I appreciate that honest comment/compliment. It definitely could be made nicer with a more custom frame, but I wanted to see if it could be done nicely with what I had on hand.
Nice restoration of both of the dump trucks,to bad that you couldn't find any mini tires for the mini-Tonka like the Mighty Tonka dump truck has on it,it would look good with them on it & nice job painting the rims for the mini-Tonka,it looks great 👍
Love this build. The articulation of the rear wheels is especially cool. Maybe on the next one you could do duellies on the rear.( possibly articulation on the front wheels as well).😀
Fall guy truck ????? Whhhhhhat ? Oh man I LOVED that show. Lee Majors was a childhood idol of mine, first the six million dollar man then fall guy, I loved all of that stuff growing up. Restoring a fall guy truck would be EPIC....... CAN'T WAIT
THAT IS WICKEDLY FUCKIN' COOL i HAD A TONKA DUMP TRUCK JUST LIKE THAT ONE BUT MINE ONLY HAD THE FOUR WHEELS i WOULD'VE LOVED TO HAVE THE TANDEM AXLES IN THE BACK. YOU GAVE THIS TRUCK A NEW LEASE ON LIFE. i LOVE IT
Thanks, the Fall Guy is the next big project. There has been a hold up with the decals so it will probably come out a week late. So you don't have to wait too long to see a new video, I am going to show me making a semi to match the one my dad drives to give him on Father's day.
Omg. I use to have one of those large dumpers when I was a kid. It's brought back some long forgotten memories, thank you. And as always I find your videos oddly satisfying to watch, although the sand blasting was a bit disappointing this time, but still I really enjoyed watching.
Thanks Sean, I am glad that you liked it. That is an older video and I am using new glass in the sandblaster more often to keep the view clearer. I am curious, would you like to see longer segments of sandblasting (if it is good quality) or is the length about right?
Good job....the only thing I would add is to remove EVERY rivet...cab joins, body joins, deck joins....everything...they will rust again from these areas if not completely sand blasted and primed before reassembling and top coating..
The shovel! Marvelous job on both trucks. When you put the decal on the mini, I just thought "awah". Hope dad and baby liked them. Just a thought: if you are going to wear such a nice watch while working, you might want to put a piece of masking tape on the crystal to prevent damage.
I think it's going to look kind of interesting to cool at the same time now I did have a couple of Tonka trucks when I was young but they were not ones like that or they were similar I actually I'm working on restoring a 1959 repair truck with the ladder I'm trying to decide what am I going to do with it and I got to get parts so unfortunately for two white walls are for white walls on was in the process of getting the the wheels off and it's missing a ladder when I got it in the windshields like destroyed
AMAZING, AWESOME RESTORATION THE DOUBLE AXIS LOVE, MY CONGRATULATIONS, by the way I have a question I have plans to restore a tonka of the same model. I have a question about how to get the windshield of the cabin, it is the same of the models of the 80s of different bodywork called MIGHTY TONKA because I can not get one that says from the 70s. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. THANKS
Once you remove the body section off of the frame you can access the two tabs that are bent in that hold the upper cab in place. Bend those straight and then you can lift up on the metal housing that covers the window. Thanks for watching and I hope that helps.
@@RepairRestore Thanks, but this is another question and sorry for taking your time, the windshield I must change because it is in very bad condition and I have seen on Ebay the replacements but they do NOT say which model except the Mighty Tonka I think of the 80s and my model is like yours 70s, I ask you is the same size or is there a difference and if it is not the same where I can buy it. THANKS
@@luisd.pacheco1074 If it is the Turbo Diesel style from the 80's I don't believe anybody makes one. Gasoline alley toys sells a good selection of replacement parts.
That's almost the size difference between a highway truck and a real mining truck. They run with two axles to save tires and have a tighter turning radius.
I have the finished "Fall Guy" truck sitting on the table next to me right now. Unfortunately the hood decal is coming from the UK and is late in arriving. I am hoping that it comes this week. It is driving me crazy waiting!
I would love to see these old toys customized. You know like Bitch'n Ride custom. They are steel, Some body work, custom paint, interiors, suspension, wheels and tires, light kits 3D printed parts. You know take it to the next level.
The real mighty tonka tandem have them set closer to the front, your looks off and should be moved to look more like the originals. Other then that nice modification
Hi Jake. I did not want it to look like the cement mixer Mighty Tandem. I personally don't care for the look. I wanted it look more like a regular tandem on a dump truck. Thanks for the input.
Hi Sheilah. This restoration was done before I had a powder coating set up. I did powder coat a dump truck a couple of months ago though. Thanks for watching!
I agree with you. I placed them there because I thought it looked better to scale. An actual dump truck bed pivots at a point that is higher than the tire. This Tonka dump bed pivots at a point halfway down the framerail. I had to balance the look that I wanted with the stock bed setup. Excellent catch. 😀
@@RepairRestore the Tonka truck is a replica of the large-scale mining Rock trucks and those trucks do not have Duallys like you put on the truck they are on the same axle
Fall Guy is the winner, but it will be a week late. The decals are coming from the UK and are taking longer than expected. I hope for your patience. Thanks for watching.
I know that a lot of other guys wear gloves, but I would not if I wasn't recording it so I decided not to while recording. Maybe not wise, but just keeping it real. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed the final result.
Tonka Road Grader wheels looks great... nice job
The right proportions with that second pair of wheels. Nice
Great job!!! This is the way Tonka SHOULD have made them!!!
I think so too! Thanks for watching.
I didn’t expect it to turn out that well. It looks super cool!! You did a good job!
I appreciate that honest comment/compliment. It definitely could be made nicer with a more custom frame, but I wanted to see if it could be done nicely with what I had on hand.
Nice resto and customisation. A Walking Beam rear suspension. This keeps all the wheels in contact with the ground.
I used to have one of those big Tonka dump trucks back in the early 1980s.. Great customization on this dump truck😊😊😊😊
Thank you, I really appreciate that.
That came out cool as hell....
Thanks Paul!
Now THAT was frikkin awesome!!!!
Thanks! That was a fun build!
A superb restoration Earl, but what's more, the tandem alle extension is a great improvement.
Nice restoration of both of the dump trucks,to bad that you couldn't find any mini tires for the mini-Tonka like the Mighty Tonka dump truck has on it,it would look good with them on it & nice job painting the rims for the mini-Tonka,it looks great 👍
Beautiful doubble restoration. The new movable tandem axle of the mighty Tonka looks awesome, the set wonderful.
Thank you very much!
Now that's a really cool transformation. Hope you're planning on doing more like this one. Great job! 👍👍
More to come!
Top job. Im just starting a 6 wheel conversion myself. 👍
Nice 👍
Amazing transformation into a real appearing dump truck. Thank You
for your restorations. 👍🇺🇸
Thank you so much. I think it looks so much better this way,and I love how the axles move as you drive over things.
Great job on that mighty Tonga and the mini Tonga looks nice with the color change to the wheels and frame.
Thanks. I was really pleased with the results.
Complete with a test drive, thanks buddy
You bet!
Love this build. The articulation of the rear wheels is especially cool. Maybe on the next one you could do duellies on the rear.( possibly articulation on the front wheels as well).😀
That would be cool. I would have to find a different style of tire though because tonka tires are too wide.
Now that is sharp I like that. 😀👍
Thanks 👍
Love this custom build came together just right would like to see the fall guy truck
Vote counted. I look at the truck and think,"That should have been a factory option"!

Those came off of an early Tonka grader.

Cool bogie system on the tandom axle. They both turned out great. I think it'd be cool to do an RC conversion to a tonka truck.

Did they do a Tonka dumptruck or was it the cement mixure? I also wanted the axles to be articulating as well.
