Hi! Just seeing this 2 years later so hope you get the comment. Love what you did here. I'm new to a lot of this so have one basic question: after you puttied (for lack of a better word) the holes from removing the drawer pulls, did you have to sand that area before painting? Thank you!

I have a IKEA Galant desk that has a rough wood veneer top. It's not smooth and feels like rough wood to the touch. Would I have to use a filler on top first and then stain or will I have to sand it smooth? Thanks.

Thanks, i like to paint a lot of my furniture black and i,ve learned my lesson, i,ll never use regular chalkpaint in black. I had high expectations of the Annie Sloan but waxing, even with black wax always gave a blotchy result on flat surfaces Painting with Fusion was so easy and quick, but i always wax for a bit of shine, it,s indeed mat. The DixieBelle is very expensive here in The Netherlands, but seeing your video i might choose for it next time, a mire satin finish is for me also nicer.What i also did was mixing chalkpaint with a waterbased poly and that worked perfect, When i would mix in primer i would have my one all in one paint but...the selfleveling from the DB is great. There,s a lady from the you tube channel black Sheep furniture, she makes her own recepi, it,s equal parts Bin primer, housepaint, polyurethane,and a few scoops of chalk ( calciumcarbonate) which she buys on amazon Works great for her, lots to experience if you like . I am wondering if you can mix a one of their chalk paints with a mineral pant? What would happen? I am asking because I have all three paints, silk, regular chalk in dixie belle and fusion.. and I do not want to rebuy a color when I can just mix? Thoughts please? Would it be fine? .....if I treat it more like a chalk?

Why don't you ever apply dark stain to the top of the furniture to contrast with the color of the paint? It looks like the furniture is unfinished! Just a tip!!!!
