You know, Elden Ring has taught me many things... today, it taught me to hate a hippo. Anyway, on today's adventure into Shadow of the Erdtree we do some exploring, make a cool new build, get wrecked by a hippo for some reason, and then ultimately find what I'm sure is gonna be at least one video's worth of content after this. This npc didn't want to talk to you because you had to make a gesture in front of him, which was probably called let the best man win with what you got and then when you defeat him you will get a new type of weapon martial arts

One thing that can help the offline gaming is making mention of it in the intro and featuring the “content” in a Timelapse. Shows us how to do it, but minimizes the boring content in videos
That fire knight you killed before the elevator to the storehouse, you can farm it for the entire armor set and the greatsword. Any of the knights wielding daggers can drop it but its a shortsword. There are 2 unique fire knight helms, one is a death mask, the other is more of a turban like hood, the latter you passed by on your way to the ancient ruins of rauh.
One piece of advice I would give for both the DLC and the base game is to always have throwing knives in case a boss or enemy is at very low health.

The worst part of the G. Hippo is that the normal ones you encounter in the fields have none of those hitboxes issues. Maybe it's because they are smaller? Also, good to hunt them down if you ever come across them, they all have a Scadutree Blessing if you defeat them.
Oh and in the room with the red painting, there is a illusory wall.
Just as a general warning: killing Messmer might advance questlines, so I'd looking into helping at least Ansbach. His is very straightforward if you explore the Shadow Keep.
If you need a hint for exploring missing areas:
-One of them is south of the riverstream under the bridge before Castel Eisnis, accessed via the poison swamp southeast of Castle Front grace. Just have to hug left, thru a cave, then follow the stream south, jumping down the side cliffs.
-The other is accessed north of Moorth Ruins. On the map, there should be two pools of water. There is an entrance there to a straightforward cave.
Those two are relatively important because otherwise, you'll be mapless in the later areas above them. I know, I ended up like that. Will save you the headache of exploring a zone blind.

Ymir’s quest is pretty important at the end of the
Tip with the Twin Blades, they deal physical damage when the sword hits the enemy as well as the damage from the ash of war. So, you get both the physical and ash of war if you are close enough to hit them with the sword.

Saw your cheese build videos and was happy you started the DLC! We took similar paths through the new area, I was just as confused as you were when the great rune broke past the village bridge on my way to the church, lol. And the ruins you found are not the secret passageway spoken about at 23:30… maybe try to get into the castle from a different path outside? :) I think I was Scadutree level 12 when I got to/beat Messmer, and I’m pretty sure that area was the only difference between us. Also just wanted to drop a quick comment about the Furnace Golems. I don't know if anyone else has commented this yet. The trick to fighting them without fire pots is staggering them 3 times and then getting the visceral or whatever it's called in Elden Ring (visceral just sounds dope, god I miss Bloodborne lol). They are still super tanky, but jumping over attacks and using Torrent to get space really helps with getting rid of them. They only drop crafting materials and a tear for your flask, and I have no idea what the materials craft, but some of the tears are pretty cool.
The Hippo feels like the worst thing in the keep until you figure out which way to dodge. Hate that fkin thing
Yes, I'd go get +15 Scadutree blessing before attempting Messmer, dude's no joke...

For that specific furnace golem that has enforced shackles on, you gotta craft hefty fire pots or normal fire pots and throw them in. You have to throw 4 hefty. And he slaps you like you already saw so you gotta watch out :) You need 1 hefty furnace for the one that lifeless in front of a building to put some life in him
the secret room with the painting also had a false wall that will let you go someplace new.
Love the video. Btw if u go down the ladder where was the painting in the shadow keep there is a hidden wall that u can roll into.

btw, your use of palace themes when bosses appear, and the instant transition to bayle's theme to fit with the game is fucking amazing! it also makes the appearence of the boss contrast with the actual battle! (probably not intended, but i do not give a shit)

The dual blades actually pretty good despite the fact that they are split damage because one blade is fire and the other one is magic. The light attacks are also piercing which is the best type of physical damage in the game. Also the most broken item in the game right now are those perfume bottles. There's a ash of war called rolling Sparks which shoots out a line of explosions. If you aim the explosions at the ground, then they all shotgun on the enemy at once. You can literally chunk bosses down in two to three hits with the lightning and fire perfume bottles. You can find the Ash of war outside of the castle to the left, you'll see one of those beetles flying in the sky.
Yeah, I was considering that for the "cheese" run after this playthrough is over but I imagine it'll be nerfed by then
@@prozkryptix You're probably right. That being said, I think even if it operates as intended, it's probably going to be pretty powerful.
Was looking forward to your video another great one. I would also just like to say that your skill is quite impressive and I respect that you are humble about it. The "souls" community can be quite harsh about levels and summons the fact you are scad level 6 and doing so well is very impressive I finished at level 20 cause I needed it.

Yeah I’ve found the some of the bosses not enjoyable to fight because of hit box issues or spam attacks I dont bosses being hard but just not when they’re not enjoyable to fight

You should really try the normal, infusable light Greatsowrd and the ash of war you can find close to it. The normal one handed moveset is so damn cool and if you cold infuse it it procs pretty quickly aswell. Also does good stance damage with the ash of war
Pro Tip: Whenever you see an enemy with a glowing eyes randomly, killing him will grant you 5× his base Runes.

Probably not for these videos, just because the style I record for them doesn't really work for unedited content the same way a stream VOD or something would.
That said, I've tossed around the idea of streaming extra content or just games I don't feel like editing into videos before. Maybe now that I've got more of an audience I'll actually do it.

wrong way to use the great katana, power stancing them makes their moveset worse, slower, lesse damage per second. You shouyld two hand and use the ash of war of the dragon hunter, although the normal one can be infused and granted better scaling.
