I bought the KT's based on your first look video, and they are great! Love how I can adjust the heights. Only wish I could swap the Qanba switch sometimes for something more tactile with or without an audible click.
I'm glad to hear that my video helped you choose your new buttons. Omron does make a tactile switch module that should fit the KT and the KS buttons, but because it is designed for keyboards, it doesn't have the 2.8 spade connectors that are standard on arcade buttons. I'll try to get a few (they aren't very common) and see if the pins can be adapted/modified to fit the standard 2.8 spade connectors. If you are interested, look up the Omron B3K switches - the B3K-T13L2 is the tactile variant (black body with a white plunger). Thanks for your comments and feedback. I appreciate it.
I was almost about to order the KS buttons. This video was very helpful, but I’m still confused. I’ve read the comments as well, but I couldn’t make a decision. Are the KT buttons an upgrade over the KS? Would you recommend the KT ones?
The KT buttons were released later, but I wouldn't call them "upgrades" over the KS buttons. Other than the adjustable plunger height and some minor colour and material texture differences, the KT and the KS buttons are almost identical in functionality and quality. If you want to have the option to adjust your button heights on the fly and will use this feature frequently, then go with the KT buttons. But if you're happy with the default height of the KS buttons, then go with those. If you can't make a decision, consider getting the KT buttons for your main action buttons (4 or 6) and KS buttons for the rest. Also, you could order a single KS and a single KT button from qanba.vip and compare them side-by-side. I hope this helps. 🕹️🔴🟡🟢🔵
Both the KT and the KS buttons are silent - they both have the same silent linear switch and almost identical silicone inserts that dampen the sound. Have a look at my other video demonstrating the KS sound profile against the Santa OBSF and generic buttons (ua-cam.com/video/KY1PKzzCObo/v-deo.html). The KT sound profile is exactly the same. I hope this helps.
Damnit I just bought some KS buttons and didn't really like how short the throw was, so it seems like I should have gotten the KT buttons and set it to the max height position for that extra 0.5 mm of throw :(
Oof, that's rough - the extra 0.5 mm is nice. Most people look for buttons with the shortest throw possible, but a few of us with larger and heavier hands who like to rest their fingers on the buttons do benefit from a longer throw. Before you buy a whole new set of KT buttons, consider getting a single button from qanba.vip to make sure it suits you - they usually offer a 20% discount store wide and free shipping on small orders. 🕹️🔴🟡🟢🔵
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
