Have Kang actually offer Scott the possibility to live the years he missed with Cassie. That’s it. A villain who lords over time, a hero with regrets about having lost time, for Odin’s sake, it wasn’t hard. They’re not even trying anymore.

According to rumors, the original ending had Ant Man remaining in the Quantum Realm but they changed it because the last Ant Man movie ended the same way - Scott trapped in the Quantum Realm. Different weight, different circumstances of course, but similar ending.
Yep, a decision he regretted because he lost time with Cassie. Which actually ADDS to the weight of his decision if he sacrifices his freedom to save her, putting himself through the same hell again. He's struggled with prison all his life, always seeking to escape, but this time, he puts himself into it willingly out of love. It could probably be played as a joke later when they inevitably rescue him - or his time in the Quantum Realm could give him a unique advantage against the Kang that surfaces as an actual Avengers level threat.
Honestly, I think my big thing about this movie is that it ends on a really sour note, at least for me.
You kind of hit the nail on that end that Scott just getting to go home after killing Kang really undercuts so much of what (I assume) the movie was going for. I get that it was trying to be a comedy at heart like the other two films, but having Kang's defeat come with virtually no sacrifice kind of undermines him as a threat. Sure, we're "told" he's destroyed entire universes, but save that one scene (which was admittedly effective for me) of him just going down to the front lines and disintegrating tons of people, I just didn't buy. Show me that, don't tell me why he's a big threat. I know he is from the comics, but the movies aren't the comics.
I don't even think you needed to kill Ant-Man, but at bare minimum the movie should have ended for them as soon as Hope came back to help him and they defeated Kang. They're trapped in the Quantum Realm now. Sure, it isn't a perfect solution, but at least defeating Kang did come with a major sacrifice. Two major Avengers (well, 1 and a half let's say) are out of the picture when more Kangs start showing up. I feel like even if they wanted a more comedic tone, it wouldn't even be THAT bittersweet of an ending. They already established the device Cassie made as a Quantum Realm satellite/radio, so the Antfam is still able to keep in touch across the two worlds, working on a way to try to open the portal again. But in the meantime, Cassie starts acting as more of a superhero back on Earth and Scott/Hope become a peacekeeping duo in the Quantum Realm (bring back Lord Krylar for a quick cameo, lord knows he just vanishes from the movie), both learning to look out for the little guy once again. Hell, I almost kind of prefer that because assuming Kang Dynasty is going to be our Infinity War equivalent, Scott and Hope returning from the Quantum Realm can be the big end credits stinger going into Secret Wars as the big "okay, now they have a fighting chance" moment.
I thought the movie was fine overall (not great, not terrible), but the ending is SO strange. I'm not even kidding, I kept waiting for some kind of fake out (like, Scott was going to look up on the street and see a giant skyscraper called like, I don't know, Kang Enterprises or something to imply Kang actually did escape or something) but the movie just ends. I genuinely wonder what happened there, if the original ending was changed because of studio mandate or something.
First of all, YES. Second of all, the ending was very weird to me too and almost definitely a result of reshoots. Evangeline Lilly’s hair is different, and the whole thing is just weird. I liked the first “eh, probably fine” joke, but then when he called it into question again super casually just seconds before the movie ended, it threw off the tone. Also, what kind of a gag to end the movie on was the cake being bad? So random. ALSO, where are Cassie’s mom and her husband?? It does not make sense that they’re completely absent from this movie. They definitely should’ve kept at least Scott in the Quantum Realm for a bit, bringing him back later on for one of the Avengers movies. I can see Scott and Hope being some of the last “OG” Avengers around after the Multiverse Saga, IF they play their cards right and start using them well.
the original ending had them stranded in the quantum realm but for some reason they reshoot the ending. Most probably to lighten the movie. That's just sad. For the last sequence in my mind I have a theory for him trapped in a time loop but that's just my mind. I don't think the kang dynasty writer has that kinda thought proccess.
We won't properly be able to guess why the ending was changed until we see more of Kang... or until they tell us themselves.
I think the movie was realy good, Obviusly it would have been better if any an died but that’s only one small part of the movie. If he didn’t die in this movie they probably have a better ending for ant man planed in the future
Actually the ending is unsettling, because according to some big theories, Scott and Hope ended in another Timeline and not 616. It was also revealed somewhere I think (probably a leak) that Hope was gonna have children as well, but that would have indicated it was another Timeline. So yeah, if that's true, then this is MUCH bigger than getting stuck in the Quantum Realm. And it makes sense they end in another Timeline as travelling through the Quantum Realm causes Time Dilation.
If Kang just said "Ok. Its never the end for me" when he "dies" in this movie, and at the same time Ant Man kept locked in quantum realm without Cassie being able to comunicate with him anymore, i think i would have much more respect for the construction of both characters. For Cassie it could be a great way to start her path. Also, i would like so much if the movie had a hint about a conection between Ant man´s Time heist idea in endgame and Kang´s origins, if you mess with time, it tends to mess back.
Any of these outcomes would've worked so well but also would've kicked off the new phase perfectly, especially when introducing Kang as the next big bad..awesome video!
I also wrote a plot for Quantumania myself, this is it, I hope you like it. Also, I'm not some big writer or a professional, I just write for fun and moreover I didn't give that much thought to this one so it might be good, it might be bad, it might be worse than the movie, or better idk:
(...now I also wrote one for MoM and in my plot's post credit, Kang arrives out of nowhere in MoM and kills Doctor Strange. Strange falls down on the floor and then his body disappears as if it teleported somewhere else. It looks as if he is dead but then in Quantumania:)
Kang is not trapped in the Quantum Realm. He is simply using the Quantum Realm as a common gateway to travel throughout different Timelines. We learn that Janet did not save Kang but before leaving, she caused something that in turn allowed Kang to come there.
Cassie doesn't build a device in this. Instead, Hank and Janet are studying signals that are coming FROM the Quantum Realm.
Cassie is left behind but all the others go into the Quantum Realm when the device malfunctions, as Scott saves her. Kang captures Ant-Man and the Wasp. Hope and Janet fall to another place. Also, before this we see a cameo of Jocasta that was made by Hank as an assistant.
Kang sends Scott and Hope throughout the various realms across Quantum Realm on a quest to open 6 rifts to form the Cosmic Cube. He doesn't do it himself as it was a rather dangerous task and could kill him. Now these rifts open up straight to the Beyond realm, which is how the Cosmic Cube is so powerful. (This is the real Cosmic Cube and not the Tesseract). In return, Kang will offer Scott time to spend that he had missed (and he is not lying). We will see them venture the realm
Janet's story will continue and she will tell about it to Hank as they try to save themselves from Kang discovering them, but then the Quantum Realm citizens find them. Janet knew them so they take them to their place. But they are mad at her for unleashing Kang on that place. Still, it was an accident and they can't give her to Kang since then they all will be revealed out of their hiding as well.
Scott and Hope will encounter M.O.D.O.K at the end during their quest to form the Cosmic Cube. They were returning back now after forming the cube. He was fixed by Kang when he came there, but Kang abandoned him and threw him somewhere down the realm as waste. He wants revenge on Kang, as well as Scott and Hope. He attacks them and takes the Cosmic Cube, but suddenly he gets transported to the main world where Cassie is.
He then tries to use the cube to kill her. But to his surprise the cube doesn't do anything. Cassie takes advantage of this and uses a trap made by Hank in his lab and throws it at him. She realises that the others are in danger, and takes the cube hidden with her.
She had stopped and fixed the device and located the signals successfully. She decides to wear the Stature suit, a suit that was in development by Hank for her, and turns the device on to go the the realm and help the others after leaving M.O.D.O.K imprisoned in the device.
Hank and Janet start a revolution with the people and attack Kang's place. Kang spots and recognises Janet and gets her and Hank captured. Scott and Hope return. But they don't have the cube. They are surprised to see Hank and Janet captured.
Meanwhile, Cassie reaches Kang's place and enters the place in shrunk form after dodging the guards. But to her surprise she discovers Doctor Strange there who is put in a scanner like device, with both his arms tied to the wall with some device that prevented him from using his hands. It is revealed that Strange was responsible for sending the signals. Strange's cape is also put in a container. He looked very pale and weak. Cassie defeats the guards, but causes an alarm to start. She quickly rescues Strange and the cape, but Strange is so weak that he can't use any powerful forms of magic. He tells her that they need to leave the place as fast as possible. Cassie tells him about the others, Strange tells her to bring them here asap.
Scott and Hope arrived without the Cube, which infuriates Kang and he starts to attack Scott and Hope. He sends Hank and Janet with his guards to the prison. Cassie and Strange rescue Hank and Janet back. Strange tells that Kang has a lab which contains a rift device that Kang uses to travel but it needs a power source. Hank and Janet realise that it is the thing that Kang needed. Cassie reveals the cube was with her and they use it to power the rift. They find the lab. It is filled with unimaginably advanced tech. Janet finds an object with unusually high Quantum Energy in it, and they take it. The rift opens. But they plan to detonate the device so Kang can never use it again.
Scott and Hope, who were fighting Kang, get a message from Cassie that they can go back finally. Scott and Hope trick Kang for a bit and run towards the rift. Kang realises that the rift had been opened. He also rushes towards it. Hank, Janet and Cassie tell them that they only have a few seconds to enter the rift. Strange leaves through the rift. The others wait for Scott and Hope. But as soon as they reach, Kang comes by surprise and captures Cassie. Scott goes back to free her but pushes Cassie towards the rift and she returns back. But Scott is left behind and dies in the massive explosion of the device, whereas Kang is almost unconscious with his suit destroyed. We see someone approaching from the back. He then picks up Kang with his telekinesis and then kills Kang. It is revealed to be another Kang variant, but he is revealed only from the back and not his face. He starts laughing as he looks at Kang and Ant-Man.
Scott does not return back and dies, and thus all the others are shocked. Cassie breaks down. (This Cassie is bent on taking revenge on Kang later, and she joins the Young Avengers in memory of her dad.)
The post credit scenes:
Kang's Council, where we learn that it was Immortus who killed Kang at the end. He says that how neither Rama Tut nor Scarlet Centurion killed him, it was him who did it. He plans to attack the Sacred Timeline and also to recruit Avengers on his own side.
Post-credit scene 2:
The strange device that was detected to have a lot of quantum energy is being researched by Hank. Suddenly, the device blasts open and enter the Fantastic 4. (Later we learn that it was Doctor Doom who is still in an alliance with Kang and suggested him to go in the past and trap the F4 in the late 19th century.
(I haven't decided if the F4 gets their powers from Quantum Realm or they already had it before, probably the latter I guess)
I'm not usually a fan of Macguffin stories, but I thought this was really cool. Would've been a waaaay better movie.

@@hritviknijhawan1737 I really liked the idea of Kang using ti Quantum Realm for travel, rather than being imprisoned there. A cool mirror to how the Avengers used it in Endgame. Also to add, I like the whole "love the 5 years you missed with Cassie", would've been the perfect spark to entice Scott

They could have saved yellow jacket like after the events of antman 1 Darren was saved by kang and he upgraded his suit with a new body. A upgraded yellow jacket. He serves to kang untill he meets Scott once again and later realise Kang is a evil guy and teams up with hope and Scott to stop kang and get the family back to home. Scott's sacrifices himself and save his family and Darren come back to home.
Great video! I loved your analysis of the hero's journey and also the idea of Cassie founding the Young Avengers (good alternative for the epilogue or post credits)
I personally would have appreciated Janet being killed due to Kang's revenge. Perhaps Hank also dies attempting to save her, or is severely wounded.
Have you heard of the theory of Kang being stuck in the probability storm rather than being killed? It'd be great to think as the audience Kang is killed only to see an epilogue scene of him fighting off clones of himself, shouting out Scott Lang's name out of vengeance.
I'd have liked to see Hope and Scott stuck in the Quantum Realm as the portal, like you said, is destroyed. Hank could be the 'outfitter' of the Young Avengers. Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars could then open with Kang freeing himself from the probability storm, hunting down Scott and Hope who have built up the Quantum Realm societies, and perhaps killing off Scott as a homage to Infinity War's opening, or plainly showcasing his presence

I agree with just about everything you said. Movie wasn't a horrible way to start phase 5, but it could have been better
I think it also would have been neat if we saw kang killing certain avengers in that flashback when Janet was helping fix the time chair, or a brief moment of kang holding a bloody captain america shield, or a broken Iron man helmet, or a bloody cloak of levitation and ordering modok to take it to his trophy room.
I also think the movie really did modok dirty. His design is great (even if its goofy to some) but his redemption was just so out of knower and I think it would have been better if we saw kang treat modok like complete shit all throughout the film, and modok still betrays kang, but still remains evil and alive, so we can have him escape somehow and start A.I.M
Also what you said about kang not being threatening. Befor infinity war we saw thanos do squat, so how were people suppose to believe he was a threat then. I still think they have a chance to make kang a true menace
I'm still confident 2023 will be a better year for marvel with stuff like guardians 3, secret invasion, across the spiderverse, spiderman 2, X men 97 and stuff like the marvels and ironheart being delayed so they could have more work put into them

@@OverlyPositiveFanboy Thanos also didn't have a movie where he was the main villain and lost before infinity war, sure the people he sent to do that job lost, but never him so we didn't get any semblance of his actual power. The first time we did see what he could do was in infinity war, and he was extremely menacing and beat the heroes. In ant man 3 we got a chance see a semblance of Kang's power but he wasn't that menacing since he lost and none of the heroes sacrificed anything in return.
The film could also ended with Scott now having more active role, helping his daugther and embracing his life as super hero. Maybe even having realize that his battle with Kang is far from over and have the post-credit scene with Scott contacting the other mcu teasing the beginning of New Avengers group (which according to rumors might happen in Cap America 4).
I probably keep Cassie a delinquent, and Scott & Hope have to train to be a superhero to keep her out of prison and at first she’s far from thrilled in doing so, and we actually see her & Hope sparing and she gets her ass handed to her and when she’s in combat she’s lost and confused and needs constant saving
Well he kinda thought about if killing Kang was a bad decision which could’ve killed everyone. There’s someone worse coming. Until he decided to get rid of those thoughts just being all happy again
@@MetalMadness_00 I don't see necessity in keeping Cassie a delinquent. Her just wanting to help create drama with her father with Cassie seeing super hero as fantasy not aware of the danger while Scott wants to keep his daugther save but having to accept her new independence.
Plus this prevents Cassie from becoming the typical annoying brat.

@@alexandrefrauches132 I mean I’m ok with the idea just because of blip stuff she lost her parents, so who’s to say she didn’t grow up being an angry & irrational person and maybe have a conversation with Kang saying she wasn’t like that at the start but it eventually evolved into being a delinquent because she felt it was the only way to survive, so when we see her mini hero’s journey she’s pretty much far from the person we’re introduced in the movie and yeah I keep Scott & Hope trapped and that sets ups her arc in young avengers, maybe have a post credit scene showing how better she’s become at fighting.
Scott dying in the film would also fit with most of MCU trilogies, with each one ending with the hero making sacrifice of something of his personal life:
- Captain America ended his trilogy by choosing to save Bucky and becoming a fugitive and breaking his friendship with Tony.
- Iron Man ended his trilogy by destroying his suits, representing him no longer feeling dependent on his armor and trying to have normal life
- Thor ended his films by accepting the death of the women he loved and becoming father figure for Gorr daughter (bringing his whole drama with Odin full circle)
- Spider Man ended by giving up his life as Peter Parker, erasing people memories of him in order to save the universe.
I wonder if this means that Captain Marvel third film will have Rogue as the villain and Carol in the end giving up her powers, fitting her arc about beliving in herself to be special instead being dependent on her powers and people opinion.

IMO, I would’ve had Gorr kill Thor and have Beta Ray Bill take up the mantle. Or at least have Gorr befit his God butchering title…
And none of that happened and instead we get a weak one off waste of a villain, not to mention the actor playing him also wasted.

Honestly, a variation the movie that was advertised in the trailers could’ve been one of the best mcu movies.
Have it be about only Scott and Cassie getting stuck in the realm. Cassie gets kidnapped by Kang, and Kang makes Scott go back to the normal world and steal a device he needs if Scott wants to keep Cassie save. Kang also offers Scott more time with Cassie, which he lost because of getting stuck in the realm.
Scott obviously knows he needs to stay quiet about why, but with the help of the ant-family, they plan a heist.
At one point he of course is forced to reveal everything, at which point Janet tells everyone about Kang.
They go back to the realm, and use the device as bait. They rescue Cassie and either succeed or get captured.
That way the movie could’ve been about personal stakes vs universal stakes, and which takes priority for Scott. It could’ve been one of the most unique movies in the mcu, with one of the most unique and nuanced arcs, and actually would’ve gone back to it’s roots from Ant-Man 1 with the heist. It also would’ve been able to keep all the shrinking and it’s unique visual style.
I REALLY enjoyed Ant-Man 3, I watched it last night so it's still pretty fresh and I thought it was a great start to a new phase! However, I do agree he should have died or AT LEAST gotten trapped with or without Hope. When the portal opened up again I was a little disapointed but I like the idea of Scott being so paranoid of Kang that he'd probably go to the avengers and give a first hand perspective on how powerful and dangerous the other versions could be. But they could have just given that role to Cassie instead. But non the less, great video as always!
at the end i really thought they would let ant man locked in the quantum realm being a leader for the refugees and trying to keep Kang in there. But no, they opened a big precedent on Cassie being able to open a portal to quantum realm whenever she wants.
@@PokeBeardTCG Do you mean at the end of Antman 2?? I guess it would be odd to end 2 movies the same way. But this would be different. That was a cliff-hanger that got paid off in Endgame. This would be Scott and Hope being stuck in the Quantum realm permanently and would have to stay there and help rebuild. It would also be a good chance for character growth, at the start of the film Scott wants to get out, telling Cassie this isn't their fight. Well now Scott has made it his fight, by choosing the save the rest of the world from Kang, and now is gonna help rebuild anything Kang destroyed during the rein of his empire.

I kinda got the impression Kang trapped Scott in an alternate universe at the end, like at the end of the Loki series. One eerily similar to his, but just "off" in certain ways. It's why he knows on some subconscious level that it's wrong and actually bumps up the scale of Kang's abilities. It's like he's saying "defeat me? I'll just trap you in the universe next door. I can do that as many times as I want." He's like if Rick Sanchez decided to be a conqueror.

I haven't seen the movie yet myself, however, now I know Scott didn't die I wonder why I need to see it, because as you said it defeats Kang as a threat and opposition in the movie.
Let's not forget knowing how marvel weaves their movie events ,if something this obvious didn't happen like this, best believe they're saving this guy(scott) for something else down the line, who know he might have died in another universe or timeline and then and he discovers that he should have died while fight Kang and because he didn't he is the first domino that leads to kangs dynasty conquering the multiverse
The ending you told was so much more satisfying and realistic, I was so upset at the end that he wasn't killed by kang the guy who literally says he killed the whole Avengers team over and over in different timelines
All they had to do was trap Scott in the Quantum Realm and have everybody THINK he died. Then, you could bring him back in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars
I feel like something that should’ve happened with or without Scott dying is Kang winning, if he’s really the new Thanos then he really needs to show that, either Kang still has control of the Quantum Realm but also manages to get out, maybe he kills Scott, maybe not, something that maybe could’ve also happened for this which can have Scott survive but there are still serious consequences and Kang is shown to be a threat that will give the Avengers trouble is him destroying the Quantum Realm, he seriously shows off his power then and shows he’s someone the Avengers need to be on the lookout for, and Scott survives but Cassie now blames herself for the Quantum Realm being destroyed thinking if she hadn’t made that device sure the people there would still be fighting against Kang but they at least hopefully would still be alive and Kang wouldn’t have escaped

This is a great video, thank you for saying this. This shows me that you really care for this franchise and a marvel fan. I was tired of seeing people have blind hatred for it. Whats disappointing is that the original ending was taken out, for it to have the “good ending”. It’s sad that Fiege isn’t listening to the criticisms
I do agree that Scott's storyline in this movie was weak (and not just his line), and that Kang just doesn't end up as scary as Thanos or Zemo. And I want to offer my take on how the story could have been wrapped.
Essentially, both Kang and Scott are resting on their laurels in this film - they are both emboldened by their former merits, but for all that, both find themselves in uncomfortable positions where they must once again regain their feet and prove their greatness. Also in the trailers for the film, Kang notes that Scott "has a daughter, but he's lost a lot of time, and so is he." So why not combine the two concepts?
Let's imagine a movie where the Ant-Man's exaltation isn't just reduced to a set of jokes, but becomes a real problem when our hero realizes that he's gotten so carried away with himself that he dumped Cassie again. That he doesn't know what she lives for, what she wants, or how she feels about him. The family dinner slowly turns into an argument when Cassie accuses Scott of having become so big that he can't see other people underneath him, and he, feeling guilty about his actions, along with Hope tries to catch up quickly, but here comes the SCENE.
In my version, nothing changes significantly until Kang shows up. The fame of the Conqueror has gone far beyond his personality, and so has his ability to manipulate time (show, for example, how he uses various parts of the Quantum Reality to speed up/delay the development of his and other civilizations). Kang appears to the heroes as a noble ruler who perceives the rebels as terrorists and, recognizing the Ant-Man, offers him a deal - a happy life for his family in exchange for his peaceful existence in Quantum Reality.
Scott realizes that the man in front of him is not a kind man, but at the same time, he is Fearful. He is afraid of losing, afraid of losing his chance to get back together with Cassie, and afraid of losing his loved ones. So, in the end, he makes a deal with the Devil. At the same time, Cassie, because of her rebellious nature (plus, she can get close to the rebels along the way), sees Kang as a pure villain, and therefore she perceives her father's decisions as betrayal. And, paradoxically, while Scott wanted to get closer to his daughter, he only alienates her from himself.
Then Kang proposes the following deal - by manipulating time, he will bring Scott back in time, give him a "second chance," but to do so he must complete his task. Again, the plot then follows the same path as in the movie, but when Hope saves Scott, there is a dialogue between them. Scott confesses that he is ashamed of himself and that he does not believe he can regain his daughter's trust after his actions, but Hope reminds him that her own mother has been absent from her life for almost forty years, and yet they have managed to bond and become a real family to each other. Inspired by Hope's words, Scott decides that he's had enough of being Kang's servant and will act like a true hero.
Kang manages to win their first fight, but Scott sees him as the same huddled and proud man as he was, and together with Hope, Janette, Hank and Cassie arranges an unexpected riot against him, rallying rebels and super-ants, and will also convince M.O.D.O.К to help them, reminding that earlier Darren wanted to rise over Pym, so why wouldn't he and Kanga be dislodged. And initially, yes, they really give him a worthy rebuff, but here, when the Conqueror's army is destroyed, Kang is really angry.
Yes, he may have rested on his laurels, but he is still terribly strong. He kills M.O.D.O.K. and deals with the rebellion. Taking advantage of the moment, Janette opens the portal and offers to run, so that later he warns the Avengers about this threat - he was still able to beat him a lot. Cassie and Scott share a moment of kinship, but Kang appears on stage and he is ready to vomit and throw. Scott realizes that they cannot beat him, and therefore with the last strength pushes Cass into the portal and destroys him, this time - forever. Kang brutally beats Ant-Man but does not kill. He realizes that he "lost count of time" in Quantum Reality, and that Scott Lang, like no one else, can remind him what the world is like outside. The film ends with the Ant Family trying to pull Scott out while the half-dead is dragged by Kang.
Subsequently, with this premise, you can do anything - Ant-Man could escape from Kang later; he could become the new rebel leader; or maybe Kang transforms him into something terrible, as he did with Darren (for some reason, Annihilus comes to my mind, especially with these super-ants). And why Hope, Janette, Hank and Cassie did not immediately collect the Avengers to explain that in the Quantum Reality they stayed much longer than they thought, and they already exist in the time of "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty".

If they'd had Scott and Hope return only to find they're in a world where Kang dominates, that would have been a much better ending. Clearly, something was changed in reshoots, maybe they worried they'd already done the "trapped in Quantum realm" in the last film but just ending like that felt lame.
Honestly I would’ve Made a stand-alone Kang the conqueror movie .. Showing his origins, him discovering time travel in our universe. & eventually how he found multiversal travel, him fighting different versions of himself & fighting different versions of avengers & hero’s across the multiverse..Leading to him being trapped in the quantum realm. Leading into Antman 3.

According to the leaks, that was the original ending. There were reshoots within the last few months.
This is wayy better than the actual movie imo.
Also if I were to write it I would've written Modok as the main antagonist of the entire movie as his personal vendetta against Hank and Scott. Janet would've trapped Kang in the core of his seat battery thing, so Kang won't show up until the end of the movie. If you would excuse me this will be my take on Quantumania.
When Modok (aka Darren) got shrunk by Scott in the first movie he landed in the middle of one of the colonies. The people there patched him up and made him a suit that can fits his body. Afterwards Modok accidentally stumbles on Kang's Palace, but Kang isn't here because Janet trapped him in the battery thing. Darren being an absolute genius as shown in the first movie would reverse engineer the Kang tech and make himself more powerful. Eventually he evolved into the Modok we see in the movie as he lures out a signal to attract Cassie. Cassie thinking people that there are people on the quantum realm needs help, so she asks Scott and the others to join her down there. Janet was worried at first, but she thinks it's alright for Scott and the rest to go down since she trapped Kang.
The movie goes on as usual, but instead of Kang, Modok will be having more screentime. We won't know his identify until afterwards as his masks will be on for most of the movie.(We won't see humpty dumpty here lol) Modok threatens Scott to help him get something from the core which can help him get back to normal. Scott goes and meets Jonathan Majors inside.
Jonathan Majors will persuade Scott to help him as they both want to get out of the quantum realm, so they both get what they want and escaped the battery thing. After that Modok will confront Ant Man for the cure thing. Cassie will escape imprisonment of the help of Hank, which showed up with his ants. The final battle starts between the protagonists and Modok, which gets more and more frustrated throughout the fight. At one point Scott will break part of his mask and sees Darren inside. Knowing that it's Darren inside, Hank and Scott attempts to persuade Modok to stop. In the end Darren stopped fighting and agreed to trust Hank one last time to cure him. But before they can leave the quantum realm, Kang shows up.
During the fight between Ant Man and Modok, Kang went back into his palace and got back his gear. He unleashes his full wrath on people who joined up with Scott to fight Modok, and they soon retreat when they saw Kang. Kang kills Janet for revenge and threatens Scott to open up a portal to get back up there. Wanting to atone the damage caused on the Lang family, Modok attacks Kang to save Cassie, but get killed in the process. The protagonists run back to the tower and opens up the portal. Kang chases them and fights them, and the fight goes on like the movie did. Except this time Kang escapes through the portal and shuts it down, leaving the protagonists in the quantum realm. Scott and Cassie will attempt to help the quantum realm people to fight Kang when they get out, that is if they ever get out from there.

Honestly I do think Scott should have survived but stayed in the Quanturealm for a simple reason: *EVERYONE ASSUMED HE WOULD DIE*
Shots of him bleeding, his fight with Kang, everyone was prepared for his death, but his immense triumph of surviving Kang was a huge plotwist that also makes sense regarding "the little guy", don't underestimate him.
Tho yes, he should have stayed in the Quanturealm, and if you want the same impact on his death, make his daughter believe he died. Fitting.

If you were to make more than one change, I have similar thoughts to everyone else: I think Kang promises Scott AND Hope more time with their families. It involves a heist at the beginning of the film, with the rest being Scott living in a reality where Cassie is still a kid, while Hope is living AS a kid, with both her parents. However, Kang is causing damage to the timeline, so they must reject these realities, stopping Kang by destroying the power source he used to rewrite time. It ends with both Scott and Hope having to stay in the Quantum-Realm to make sure Kang can't escape again, setting up the next Avengers, but also ending the film in a way where both characters have to give up the things they had in that other reality, with Scott and Hope now potentially never seeing their families again.
Feel like we're gonna get a leak or something saying that the original plan was to kill off Scott, because it was like they were setting that up from the start and just kinda dropped it after a rewrite.
Hi, cool vid i did a bit of thinking and rewriting myself with this movie and made 2 versions the first one is kinda like your version but its Hank Pym who makes the sacrifice and dies. This makes kang look like a genuine badguy and keep the trend of mentors dying. The 2e version M.O.D.O.K is the mail villain and Kang the guy pulling the strings, like with Thanos and Ronin in GOTG vol 1, 95% the same as the theatrical release M.O.D.O.K loses to Ant-man and Kang kills him in the end credit scene.
Both versions Kang is no pushover but a genuine badguy.
The 1e version has a end with a impact on our hero's.

I completely agree, when I left the theater I thought the ending felt too forced. It was set up so nicely for Antman to die or lose and then out of nowhere they succeeded, it felt really forced.
It’s sad because the trailer seemed to set that up. It would’ve been an interesting payoff if it happened.
Okay, I liked the movie a lot, but I also see all of its problems and agree that it needed more weight. Since Scott and Cassie’s arc was about looking out for the little guy and the Pym family’s arc was about being more open with each other, I think Scott should’ve been trapped in the Quantum realm and he now leads the rebellion (they could even play it for laughs with him being like “another day at work” but it would still be consequential). Meanwhile, back in their reality, the whole Pym family works together to find a way to bring back Scott. I think a nice way to close this arc would be the symbolic passing of the torch by the parents in giving the company to Hope, which I think they should have saved for the end (also Hope should’ve been the one to build the thing that got them into the Quantum Realm but that’s a different discussion). And then while Scott is fighting to reunite with Cassie someday, Cassie could form the Young Avengers, who I’ve been thinking for ages should fight a time traveling Kid Kang. Honestly, this movie could’ve been great if they’d just tightened up the character arcs and given it just a touch more weight (and also changed some weird editing choices I feel they made lol).
I don't know if this would have worked, but what if Kang was de-aged down to and infant or child and raised to become Ironlad (not by the Pyms/Langs, but someone else)? I guess I was just going off Endgame when they were experimenting with time-travel and aged Scott forward and backward. But then, it leaves a plot hole of how young Nathaniel Richards learns of his possible future self and aims to defeat him. I don't know, it might have to do with the "family" theme Antman movies are known for.

I genuinely thought that at least Hank & Janet would die in this film. If Marvel wanted to play it safe & keep Scott Lang around, at least kill off his mentors so that there could be weight at the end. This could also start the wasps dark path becoming the Red Queen.

Also don’t have everyone in Scott’s family berate him for being a successful author and spending time with his family. I hated how Cassie got on his case for “not doing enough” when he was *INSTRUMENTAL IN SAVING THE UNIVERSE*. He used the Pym Particles to help save the world, she used them irresponsibly to shrink a cop car and brushing off Scott’s understandable warnings about how dangerous the Pym Particles are
I guess the idea was that just because world was saved, doesn’t fix everything right away. The world still exist with the after effects. I agree it could’ve been done better with Scott and his family.
I can only imagine that they didn't do this because they have some plan for him in the future. It makes too much sense for it to never have been on the table.
In my rewrite, MODOK would be the main villain. For the first 2/3 it would play out nearly the same. But when its time to go home, Darren says "i dont think so". The kang army turn their guns on the ant man family and kangs suit and equipment turns against him. Darren will then explain for years hes waited for this moment. For his ultimate revenge. To finally be taken seriously. Kang tries to order his guards and equipment to shoot MODOK but it doesnt work. Theyre no longer his. MODOK hacked into his tech in secret for years and was plotting to betray him this entire time. Kang, in a fit of rage, steals the last of the particles and escapes, never to be seen again for the rest of the movie. MODOK orders the family to be imprisoned and Pym forced to make another machine and more particles. Cassie, Hope, and Scott have their suits confiscated and MODOK gloating to them as theyre strung up in cells. Scott will ask why hes doing this. MODOK will freak out and blame scott for his deformity and situation. And their arrival in the quantum realm gave him all he needed to finally enact his plan. MODOK then leaves to check on hanks progress. Just then, a cluster of loyal ants bring cassie, hope, and scott suits for them to escape. Turns out a few quabtum citizen friends got ahold of one of their helmets and is using it to deliver them. The suits are not their personal ones, but stolen from kangs armory: its the Classic comic suits as a homage to the fans. They are freed from the cells and put them on. Darren is shown screaming at hank to work faster and hank tells him its finished. MODOK will gloat and say he's going to escape and trap the family here forever. Just then, the ant family burts into the room. They fight modok for a bit until modok gets the upper hand and is holding them all by the throat, threatening to kill them now. Hank then, in a drastic desperate attempt, smashes the pym particle tube on modok and the explosion causes them all to grow regular size and escape the realm. The family awakes but MODOK is nowhere to be seen. They all dread where darren is but decide not to go after him, assuming he's most likely still growing due to needing a longer time from the quantum realms exposure. In the post credits scene, we see a board meeting at Darren's company from the first movie. All of a sudden the door is blown open and MODOK with a few of his quantum army men take the place hostage. The board will recognize him and MODOK will say hes here to take his company back and there will be major changes. One of the board members will be held by the throat and ask "Well Darren...what are you exactly aiming for". Modok will then say "What do I AIM for? You know...that gives me an idea to...rebrand" and it cuts to black, confirming Darren will turn his company into AIM

At this point, the only thing im confident in with Disney is the fact that they can no longer imbue true consequences on any mainline characters.
1) Kang from the base story timeline “dies” at the end - 2nd end credits scene hints that Loki is aware of that Kang’s presence right in front of him suddenly
2) Scott was stuck, portal was opened again.
But the most unforgivable one
3) When the ants show up at the end of the movie and overwhelm Kang by flooding him by the thousands, then suddenly Kang is 1 v 1 vs scott in front of his chair with no explanation of how he got out of the literal anthill situation he was in not even 5 minutes ago in runtime.
4) Why didn’t Kang just hold the power source like he did in the flashback to stop the heroes the same way he stopped Hope’s mom when it was just Kang and Hope?
After someone on youtube said the title should have just been called Quantumana with antman being highlighted just reinforces Marvels/ Disney drone workforce giving no room for artistic input.
It would have made sense if Scott and his family narrowly running away with their lives. Let Hank Pym sacrifice himself. End this movie with a sour note for crying out loud
1.) I agree that he could’ve died or gotten stuck in the Quantum realm. However, I also like the idea that he’s now paranoid about if he thought he saved the world and wether or not he actually killed everyone.
2.) I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to say it looks like Spy Kids. It looks much better. I get Modok looking like Mr. Electric. But if any movie looks like a spy kids movie it’s Green Lantern 2011. I say Oa look nothing more than a Sharkboy & Lavagirl movie.

Personally, I don't know if I'd like an ending where Scott gets trapped in the Quantum Realm. If that was what had happened, then it would have been the third movie in a row where Scott got trapped down there.
I would have loved to see them get more introspective with Scott. He's the guy who keeps making the choice he thinks is right and getting kicked in the teeth for it. Goes to jail, gets locked up, gets stuck and lost for five years. Pretty much every time...except the last time.
Last time the problem is to big. He needs help. He begs Stark to try. And it works. They save the day. But Stark is the one who has to pay the price. And there Scott is standing with the family that Stark saved looking at Stark's daughter, a little girl who will never get to see her father again. A girl who is Cassie's age when he finally gets released from prison.
The opening should have been him remembering all the time with Cassie. Then when he dies at the end, the memories he goes through take on a different tone.
i saw the clips of spy kids 3d and knew i had to click. i watched a review talikng about the green screen in antman and how closterphobic it felt. i immediately thought of spy kids and why i enjoyed the look and the movie a lot more than ant man. i thought i wud be the only one to make a goofy connection like that.

Iron Patriot, Iron Lad, Patriot, should all be the same character. I know Cheadle was last scene being Iron Patriot but if you see the best and last designs for Iron Patriot he looks generic and non-heroic. If they actually had the balls to kill of Scott in this movie, it would've been a big deal, because it's never been done before in the MCU. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, none of them killed off their protagonists in the last installment.
Scott is just a father that became a small crook, then a small hero, then a world criminal, then a time traveler and then a superhero that fought an alien army and helped save the universe. That's a trajectory that nobody expected, specially from Ant-Man, so his death would be the perfect conclusion to his journey.
He's just an average guy like anyone else, so his death not only would be realistic, it would inspire anyone as someone that made mistakes but chose to redeem themselves for the best of others above their own losses, and because of that, changed the world into a better place, and that's what a true hero does.
If they're not gonna kill off Scott, at least kill off Hank. He's the one that was responsible for the many things Scott used to pull off to become this big figure, but he gets almost no recognition what-so-ever. He's literally Ant-Man and nobody knows who he is, that's just... sad. Death would be mercy at this point.
Here's what I would do: Seeing how much powerful Hank is for inventing Pym particles, Kang offers Scott to have his time back with Cassie in turn of being able to meet Hank, but he kills Hank. Hope blames Scott while Janet calms her down, so as he's feeling guilty, Scott sacrifices himself, telling Hope to take care of Cassie.
If they want to bring Scott and Hank back, just use time travel or the multiverse for them to show up in the 'Avengers' movies, as a way to settle Cassie, Hope and Janet's losses.

Well this movie did subvert my expectations, I thought they would be killing off Ant Man and they didn't. Maybe they can in the future with a much more emotional punch, but they would waste that character's sacrifice as sacrifice would be much more in Avengers Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Death is a Marvel movie is a small inconvenicence. In comics no one truly dies. A lot of people disappeared in the blip, so people are known to disappear, seems to be now a common thing.

Yeah I just read through the comments and it's definitely the fans that need to be fixed not the movies the movies are fine it's you all in your expectations and may be the way they format these trailers that need to be fixed. Phase 1 and 2 were not better we were just grateful back then and didn't have any expectations on these films. Look at werewolf by night it's just like any other phase 4 production the only difference is people had 0 expectations.
If nothing else, this movie (and this phase in general) proved that critics and audiences aren't afraid to criticise Marvel.

Much as though I agree that Scott could and maybe should have died I think it would have been more satisfying if he had simply failed, Kang escapes, that is the catastrophe he helped cause. Scott needed to fail here, whether he died, got stuck in the quantum realm, or even if he did survive and escape he has to live with the knowledge of his failure and work towards repairing his mistake.
Another major failure in the story telling was that Scott needed to make the genuinely selfish decision, being blackmailed into doing Kang’s biding removes Scott’s agency and lessens the impact of any sacrifice if he had died or remained behind to save everyone else. It would have made much more narrative sense for Scott to willingly agree, realise his mistake, and make a sacrifice to rectify this. Not trying to say I could have written this film better and I imagine there is some control from the studio as to where they are going with Kang’s story but he’s not the only character this film needed to serve, what about the little guy?
