So your telling me that MEUS did it better because it comes with the metal gears and the servo that you can ad to shift so you don’t have to do it manually. Got it!👍
What is the point of low gears on these? The electric motors should put out plenty of torque and you can just modulate your speed easily with the controller. I guess I don't see an advantage to the 2 speed transmission vs a 3 speed electronically modulated speed system?
My thoughts are that this is junk, plastic gears, bushings and manual shift, really Traxxas? I’ll pick up the Meus one which is a similar price and you get an alloy case, steel gears, bearings and a servo option shift. Great video as always though 😀
@@cols_bricks Just finished one. Fun to build, but very limited space if you plan on using the interior. Also, have a hobby hand drill handy or thread tap tool. I used Meus shocks and the mounting hardware supplied was not self tapping and the chassis is not pre threaded.
Waste of money! Come on Traxxas, get with the program. If this is supposed to be an upgrade, it should have metal gears, bearings, and a servo mount option so you could make it shift from your transmitter.
I agree bearings should be included. Metal gears aren't needed and the TQ transmitter can't utilize a shift servo anyway, so it makes no sense for Traxxas to make it servo operated.
@@Mars_rc_adventure yea, but the trx4 remotes could be used to control a 2 speed servo. I personally have mine bound to my trx4 and 4M. Seems like they need to make a TRX4m ultimate with a TQI and upgraded ECM, portals and 2 speed.
Great video Adam, I'm really interested in this piece however, I can't get over how much this costs considering it's plastic, with brushings and manual shifting. FMS comes with 2 speeds and portals out of the box ... I have a feeling that this is a missed opportunity for Traxxas.
Not until it has servo shift. I have a FMS power wagon and it would be a pain to manual shift. Sometimes you just want to goose high gear to get over something, and go back to low.
If you count trading out stock electronics for servo shifting its a bit cheaper and easier to implement. 2 speed remote shifting has a big barrier of entry when rcs use 3 in one.
Traxxas needs to make it switchable from the remote and install it from factory like the competitors. With Traxxas everything is always an extra that you need to buy apart 💩
exactly my thoughts.. Plus meus transmission has more difficult shifting and is slower, and I like me rather some more speed in high gear. So traxxas did it right. Yeah, if it was 10 money cheaper it would be killer.
Nice upgrade I like the set up from Traxxas I can use this on any of my 4 TRX4M's but I definitely want to throw it on the Ford Bronco. And Traxxas Portal Axles too. Great video Adam thanks.
How would you rate this type of upgrade relative to something like the Injora brushless upgrade? Seems like the brushless will get you the low end control and top end speed, without the extra failure point of a 2 speed transmission?
You’re right about that, it’s already been happening for awhile in 1/10 scale stuff. I have single speed trucks with Fusion motors and you get best of both worlds , not really necessary to have a 2 speed anymore
Stock gear the truck would bind up when crawling. Then with enough throttle the truck will leap over the rocks. This will be interesting to try. Today picked up 2 speed.
The first and very late reaction to the evolution of the FXC24M platform. The big brands need to do a lot more than this. They are still sleeping on their names, not only Traxxas. Every iteration of the FMS rigs gets better and is an improvement. But no innovation from the big brands... It's about time. It's funny how FMS is trolling Axial and Traxxas even with the name of their platform. 😁
I got it but only bc I already had a trx4m that I wanted to trail with. Tbh portals for over 100$ plus the 2 speed for 50$ is bs, rly should’ve came stock just like the fcx24. Same scale, scale hardbody (which makes it more of a trail truck rehab a crawler imo) all that is stuff that rly should’ve just came with the trx4m in the first place
Ive got meus 2 speed, and ill be sticking with that. But rhis transmission isnt marketed at me. Its marketed and someone using stock car and electronics.
So what I'm getting from this is I should get a FCX18 and toss on the monster truck wheels I've got kicking around because I caught them on sale. Silly Traxxas "innovating" 2 years behind someone else at a ridiculously higher price and worse product. 😂😂😂
Do you know when injora will restock there brushless motor/ Esc combo? I had their MB 100 brushed ESC and remote, but I don’t know what happened and I have no reverse, I thought it was a bad motor so I bought a brand new promoter but it turns out as the ESC, I’ve even tried setting up different receivers, please help.
I like Traxxas but, their execution on this two speed is lame and screams "AFTER THOUGHT!" It is so un-Traxxas like! You guys are noted as one of the originators of the affordable bulletproof RC two speed transmission. A manual lever to throw after you remove the body? Have you ever seen an FMS crawler? What's happening here??? By the way, nice job Adam on your presentation 😁
$50 is kind of ridiculous specially for such a small truck I drive 110 scale and I get transmissions all day with metal gears and bearings for that much or less

Waiting for Meus to come out with one that fits in the Ripper.

You know it’s overpriced when aftermarket companies make better ones for cheaper

Just get the two speed from MEUS. Gets a bit top heavy but me and by son mostly run trails so its not the end of the world
Would require a ECM upgrade. Plastic gears for a crawler like this isn’t awful.
@@cgnovice2969what the 2 speed from mues like I’ve just order the INJORA brushless motor set up maybe see what’s it’s like mated to a 2speed

I like this concept, been holding off on other two speeds because I'd have to change out the stock electronics to do the shifting
Not until it has servo shift. I have a FMS power wagon and it would be a pain to manual shift. Sometimes you just want to goose high gear to get over something, and go back to low.
yeah i love my fms jeep with the 2 speed

Traxxas just ain't even trying 🤦 meus 2 speed for the win.

The manual shifting is a let down. I have the meus 2 speed with the brushless injora combo. Can't beat it imo
You've created the unbeatable duo already lol
I like the manual shift cause I don’t want to have to have another tx …just my poor person opinion
exactly my thoughts.. Plus meus transmission has more difficult shifting and is slower, and I like me rather some more speed in high gear. So traxxas did it right. Yeah, if it was 10 money cheaper it would be killer.
Elephant in the room:
The motor should be a 380 can. That motor will never be enough.
180s are fine. The Titan 180 is just the weakest piece of junk ever.
@maxwell5428 it's the bare minimum just to move.
@PonkyKong you're wrong, I ran a 180 Holmes hobbies motor on 3s, it was plenty.
@@S5UPERCHARGED it may move better. Buy a 180 is still far too small.
I mean, it's nice, but a manual switch? Come on! Traxxas really needs to release an updated version of the TRX4M to compete with the FCX18.

Traxxas with the way late inferior product
Looks great Adam.Mine is on the way.
what a waste they did this cause the complaints about the MT but its too little too late should of came in the model stock
The FMS is a better deal for what you get.

I love it and don't mind driving a manual shift 😊
can l put a furitek system on this transmision?
Plastic Housing, Plastic Gears, Manual shift, Bushings. Nah I pass
I definitely think traxxas will add the bearings and shifter later on
I knew there was a reason I’ve never bought a Traxxas and never will 😂
Looks like a simple fab to make it servo actuated but I don't have a trx4m. So I may be totally mistaken
So what I'm getting from this is I should get a FCX18 and toss on the monster truck wheels I've got kicking around because I caught them on sale.

Wow. Yeah much more simple than the axial's
Just when I thought a TRX-4M transmission couldn't get any more needlessly large and complicated.
$50 is kind of ridiculous specially for such a small truck I drive 110 scale and I get transmissions all day with metal gears and bearings for that much or less
But the questions are:
1. Will I need a new Traxxas remote for this?
2. Does it screw into the stock motor mount/skid plate?
Did you even bother to watch the video?
No yes
Traxxas we want a f1 car let’s ho
Ngl kinda a waste also why don’t they just have the portals already
Awe it dont use a servo hmm
i just want a switch on off button so i dont have to remove the body
Hey Adam! There are new beadlock wheels and portal axles that traxxas has finally made!
130$ for the portal kit is crazy.
They are to bussy with law suited toward other rc company's, in the meanwhile they are selling crap🥴😩
For the love of god people just buy fms or hobbyplus trucks, the trx4m is garbage. It should have had all these goodies at first
Lmao.. traxxas trash
