That Hotel was actually the Wells Fargo Stage coach stop between Reno and the Northern Sacramento Valley. Had a key to the gate when that was a private lake, my late Uncle helped the care taker out. I've caught many big fish out of that lake. If you hike around to the back side of that lake past the outlet and throw those spinners, you might just hook one the many big browns that cruise the shallows. One thing that might be jinxing your fishing is: scent on your hands (sunscreen, make up, lotion, etc) Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly prior to fishing. We intentional never fueled the truck on our way to go fishing, always the night before, to keep any scent off the tackle and out of the water.

Dear Hannah, I have watched videos where you considered other vehicles for camping. I’m glad to see you still have the F250 and pop-up camper, because that is what I’m leaning towards getting. Anything bigger means more money, fuel, and bigger hassles. I went to college in Montana and have traveled throughout the western states. I have boondocked and slept in pup tents, but I don’t think my wife is up for that. She needs a clean shower and toilet. Love your videos.

    Good choice of lure!
Make sure you are close enough that you can ALMOST reach the shoreline on your cast.
You want your spinner to hit near to land, and then slowwwly fall, following the taper downward of the lake floor!
Dont be affraid to add ABRUPT super fast reeling then, pause it and slow reel again.
Trout are insane and LOVE fast reeling bursts/pauses.

I have lived by fishing water my entire life. Just some general tips: when fishing barbless hook try to keep light pressure on the line at all times after he bites so the fish can't spit-out (dislodge) the hook. The fish will often times zig-zag causing slack in the line, or, when they get close to you at the boat or bank will wiggle also causing slack and enabling the hook to dislodge. In that position use the hand holding the handle to raise the rod tip to keep the line taut while using the free hand to net the fish. Also, many times I see you fishing out in the middle of a lake without the use of a depth-finder or fish locator. Usually fish like some type of contrast in underwater topography, like a submerged creek or river bed, or large rocks, or submerged trees or other bits of cover. You will probably have better luck fishing closer to the bank, but looking for outcroppings of rocks, trees or foliage to concentrate on. When you come to a rock or tree sticking up out of the water, cast beyond it so your lure is presented to 3 sides of the cover as you pull it past. I have also learned that it is almost always better to fish too slowly on the retrieve rather than to fish too fast.
One way to cut years of learning curve off of fishing is to hire a local guide and let them show you how and why they do what they do to catch fish. I think that would make an entertaining video for your fans as well. As a side note and if you want to "nerd-out" a little on fishing, if you have time do a search on "thermocline" and fishing. It covers the different behaviors of fish at different depths and the temperature differences between the depths.

Hi! Hannah: Great lake! I noticed you hold your pole near the end of the rod. Hold it up close to the reel. It gives you more leverage when you have a fish on. The same when casting, whether you cast with your left or right hand, when you hold the rod up near the reel, you have more leverage - your can cast farther. Cast with a flick of your wrist instead of using your whole arm.
