Isaac McKinney yep it's already made up for Madden. I can't imagine it's that hard for EA Fifa to just walk down the hall or shoot an email or however it works to the Madden folks for the basic template.

Highbury was too small for any renovations and the houses were just too close, I think the same can be said for White hart lane. Bigger stadia just mean bigger profit. But I hope Liverpool, Manchester united or even Everton don't leave their stadiums. And the same goes for Chelsea, Leeds etc. But that is just my opinion.

The problem is that Pele and Beckenbauer were playing for New York in the late 70s already. So football in america hasnt really evolved since then. They also didnt qualify for the world cup which is certainly not going to help for the popularity in the US. I just hope that soccer will finally become as big as it is supposed to be for the size of the country.

They can call it whatever they want. What is your beef with how another country names a sport? Aussies, South Africans, Japanese, Irish and New Zealanders call it soccer because they have other sports with the name 'football' in it. If on a saturday I happen to be playing a game of rugger, no-one either takes offence or are confused if I exclaim, 'Let's smash a game of footy'. Are you equally offended by the names 'fußball' and 'calcio'? Chill out.

Sick of the people mad because we call football soccer. Some of you say things in a different language but it means the same. But you want to get on us for naming it different? And the only reason we named it soccer was because American football was already well established by the time some kind of soccer was played in the USA. But of course we really don't care what u guys think we are still falling in love with the sport and will be better.

I don't think American football should be called football, because it's definitely a misnomer, but that being said, I use the word soccer on a daily basis, also the word soccer is English in origin, not American, this is why it's a common word for association football in Australia.

Cheapest season ticket was fucking 360$... and they raised it for 2018! Now it's gonna be 432$! But if you had a season ticket in 2017 you will be rewarded by a cheaper season ticket... 378$. Yes, you will pay 18$ more as a reward. Those prices are fucking outrageous. For example FC Basel which is a better club charges 200$ for a saison ticket, in a country where avg. wage is 5000$/month. For the same price you can get 2 saison tickets for Bayern Munchen...

It has taken off for a long time already at the youth level. It's more popular youth sport than ice hockey and baseball...its just pro wise, people dont want. yes its great the MLS is growing. But the only teams that can fill out a large stadium is Seattle and atlanta and LA, maybe a few other teams.....we need more teams..the MLS is actually only one spot behind the NHL (ice hockey) in the USA. But the difference is the NHL is considered a major sports league, while the MLS is not. They make millions more than the MLS, and pay their players millions more than the MLS. If Im correct, the MLS got a million viewers in the final, the Stanley cup finals though, had like 7-10 million viewers. The MLS is growing but it needs to grow faster if it wants to catch up to pro ice hockey, because the nhl is also gaining more and more viewers every year.

If you love the game it makes no sense to me why you would judge. Yes the US is a young football nation, it's the teenage years of exposure, its got the pimples, blemishes and cringe moments. That's growth and life in general. I really feel like the Europeans hate the most of popular culture is derived from the US and football is well and truly the only thing that hasn't got taken over, they hate to see the rise of the game in the US, which baffles me if you love the beautiful game.

United States is a sleeping giant.
They are doing it the right way. New teams, new stadiums, new academies and it's slowly but steadily growing.
Imagine in about 25 years where that country is in terms of football/soccer?
It is the fastest growing sport there and is played the most by the younger age groups in children now.
It is. The 5th sport there but it will one day be the biggest. That I'm sure about.
It's a baby at the minute. The league is less than 20 years old and the MLS is being built right and what's more on a sustainable and profitable footing unlike the 70s league or how the European leagues are at the minute.
The looming financial crash in Europe similar to Serie A in the early 00s is. Eventually going to happen as it isn't sustainable and the MLS might just be there to pick up the pieces.
    Bravo I say

skull gs that's because the football sucks. I live in Atlanta, and going to a game is way different from actually watching the game on TV. At the stadium the hype kind of takes you away from the game. It's an awesome experience. But for those of us who are used to the technical side of football, there's still a lot lacking. It is improving steadily though, and I feel as time goes on teams will have better structure and better talent

I think the reason Europeans dislike Americans adopting soccer is because America is a powerful country with lots of money and Europe feels like soccer is a cultural icon that defines and unites the continent. European football is something they feel is unique to their continent, and to see America adopt it is frustrating to them because they feel like we're stealing a part of their cultural identity, and trying to make a cheap copy something unique they've spent the past 200 years passionately building.
Now, I can theorize that why they attack American soccer so much more aggressively than leagues from any other non-European country is because America is full of money and powerful people, and if there's one country that could pretty accurately recreate a European football league, it would be America. The attacks on America are sort of a self-defense mechanism to preserve their unique cultural identity.
As an American, I don't think America will ever successfully recreate a carbon copy of a European soccer league, nor do I think it's trying to. Even within Europe, the leagues have extremely different cultures and atmospheres. The Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Calcio A and the Bundesliga are all extremely different yet peacefully coexist.
America is not trying to steal or even recreate this cultural element of Europe. America wants to create a league with quality players, quality atmospheres, quality entertainment and to do all of it in a way that will coexist with and not take anything away from the soccer empire Europe has built.
(p.s. stop shitting on us for having a different word for it, it's not really our fault. we didn't make the choice, our ancestors did. I think football makes more sense as a name, as do many other soccer fans over here, but it's not really in our power to change it)

i think europeans hate the structure of the MLS, it's completely alien to us and in our minds Anti-Football. The draft is stupid to us and only getting players fresh out of college seems like a waste to us Europeans. MLS 'clubs' are not clubs, they're franchises, which is stupid in a lot of our opinions. Yeah the Premier League is rich, but the teams in the league (and the lower leagues) have passionate and loyal fans, the MLS just doesn't have that, it seems like the only reason MLS was set up was to capitalise on the growing popularity of the sport in the states and get more money. There isn't even a relegation or promotion system, this eliminates all competition for those lower level teams, Why would a young player choose to play in MLS when greater oportunities are available elsewhere. In places like Europe and Brazil fans create epic shows of support, the intelligent chants of the English game and the masterful Tifos of other leagues, the MLS fans attempts are just cringy to us, they're almost too American. I think a lot of people dislike MLS because most americans completely disregard the sport as boring because it has low score lines and draws. Most Europeans love the growing popularity of the sport in the USA, they just dislike the way it feels like a business more than a sport.

    • @Penelope_The_Therian

We don't like our league either. Most American and MLS fans want four full divisions (MLS, NASL, USL1, USL2) with promotion and relegation. We eventually want to develop a thriving superleague with the FMF in Mexico and compete in Copa Libertadores.
But MLS owners don't want to wait for 50 years to build up a history and allow a team to go for a 5,000 seat stadium to a 50,000 or more seat stadium. They want to allow big markets like Atlanta to hit the ground running with 70k fans--50k of which are passionate, 90 minute, standing room only fans. It works incredibly in Atlanta because Atlanta is extremely culturally diverse. Like ridiculously so. And people are always looking for something to have pride in.

All sports in America are a business. It's the sad truth, as an outsider I'd like to see it grow and get better for Americans. They dominate most sports already it'd be fun to see them in a serious "soccer" setting. I do think the MLS needs work, but it'll get better it's just an infant child.

I'm Canadian and while I'm happy to see the game growing in NA, I hate how the whole thing is structured. I hate the north american approach to pro sports where clubs are commercial entities that are assured to always be part of the top league. Football clubs were always about growing and gaining a foothold inside a community. MLS should have relegation and accession etc. I hate the ''franchise'' and drafting approach.

agreed but i dont think theres enough support in the us and canada to keep multiple divisions going if mls is trying to work from the top down. i think we have to start small like everyone else and build up the infrastructure to have smaller regional leagues that will promote into the lower usl divisions
