  • Another Desert Foraging Adventure today! This time we’re looking at some east methods for harvesting or foraging the cactus buds of the cholla cactus. Most cholla and prickly pear cactus are edible or have edible parts, at least. Even the giant saguaro has edible fruit! I did a video on the Saguaro recently too. But those fruits of the saguaro are not ready until later in the summer. On the contrary, these cholla buds can be harvested in spring. If you want to see more edible desert plants check out my foraging playlist here - I also show the fishhook and the barrel cactus fruits and flowers and more! I just love the desert! But I also forage know the Pacific Northwest when we go up that way. So much wonderful natural foods to find!
