Im so sad it s like another part of our King has gone....thanks mister Scotty Moore to be a huge part of Elvis carieer and one of his best friends rest in peace near God and Jesus Christ ...Ill do my best to keep your memorie alive on stage and tel about you to the fellows of my generation
Incredible ex-Navyman Scotty Moore, ex-Armyman Bill Black and teenaged civilian Elvis made history and made our different generations happy. I cried aged 13 in August when i came home from the Royal Brisbane Exhibition to be told by mum that she heard on the radio that Elvis Presley died....went in my room, shut the door behind me and stuck on an Elvis record whilst rifling through my Elvis books and magazines, no smartphone, tablet, laptop, wifi or internet.
The original Elvis band was "theeee best". Scotty, Bill and D.J., with the awesome backup vocals of the Jordanaires were the best. I love the original lineup the best.
Scotty is rock & roll royalty. The man played some of the first rock guitar solos ever played. He's also a decent man and a gentleman. It's been humbling to live during his life time and to be able to appreciate his work while he is still alive.
Thanks Great Person he is He lived just few block's from me Met him a lot's time's back then just a plain nice guy and he is right about Dewey Phillips He was the one that first played Elvis just like he said over and over I got to hear it as history being made that night on the radio Never for get Old Dewey or Elvis Or Scotty Moore...
Listen to My Baby Left Me. DJs drummin on that snare? Jaw droppin. Scotty's playin is that good that ppl on here are giving lessons and not one person plays it correctly. Not. One! And when Elvis' sings, he means every word of this song. It is stunning. Imagine hearing crooners and ballad singers and big bands. Then, all of a sudden this track comes on the radio. Wow!
That's so true, but some guys play similar things that Scotty did, in lessons. You have to watch the lesson, then listen to the original or live version of Scotty playing, then try to match it it up by ear mostly, when learning it. They were a tremendous band and sound.
To really capture a guitarist's sound you have to listen to their influences, for Scotty the #1 influence is Chet Atkins, then bill Monroe ather cudrup Robert Johnson Chuck Berry pat Hare Hubert sumlin and many more buts his main ones where blues and country.
THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY DISK LIKES ON THIS MAN HE IS MY HERO,HE CREATED THE BEST BAD ASS SOUND ON HIS GUITAR TO EVER COME OUT OF ROCK-N- ROLL..,HE MADE ANY BODY WHO WAS SOMEBODY TO PICK UP A GUITAR AND WANT TO PLAY., I'M A NO BODY AND HE MADE ME WANT TO PLAY WITH OUT BEING ON DRUGS.., SO THAT SAYING ALOT!,(SCOTTYTHERE FOR HE IS THE KING!!,(SCOTTY MOORE).
It’s wild how the Sun story is so similar to the 68 comeback dressing room story. Elvis just being comfortable, not performing for anyone, just totally being in the music that he loved. THAT’S the genius.
Scotty Moore made Elvis look good, his style was new and not excepted as traditional guitar riffs but everyone wanted to copy it later. God bless glennis
However it got started by accident or not, thank God, or we would not have the wonderful music from Elvis Presley. Scotty and Bill helped make Elvis into the star he became. Elvis' marvelous voice was a gift from God.
That one sided copy of that's all right that Sam cut for Dewey has to be out ther somewhere and it has got to be the rarest and most expensive sun record ever
The guy who made Elvis what he was. Doesn't get nearly, if any, enough credit for that. Presley never really recognized Moores role in his career. People around Elvis said he didn't talk much about Moore or the other guys from his first group. They noted that Presley just wasn't given to that, and wasn't 'big timing' the guys. Most believe had Presley lived longer he eventually would have worked with Moore and DJ again. However, once he moved on he moved on. Marty Lacker asked Elvis about that awhile before his death and Presley said 'it's hard for me to remember back then. So much happened'. Let's hope that would have happened had he lived. Moore does deserve much more credit.
When Elvis first began touring with Scotty Moore and Bill Black, they traveled in the automobile owned and maintained by Moore's wife,Bobbie. She worked at Sears and was the only one who had a steady paying job at the time. When Elvis became an overnight star and began to make big money,he purchased a Lincoln, but he never made any attempt to replace Bobbie's car or to pay back what she had put into it for them
The cause of the issues between Scotty Moore and Bill Black playing with Elvis once Elvis signed with RCA was Tom Parker, Elvis' manager. Of course, Elvis could have stood up to Parker and insisted that Scotty and Bill be allowed to become part of the regular band. We'll never know why he didn't stand up to Parker It could be argued that Parker made Elvis as popular as he was but many people think that any good manager could have made Elvis a star since Elvis was that good. I am a big Elvis fan and I never liked Parker. Any real Elvis fan knows that Parker abused his position as manager, taking up to 50% of Elvis' earnings! Elvis wanted to do concerts abroad but Parker kept saying no. The reason, as everyone now knows, is because Parker was not a US citizen. Once he left the US, he could not get back in. Parker limited Elvis' movie roles with backwards thinking...he wanted to keep Elvis' image "clean" so therefore no movie roles where Elvis would have to portray some "no so good" person.
Later James Burton, who once played for Ricky Nelson, played guitar for Elvis. Someone said, James Burton grew up to play with the boss, James played for Ricky Nelson in the 50s there was no boss. Except Elvis. God bless glennis
The truth is, lead guitar players do not get credit or in some cases are not allowed to even make money or benefit from the rock stars name in some cases. Scotty Moore, bill black, dj Fontana were due More than they got. God bless glennis
Absolute quality this man. Elvis was a legend but his band helped create Elvis and will be so sadly missed. RIP Scotty
Thank you ,Mr Scotty Moore, for being a loyal friend and a great musician near Elvis.
RIP Scotty. His guitar truly changed the course of music.

Hell of an accident!! What a gent this man was... had the pleasure of meeting him twice, only briefly but left a lasting impression.
It’s wild how the Sun story is so similar to the 68 comeback dressing room story. Elvis just being comfortable, not performing for anyone, just totally being in the music that he loved. THAT’S the genius.

Great humble man! Rip Scotty
This right here is the DNA of rock ( nice guy too)
However it got started by accident or not, thank God, or we would not have the wonderful music from Elvis Presley. Scotty and Bill helped make Elvis into the star he became. Elvis' marvelous voice was a gift from God.

So God sent Elvis down there and coordinated the whole thing. Cool. Love Rock and Roll.

At 1:25, Scotty Moore says "that was it!" History was changed!
I agree that Elvis' early work was his best. listen to Heart break hotel, mystery train, etc. Simple but great sings!
facinating, interesting and all the other "ings"
Descanse en paz

GREAT STORY

I still can’t believe Elvis allowed him to take 50%

RIP
Scotty says "...regardless of what your hear, the whole thing was an accident." What a beautiful accident.
@yojoe71 Chuck is a tremendous songwriter, too. Legend. Carl Perkins had many great things to say about Chuck Berry
スコッティームーア氏のご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。

If THAT 'gold top' could talk (and are those white p-90s?) ... um-m-m-m-m-m-m!
happy accidents
nervous energy - haha!
is Bill Black still alive?
No, he died in 1965 in Memphis Tennessee where he was born. But anyway he lives on forever.
Bill Black died ages ago there is only DJ Fontana left
Where is Elvis today?
@yojoe71 not to me.
nobody knows
No Scottie....No Elvis as he is known all over now. Class dismissed.
no
that's horrible aint it
No. He is in hell. Elvis is in eternal torment for being blasphemous and never repenting of his sins and turning to Christ
RIP
RIP
