reason bystanders felt compelled to speak up when they see a gun pulled on black males by cops. Luckily there was a plausible explanation as to why here, but there are far too many instances of it being negative not to be concerned.
      Not to mention, it’s not illegal to carry a gun (especially in GA) the issue is what it looks like in the hands of young black males. (See the white man w/ semi automatic walking around the Atlanta airport carefree). In the end, luckily no one got hurt.

    The cop originally had the gun pointed down to the ground… [On a call for 5 kids carrying/displaying a gun call from business owner…] Seen the group of kids matching description and getting the upper hand immediately to prevent any sudden gun pull pointed gun in their direction until they all complied and raised their hands then he immediately pointed gun away from them slightly and towards the ground and then immediately after that to a in front of belly position pointing at the ground full… He did what cops are supposed to do to ensure their and or others safety... The cop pointed the gun no longer than needed and was cautious ... And kids running around with guns that look like real weapons is not good considering the way that cops ended up thinking Tamir Rice had a real weapon because he, or someone, altered the toy to look real as much as possible... The job STARTS with parents who NEED to keep real looking toy guns OUT of the hands of children and make sure any such type toys they play with are the BRIGHT BLAZE NEON colors that are easily identifiable to Law Enforcement… btw did Kamari alter his toy gun too like Tamir??? @Super Blimp The kids were brandishing a gun at a store. At this point in the narrative, no one knew it was a BB-gun. The officer did not know if they still had what could have been a real gun or not. What if they still had the gun and it was real and drew it on the officer and fired at the officer before he could unholster his? Maybe we would have a dead officer and you would be giving medals to his murderers.

    • @ronaldtownsend5745
      @ronaldtownsend5745 3 роки тому

      @Super Blimp Really. An officer of the law is just supposed to stand there and get shot. You're saying that when he puts on that uniform in the morning to go to work he loses his right to self-defense.

    • @ronaldtownsend5745
      @ronaldtownsend5745 3 роки тому

      @Super Blimp I don't care what you think the marines are taught. If a perp pulls a weapon, any weapon, on a police officer, that is a threat and the police officer has the right to defend himself against that threat. He does not have to wait to get shot or stabbed first. If the perp attacks or attempts to disarm an officer the officer has the right to use deadly force to prevent that. The officer does not have to wait to be shot or stabbed before he can act. The officer in the scenario did not know the gun in question was a BB-gun and he did not know that the perps no longer had the weapon. He had every right to go into the situation prepared to protect his life. If one of the perps made a move that the officer judged to be an attempt to draw a weapon the officer does not have to and should not have to wait to be shot. All you are doing is spouting liberal nonsense.

    • @ronaldtownsend5745
      @ronaldtownsend5745 3 роки тому

      @Super Blimp That's not what you said. You said, "Cops are supposed to put their lives on the line for us. That includes the willingness to take a bullet." That is simply not the case. With the possible exception of the President of the United States, no one is required "to take a bullet" for anyone, but that is what you said. Now, if you want to backtrack and say they need better training I will tend to agree with you. But I will never agree that they need to be trained to take a bullet for me or anyone else. I will never agree that they need to be trained to wait to be shot at or rushed at or stabbed or pummeled before taking defensive or offensive action. As soon as the danger to themselves is clear and present they need to be able to take action to neutralize that danger. And if that means lethal force then that what it is.

      @My Own Private Idaho I honestly wasn't affected by it due to the way the police interacted with us. We was made aware that carrying a toy gun that looks real is not a good idea. We were kids in the 90's living in a rural town where a lot of kids had BB guns, so we didn't think nothing of it.
      I don't believe the cop should be fired but maybe should handle it differently next time. He didn't see the gun when he arrived and how did he know it was the right group of boys? What if cops start showing up to all calls like this, knowing the amount of false accusations that goes on? Could he not just stop them until backup arrives? How would you feel if that was your child being held at gun point? I believe the cop was scared and overreacted. People who can't keep their composure shouldn't be cops. Hell, I can admit that I probably wouldn't be a good fit. When done the right way, I believe it takes as much skill to be cop as it takes to be a doctor or engineer.

Not sure why the mother is stating that she wasn't notified. There was a gentleman onsite Monday who spoke for 2 of the kids. I believe he stated that he was the uncle to both. A grandmother was there for her grandson and the two other young men were taken home by the police and their parents were informed. He tried to keep the kids calm and he shouldn't be fired for doing his Job very well. Everyone went home to the families.

    The better question for those parents to be asking was what were they doing with that BB gun at that store in the first place? If "Kamari" was hanging out with the person who had a gun, even if it was a toy gun and that gun was used in the commission of a robbery, then Kamari and his other friends were in far more danger of losing their lives because of that than they ever were from that cop who apprehended them at gunpoint. Be careful of the company you keep. Your friend(s) can get you into a world of trouble without you even knowing about it.

    I am sickened by all the racial profiling that is happening in this country against people of color. But THIS is not THAT! This appears to be a police officer, responding to a potentially dangerous 911 call and effectively managing to neutralize the situation. Everyone followed his orders. Everyone made it home safe and sound including the policeman.
    I was a inner city youth. Grew up in the D. I was hanging with friends and some known associates at a pep rally. Unbeknownst to me, 2 of them pulled out firearms and started shooting into the sky near the rally. I heard police sirens and we all scattered. I was caught up and I had no idea what was happening. Lucky for me I ran the right way and made it home safe. I learned a valuable lesson that day. KNOW WHO YOU ROCKIN' WITH!

  • @julieh7648

    It is completely unrealistic to ask a cop to respond to a "Person with a Gun Call" and tell him he cannot draw his weapon when he finds the person or he will be fired.
    Basically, you are asking officers to go on suicide missions, and the person that had the gun would still be on the streets with the gun. I cannot fathom this expectation.
    It is as if society has suddenly said that cops should be able to 'de-escalate' every gun, knife, etc call by walking up unarmed to the subject and saying, "Hey man, can you hand me that and I'll be on my way?". This just isn't how things work.
    The cop should absolutely not be fired. He did an amazing job of handling this call, and kept his weapon angled down the majority of the time. He continued talking to the teens to tell them it was OK trying to keep them calm. The boys did an excellent job listening.
    The cop told the boys to call their parents while at the store. That may be the only failure. If it was my child, I would have wanted a call from the police with a heads up.
    However, if you look at from the other angle: they were play-fighting (not a crime), and had a pellet gun (not a crime) so technically a report was generated because he had pulled his weapon, not because the boys had done anything wrong so he may not have contacted the parents to avoid them getting in trouble.

    I think some of these people need to take a step back,this officer did a damn good job of controlling this encounter. He explained everything to the kids and let them know why his gun was drawn “do any of you have a gun “ and to disregard what the crowd was saying.

    The officer pulled out the gun, then made sure all of them had their hands up, then pointed it to the side. There was nothing wrong with the way he handled the situation. If he gets fired over this, cops need to take stand and just walk out.
