Yes. It goes about 23 mph top end. I weigh 150 pounds. Gets over 150 mpg. I did change to a ryobi 4 stroke and it has a lot of torque. Daughter has this set up. She weighs 60 pounds and gets 250 mpg and goes at least 30 mph
You do not get 250 mpg. The engine is not even remotely efficient to get that fuel mileage. What is you tank capacity, your idle rpm, top speed and mixture rate? Id like to see your numbers.
Chantal Beck Just telling you what I got with mileage for my daughters bike. If you don’t believe me, build one for yourself and do your own testing. 44:1 ratio, it won’t idle as it’s a friction drive.
Is the socket on the fly wheel that engages the tire, tight to the tire at all times? If not why are they usually hinged? How does it coast? Or idle? And how do you start it? I'm going to make one but no one explains how your engaging the tire or if it's fixed in place.
Yes the socket it tight as it is a friction drive. The turnbuckle is used to tension the entire assembly to the wheel and keep it tight. It’s hinged at the seat post so you can loosen the drive socket off the wheel and ride it like a regular bike by loosing the turnbuckle. Since the drive socket is on the rear wheel you have to peddle the bike, sort of hard to peddle, and it will bump start the engine. It does coast ok while the engine is running but not quite as freely as a regular bicycle. It will idle when you release the throttle but if you go too slow the engine will die, usually less than 2 miles per hour.

I also develop the same but with a centrifugal clutch and a variable belt. a little more complicated to assemble, but similar. would you tell me what is the diameter of the friction roll. write with translator so the translation is not very good. thats a cool bike great ingenuity and yes thanks for posting do you have any live action of you riding it? like to get an idea visually how fast it goes as far as confort with bumpy roads you know? be safe aj over and out
Very cool bike! Like to see it go! Check mine out its the same concept friction drive but the engine is a 5.5hp Rc airplane engine for large scale planes and I believe the only one ever done on UA-cam!
Diameter is hard to say as I don't have the bike any more. I gave it to a neighbor. I used deep well sockets so that I could easily change the "gearing" of the bike to see what would work best.
No. $60 to $100 dollars for the bike. Not sure what they go for these days though as that was about 5 or 6 years ago. Watch my other videos on how to make the bike step by step.

Buy Staton Inc. kit. This looked way too convoluted to be worth it. $350 gets you a reliable kit with an engine and a warranty. A for effort, F for presentation.

Its just a regular Ryobi 4 stroke weedeater. Its the one that has the green plastic engine case. Works really well.

I think it is a 17 mm deep well socket. I purchased a set of sockets so that I could easily change them and experiment with the gear ratio.

How do you start it
notdirtyflics just by pedaling the Bike. The friction of drive drum to the bike wheel causes the engine to “turn over”
