Wale did not claim nigeria when he was hot because it was not kool to be African at the time. remember being African only recently became trendy not more than 5 years ago
Let me help you guys... Yvonne Orji (insecure), Uzo Aduba(american pastoral) , Chiwetel Ejiofor(12 years of slavery), Caroline Chikezie (supernatural), John Boyega (Star Wars) just to mentioned a few other Nigerians making it really big in hollywood today not on your list. with luv from @pupatyno
Ayeee shoutout to Tunez! ... & Wale was one of the biggest artist to perform at the Nigerian Independence Day Parade in NYC back in like 2008 (can't remember the year)
ABS Show, please get your facts right. I hear this a lot about Wale not repping Nigeria when he first came out; and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Wale has always repped Naija and Africa do not sure where this rumor came from. Heck he Became famous after his third mixtape, yet on his 2nd mixtape he has a song calle “cause I’m African” on it, talking about FUFU!!! On his debut album, one of the bonus songs you get off of iTunes is “My Sweetie”. And it came out in 2009. And yo forget all that, this guy kept his Nigerian name as his stage name. Just imagine yourself as rapper trying to do that and succeed. Okay, he made his Nigerian name is stage name, what could be more repping Naija than that? So yes wale been repping from the get go.
Make your little research well. Wale represented Nigeria from his song he released after appearing on Amy Winehouse music. He did this before getting his big signing from mayback music. Liking the show, keep it up...
Sooooooooo, where is Michael Blackson on this list. In my opinion, he's the number one African that puts Africa on the radar in Hollywood. He makes jokes in his African accent, always talking about fufu and jollof. Michael Blackson came wayyyyy before all of these people y'll mentioned. Come on guys, you can do better
