- Hello and thank you for watching our latest video. Today I will be doing a little review and road test of the Suzuki FZ50 that I restored a few months ago.
I hope you enjoy.

Thanksjeff.....sounds sweet..... Ineed to get my mobylettedone as I need a dinky runabout!!!....keep it up
Hi Adam, yes I'm so pleased I'm keeping it. It is such a pleasure to ride. It would be great to see a photo of your mobylette when it's done. The Raleigh's and Mobylette's are my favourites to do.
Take care, Jeff
Just found out my Nan had one of these. Keeping my eyes peeled for a cheap one now ✌️❤️
Hi Darryl, thanks for watching. I bought it quite cheaply after buying it with an other bike. It turned out a long but enjoyable restoration, but it's fun to ride, so worth it in the end.
Take care, Jeff
Spot on Jeff you have done a great job on that 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Alan, yes I'm glad I'm keeping it now.
Take care, Jeff
i started to take apart my fz50 for a full restore ! your videos help me so much, thanks alot !
Hi Zadus, thanks for watching and I am glad it helped.
Just had a problem with mine it started to missfire over a couple of days and died with no spark. I narrowed it down to the PEI/CDI. A second hand one turned up yesterday and it started straight away.
Take care, Jeff
Amazing mini moto, greatins from Colombia
Thank you very much.
Take care, Jeff
I picked up one today gotta say great fun
That's great they certainly are fun. As I mentioned the plan was to sell it, but it took nearly a year to restore. When I first got it I had to drag it into the shed as the brake shoes had stuck to the drum.
Enjoy your one, the best time for riding is coming.
Take care, Jeff
Thanks for that Jeff. I'm thinking of buying one of these little toys myself, they look like great fun. All the best from Ireland. 😊
Hi Martin and thanks for watching. They are great bikes and very smooth to ride. I don't know if you have seen one of my videos back in June, called Disaster and unfortunately I had a major shed fire where I lost the shed all my scooters and the car. So I lost the Suzuki FZ50 in that.
Take care, Jeff
I'm very sorry to hear that Jeff.. I hope no one was injured and that your home wasn't damaged.. What an awful thing to happen.
@martinconnell3031 Thanks Martin, yes it was terrible at the time, but my colleagues and a Friend on UA-cam did collections for me. If it wasn't for them the insurance would certainly have not been enough to get me up and running again.
This Saturday I have a video called Disaster Six Month's Anniversary, so people can see the before and after.
Losing the FZ50 was a shame as I was going to keep that one, but the insurance did pay what it was worth.
Take care, Jeff
Great review Jeff, it certainly goes well and looks great, and what a bad lad you were 🤣🤣
Thanks Martin, I was very naughty. I was the naughty boy in the street, but probably the only one that gets praised by the former neighbours now.
Take care, Jeff
Hello Jeff i have been waiting for this video you did some job on it my FZ50 is 1990 it had a lot of issues was really neglected but with your help it runs nice now and i am really glad i bought it i to love the smooth gear change a simple 2 speed lovely bike great you are keeping yours no one knows the bike better than you all we need now is nice weather thanks for all the help enjoy and take care.
Hello Tony and thank you. I went out on it today and as usual it was a pleasure to ride. As you say, that smooth gear change is fantastic.
I'm glad yours is running well.
I think mine was nearly scrap when I bought it, I had to drag it into the shed as the brakes had seized to hubs.
I love to see anything that looks like the end of it's day's restored and back to where they should be.
Take care, Jeff
You have done an incredible job Jeff, looks amazing & that's a keeper, hope you are well & love to Jenny Chow xx
Thank you Sue, it took a long time but we got there eventually. I hope all is well with you.
Jenny sends you some xxx
Take care, Jeff xx
Hi Jeff, do you have any tips for cleaning the white plastic parts on the fz50? Or mabye what colorcode the plastic is, if it is possible to paint them?
Hi Ben, although I bought the leg shields new, from what I remember I used a plastic paint adhesive and then just sprayed them a normal white.
I hope this helps.
Take care, Jeff
@@DiecastPowderCoating Thanks!
know im a bit late, but can you maybe show a video of where you take apart the airfilter? i cant find any videos where is can see how its supposed to be set up.
Hi Bertram, I'm very sorry, but unfortunately I won't be able to make video on it, as my shed burnt down a year ago and the poor old FZ50 was lost in the fire. It was a lovely little bike and very smooth. If I get a chance I would love to restore another.
From what I remember the air filter housing was held on to the carburettor by two bolts and a bracket the other side and a bit fiddly to get the nuts on the engine side.
I'm sorry I can't be more help.
Take care, Jeff
@@DiecastPowderCoating Thanks for replying so fast, im so sorry about the shed. i will try to do it like that.
Thanks
@BertramBendixen Thanks Bertram, luckily back up and running again.
@@DiecastPowderCoating that good, if you ever decide to rebuild another fz50, i will be watching it :)
@@BertramBendixen I am currently doing an old lawnmower at the moment, just for a change. I am hoping to get another moped project perhaps in August. I would like to do a tribute FZ50 project, but have always wanted a go at a NSU Quicky.
Take care, Jeff
Hi Jeff I've got a 1979 FZ I can't get into engage kickstart can you help me
Hi Mathew, unfortunately last June I lost the FZ50 in a shed fire along with 2 other scooters and the car, I do miss the FZ50 it was a great bike.
From what I remember when you pull the rear brake, does the kick start mechanism pull back far enough to let the kick start engage?
Thanks you mate
No problem, I hope it helps a bit
Take care, Jeff
How do you change gear
Hi, it's automatic. It has two centrifugal clutches, it smoothly transitions in to gear two after about 10 MPH.
Take care, Jeff
