In Italy it's absolutely normal to watch foreign movies and TV shows in Italian. That's possible thanks to dubbing and most Italians believe that our dubbers are the best in the world. I feel very differently about that, I think dubbing ruins the magic, even if it has the best intentions, though sometimes the result is not necessarily horrible.

I think dubbing is really necessary. The job they do is really impressive and many people would not be able to read and understand the film. I support reading subtitles but must be a choice. Most of the time is the translation that doesn't work.
In my country dubbing is quite popular, because our language has so much words and synonims, you can almost dub anything. Sometimes it sounds so real, you might even think that the hungarian version is the original. But there are some cases when the dub is just soooo cringe, there are no words for it.

On the last night of our trip to Italy last year, I turned on the TV in the hotel as we were packing. There was a movie on with George Clooney and Julia Roberts which was dubbed in Italian. I thought it was hilarious. It was just too funny to see the two of them open their mouths to speak and have Italian voices coming out. I loved it :D LOL

And last question, have there been any famous Italian movie stars doings Dubs or are they handled by professional Italians VAs?
@@TheEagleWithNoName the ALWAYS dub regardless, if something is released it's dubbed. It's mostly voice actors but there are famous actors who do it occasionally, like Giancarlo Giannini who dubs Al Pacino, etc.

In Russia dubbing is very good! Made by professional actors. Sometimes is better than original version. For example the movies with Leonardo di Caprio in Russian we watched and were wondering, how is possible that he didn’t get an Oscar!? But when watched in original, that became obvious, ah okey, not good enough for Oscar…
interesting, it must've gotten better because I watched Friends dubbed in Russian years ago (I was learning Russian) and the dubbing was horrible😂 I'm sure it's not like that anymore but my point is the original should never be changed no matter what. Glad that now, thanks to streaming, it got easier to find the original versions of anything, in any language😉

I am American but I was talking to my Italian friend about how wonderful Benedict Cumberbatch’s voice is and he had no idea. That’s when I learned about dubbing. It makes me sad that people in other countries don’t get to hear his voice, or James Earl Jones, or Sir Patrick Stewart, or lots of others!
That's right Heather, in Italy lots of people even think that our dubbers have better voices, it gets on my nerves so much, lol
@@DolceVitaChannel Ma chi 😂😂 oggi ci sono anche troppi rompipalle che dicono "l'originale è meglio", che vogliono abolire il doppiaggio non pensando che non a tutti va di leggere e guardare il film, visto che abbiamo gente che non sa l'inglese e non guarderebbero mai un film in inglese perché perderebbero tutto (quindi niente soldi in più per chi lo ha fatto).
Il doppiaggio serve per quello, punto. Tanto oggi potete cambiare la lingua che cazzo vi frega.
@@Letyparatore Che vuoi farci, l'originale è sempre meglio perchè conoscono l'inglese e, ovviamente, guardano solo prodotti inglesi. Se però devono guardarsi serie non statunitensi magicamente la fedeltà non è più importante ed i sottotitoli van più che bene. E che importa di guardare la fotografia, la mimica fisica e facciale dell'attore, ciò che avviene in scena, molto meglio leggere! Invece i libri molto meglio usarli come carta per scolare i fritti (meglio ancora se sono i fritti statunitensi).

Aqui no Brasil a dublagem é muito boa em 80% dos filmes. Um fato curioso: nós aprendemos inglês mais rapido que espanhól, mesmo sendo cercados por falantes do idioma.

I thought all Italians loved dubbed from what I've heard. It's cool to see you prefering the originals because of the reasons you said. There is just so much in the originals that you can't just replace and expect it to have the same quality. It's understandable though since, I think Italy is not that fluent in English as if it were their second tongue. In my country, people do prefer the original rather than the dub unless dubbed is more convenient for them/they can't understand the original dub and provided English subtitles.

Just in Netflix I found a lot of movies and TV series in: English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Icelandic, German, Swedish, Dutch, Euskera, Korean, Japanese, Turkish... Probably there are a lot more.
In 2022, people still talk about the dubbing of English-language films as if they were the only ones to see in the original. If you are against dubbing you have to be against dubbing regardless of the language. If, on the other hand, it's just a matter of English, I'm not interested in talking about it. Furthermore, there are TV series set in the Italian Renaissance that were shot in English because the native English speakers actors can't speak anything else while the Italian actors who acted with them had to do it first in English and then dub themselves in Italian. Are we sure that the original is always better as an absolute dogma? If the movie is set in the Bronx I can get it, but is a movie about ancient Rome or about Renaissance Florence more credible in English or in Latin and Italian respectively?
