    Keep the cut-off roots and dried stems to add to your compost heap or spread over your garden, which will help deter pests.

      @@BettyCloerWallace yea, I normally put them in the compost bin. The trash can was just a containment device. 🙂
      Never thought of just putting them on top of the garden bed.

    Thanks. Hanging upside down makes sense to me.

      @@user-us3pi4es5b Yes! I made some this year during the growing season. First time trying that. Gives a light garlic flavor

    Those reusable bags are genius! Where did you get them from? I'm trying garlic for the first time this year, FL, so fingers crossed lol

      Garlic is really easy to grow, just takes a while.
      As far as the bags go, I got mine off Amazon , you can search reusable produce bags and find them

    Once a person learns the basics, garlic is one of the easiest, most rewarding crops to grow. I have been growing for about 5 years, but relocated across country and so am just starting over this year. Bought 3lbs of seed from a local, reputable dealer, worked out to about 250 cloves in the ground. Enough for two families for the year, enough to replant and some to sell at the farmers market. It is easy, please give it a try. Enjoy!

      I think so as well! As we prepare to move to the cabin, I'm trying to decide which place to grow it at.
      Good luck!

      If you actually believe what you just said then you have not grown garlic long enough nor a wide variety of it. Nor understand that you’re environment dictates the flavoring color nor understand that as you store it, depending upon the variety, it changes in flavor..
      It is the single most complex crop to grow appropriately .

    Hello, probably much too late now but your labels appear to say “neirloom” instead of “heirloom”. Hope you don’t mind me commenting. Nice video. 😊

      I had to go look! They did have the h.
      It wouldn't have surprised me if I had done that though.
      Thanks for letting me know! I'd rather check and do it wrong for all time! :)

    How much garlic do you grow each year?

    • @tnthomesteading
      @tnthomesteading  9 днів тому +1

      @@GlacialRidgeHomestead I used to grow over 100 each year. Since moving not as much. Last year's failed miserably, this year, maybe 25 (enough for us}

      @tnthomesteading  Місяць тому

      When we sold, it was $3 a bundle, which was 3 heads. Since we've moved, we've not gotten production up yet

      I just braid them and tie with a thin string of hemp.
