Here ladies, i give you a for, ular to creat a round woth whatever thickness of the yarn. First round: three stitchhes crochet (it can be single, double, or tripble) in each foundation chain. Second: two stitches in each one Third round: one stitch in first one, two stitches in second one and so on Four round: one stitch in the first one, one sitch in second one, two stitches in the third one Round five: divide the total of all stitches of round fourth by 8 and use a marker. Now you crochet two stitches where the markers are. So by adding 8 stitches in each round you are making the round is bigger. To make a perfect round piece : do not plave your adding stitches at the same spot of the previous round. You just have to scatter them all around. As long as you add 8 stitch of each round, you are making a perfect circle without it curling up. Keep this formular in mind because it is a golden rules that take me a good long time to find out
Curling means needs more increases. Waves means needs less increases. However, ripples and waves can be remedied with a long soak and dry -- which eliminates the frogging.
When I crochet round hats, I think of it as.... Round 2 = 2 stitches (in each previous stitch). Round 3 = 1 stitch, then 2 stitches. Round 4 = 1 stitch, 1 stitch, 2 stitches. Round 5 = 1 stitch, 1 stitch, 1 stitch, 2 stitches. Etc. Each grouping adds up to the row number you are working on. (Row 5.... 1+1+1+2=5) Makes it easier for me to remember how many increases to do for that row. I'm going to try that concept on this type of rug too and see how that works. Thanks for your video.
Thank you very much for the tips, infact I saw it last night & started crocheting today. I found it very convenient to follow the traditional method of crocheting ,ie an increase in each row & using the back loop to crochet keeping the tension not to tight. It's giving an absolute flat circle without any hassle 👍
Finished watching the one thing I love about your videos is you don't go so fast that I can not keep up and have to keep rewinding and you do not assume that we already know something you explain it in detail. Love your videos

I think you should. Not recommended for someone new at crochet. But if you've made a several circles already, then this could be fun to find what pattern works with your hook and yarn, using the methods of keeping it flat like I show in this video (and on my site) I would give it ago :D
This is my first time crotcheting and I really enjoyed your video! Just wish you would've mentioned how to end it when your done seeing as I have absolutely no idea what to do now haha, but I'm sure there's other videos on it
wow thank you for being so honest, when l decided to try using bed sheets no one mentioned the tens of thousands of miles of threads you had to pull. l did make the oval rug and it was nice. So.now l,ll try t shirt yarn with NO threads..lol
try hand crochet! there is wonderful videos for using our crippled hands instead of holding onto those hooks! good luck! by the way hon you might try 6 then 12 then 2,1,2,1,etc... then 2,1,1,2,1,1,2,etc... then 2,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,2,etc.... keep adding in this manner!
I have exactly this kind of rug and i use it as a doormat. Its good coz its got texture, not too flat n u can clean shoes on it. Idk where i got it from but i want to make same one as a bathroom mat. It washes good in the machine but is heavy and it dries for a long time.
Yup! I love mine too. They really are beautiful and functional and will last you a long time. And you can make the yarn using old t shirts, so you get to recycle at the same time if you'd like.
I did something similar to this many years ago. We would take strips of cloth.........preferable all the same kind of cloth......like all cotton.....and BRAID them. then shape it into a circle or oval to make a rug. Looked just like a braided rug you'd buy. FUN. Yard sailing for old cloths/shirts for the cloth was fun too.
I understand what she's saying. T-shirt yarn [strips] are pretty easy to work with. I don't understand how it could become so hard for anyone. It's light, and the strips do not have to be perfectly flat as some mat assume. It curls up length-wise on it's own anyhow. This the yard word.
FYI Try holding your hook in the overhand position and relax your left hand instead of pointing your index finger so far away from your hand. Fatigue is manageable with a few changes, beautiful rug!
Mine has sort of flattened out a little bit of a wave if I don’t do any more increase will it still grow and be a big rug? Or u have to add more increases later or can keep doing sc rounds
If it is curling, it means it doesn't have enough stitches, yes increase, if it is warping, then you have to many and I would rip out the previous row and do it without an increase. this is how I did mine. I took it row by row. Lay it down after every row to make sure it's still staying flat.
Maybe try finger crochet. That’s my plan, anyway...and suggested by someone I know who’s a fiber artist. (I have bad hand and thumb arthritis so I had to give up the hook)
Alexandra Kardasz as long as it's strong enough not to fall apart when people step on it a lot or if it's to light weight then it could easily slip out from under them.
im up to row 12 13 and curling up heaps. so u started to do in the round not ss chain 1 after the first fet founds? once i come to the end of a round i change colour buy joining to the next
@@Meladora1 the first 2 rows stick up a bit then after that was fine then it started to roll again on the 5th row then waved at the 7th row so cant win lol
if the first few rows are harder then the rest and have to push to lie flat while the rest arnt to bad and its a bigger rug whats the best way to try to flatten it? i see u said stand on it but a big rug u cant stand in diff parts forever
I don't know if it's harder than the rest, I remember checking it every row and having to rip some rows out, and the bigger it got, the more stitches I had to rip out, so just take it one row at a time. Best of luck!
So i got three skeins of yarn from Wish, and I'm unable to return it. The yarn is a t-shirt yarn but made of spandex and it's pretty thin, like size 5 weighted yarn. Not sure if I have enough to make a rug.
I bet you could! I've never done it though, but there are a few videos out there to help. There's one at this link, as well as how to make plarn, which is made of plastic bags www.meladorascreations.com/10-ways-to-recycle-using-crochet/
+susan sloan Same! This is why I wanted to teach myself and teach what I learned in hopes if someone was like me and was looking for info about it, then they would have more of an idea of what they were getting into :D
It doesn't have to be even. As long as your piece is flat. Continue the repeat until the end of the round, even if you are not able to complete the last repeat fully
I have had to frogg the project and restart seveeral times, by row 7 it is starting to look like a bowl, so i take our a row and do a increese, by row 13 it was still curling and started to look like a basket, your instructions are simple, and its only 20 some rows,, but i wanted to make it bigger, in your instructions, you stopped saying by the end of the row how many stitches you should have, what am i doing wrong, i went and got the size P hook and have t shirt yarn that is a 6
Super Bulky 6: 9-15 mm. You fall into the correct size hook for your 6 ply. The reason I stop giving counts at a certain point is because everyone crochet's at different a tightness. This is where the "Tips" comes into play. Continue the pattern as taught, looking for the 2 things I mentioned, the "bowl" and the "ruffle" and adjust as needed. I hope this answers your questions. Have a great day!
It was a hard struggle. I had to keep going row by row like I show here and changing and ripping out to make adjustments. I show you what to look for and how to make the correct adjustments in the video and in the picture of the pattern :D
I never buy t-shirt yarn, because I like to think of being thrifty and so I make my own yarn from old t-shirts. It can be a little tedious, but it's a great way to get rid of t-shirts rather than make them into rags. I mean how many rags can you have?!😂

Can anyone tell me where to get this particular yarn? And what size of hook do I need to work with?

Hi I'm using t-shirt yarn.didn't follow pattern completely and circle circling up :-( do I increase or decrease stitches?
thanks
+LS K if it's rolling up you don't have enough stitches the row before, so increase
May I know what's the size of your crochet hook?
You sure can! All that information is at the start of the video.
Hi, is there a reason you didn't pull your yarn tight so it would be a rolled yarn ? Thank you for showing us how to do this. Your rug is very nice.
+pamela northup Don't understand your question. Rolled Yarn?
+Meladora's Creations for Crochet You used store bought yarn. When you make your own T shirt yarn you need to pull it to make it roll.
I understand what she's saying. T-shirt yarn [strips] are pretty easy to work with. I don't understand how it could become so hard for anyone. It's light, and the strips do not have to be perfectly flat as some mat assume. It curls up length-wise on it's own anyhow. This the yard word.
Can you tell me specifically the name of your t shirt yarn. There are so many on the internet and rarely do they say how wide the strips are.
It's a Israeli company that doesn't ship abroad. Best to find a company that you like and make sure it's all the same cut thickness
Hi, what company is it? (I'm from israel)
Just go to yard sales and find tshirts or sheets. Old sheets work great. AND it wouldn't cost hardly anything coming from a yard sale.
FYI
Try holding your hook in the overhand position and relax your left hand instead of pointing your index finger so far away from your hand.
Fatigue is manageable with a few changes, beautiful rug!
Thanks for the tip!

Hi, Can you use Loops & Thread Super Chunky Yarn instead and get a similar look to the pattern?
+Swangels3 Same idea of pattern and yes you could, just not going to be as thick as this yarn and not as durable.
I spray my rug with water till saturated then smooth to flatten. It dries flat.
Where do you buy the material?
Maybe try finger crochet. That’s my plan, anyway...and suggested by someone I know who’s a fiber artist. (I have bad hand and thumb arthritis so I had to give up the hook)
Excellent thanks so much
how many meters of yarn did you use approaximately?
Hello, do you make slip stiches after row 4?
I tried to stick with SC throughout, I used sl only at the end of a row when I wanted to change colors and start somewhere else in a new color.
Hi. Thanks for ur effort. Did you buy this t-shirt yarn or made it yourself? If u buy, where did u source them ?
Hello, thanks for sharing your video's. Where did you find the t-shirt yarn that you used to make this rug? Thanks.
+l fod Unless you live in Israel you don't have access to it. But you can find T- Shirt yarn in any hobby store.
I've seen many different types of t-shirt yarn on Amazon in varying colors and prices.
Thank you Christine
Could i use bulky blanket yarn instead of t-shirt yarn??
Alexandra Kardasz as long as it's strong enough not to fall apart when people step on it a lot or if it's to light weight then it could easily slip out from under them.
What number of the hook do you usr?

i did the 3sc and then 2 in 1 on the second row of second colour but wasnt even how many stitches after that
