Cool video - thanks for the mix. I think the hate toward the MLS is unfounded. I'm an Arsenal supporter, but every league has to start somewhere and the MLS is slowly, but surely growing. I say rock-on... the more people who can come to the world of football the better!
The problem is that Pele and Beckenbauer were playing for New York in the late 70s already. So football in america hasnt really evolved since then. They also didnt qualify for the world cup which is certainly not going to help for the popularity in the US. I just hope that soccer will finally become as big as it is supposed to be for the size of the country. The stadium is sick btw.

Michael Donelan Not to mention people ignore that those European leagues are now being criticized because teams with deep pockets like Bayern Munich, FCB, PSG, Man United, and Arsenal attempt to buy wins by spending amounts that would bankrupt the smaller clubs. Not to mention none of those teams have been relegated in the past 40-50 years.

I just wish they'd merge with ATL UTD and become their USL 2nd team. They have great youth training facilities at Spaghetti Junction and would be a great program.
I love how football has taken off in the US. It's the beautiful game and is the worlds most popular sport for a reason, pretty cool to see the US join the party in such a big way.
It has taken off for a long time already at the youth level. It's more popular youth sport than ice hockey and baseball...its just pro wise, people dont want. yes its great the MLS is growing. But the only teams that can fill out a large stadium is Seattle and atlanta and LA, maybe a few other teams.....we need more teams..the MLS is actually only one spot behind the NHL (ice hockey) in the USA. But the difference is the NHL is considered a major sports league, while the MLS is not. They make millions more than the MLS, and pay their players millions more than the MLS. If Im correct, the MLS got a million viewers in the final, the Stanley cup finals though, had like 7-10 million viewers. The MLS is growing but it needs to grow faster if it wants to catch up to pro ice hockey, because the nhl is also gaining more and more viewers every year.
For the Europeans. This is our 5th sport. It has been A league for twenty years. Give A chance To The runner. Soccer is so freaking old in Europe we will compare in over 100yead thx
As an soccer mad African visiting Atlanta for an exchange program I fell instantly with the team when I got a chance to experience this incredible moment at the Mercedes-Benz stadium last year. The love is still on.
Brilliant to see so much love for the beautiful game being embraced. I've been following Atlanta United loosely and it's great to see the fans are loving it
As an Englishman living in Atlanta, football really seems to be taking a hold of the City and has became a really big part of the people of Atlanta's lives.
Atlanta is the most mixed city on the East coast. Yes even better than NYC. Plus we are huge sports fans and have a huge soccer culture. Even our artist dabble in it. ATL United is here and we are loud.
Hypebeast 75 alright so first off believe it or not people play soccer here. There’s travel teams, school teams, rec teams, pro teams, amateur teams, etc etc. Atlanta has Atlanta United which is our largest club with an average attendance higher than Chelsea’s 😂. Then the silverbacks and blackhawks are just kinda there they have like 2k a game but they’re amateur clubs. You can’t generalize every person in America to hate soccer. We have 350 million people in the USA 6 million in atl and a fuck ton of love for the beautiful game ⚽️ so how about instead of attacking Americans for liking a sport, Love the sport as a whole instead!
This is the thing with fútbol in USA, a piece is made about an expansion team and there is no mention about having an ex Barcelona, ex Argentina head coach as their current head coach and no mention of their players, a minor reference about their style of playing which is completely different from most teams on the league, it’s all about the show, the spectacle, the culture, etc but NO FUTBOL
skull gs that's because the football sucks. I live in Atlanta, and going to a game is way different from actually watching the game on TV. At the stadium the hype kind of takes you away from the game. It's an awesome experience. But for those of us who are used to the technical side of football, there's still a lot lacking. It is improving steadily though, and I feel as time goes on teams will have better structure and better talent
This video’s focus is about the Fandom, the city and burgeoning culture surrounding the team. There’s plenty of other vids out there about the team itself and their soccer.
old trafford is ruined by a tourists really although the atmosphere is probably than any mls team due to lack of working claass history and fabricated identities and commercialism. attendance isn't always atmosphere as Fc United, dundalk, milwall and the icelandic nt prove that. . #WE'LL NEVER DIE
Bannlyst Man theoriginalanimeker Nobody gave that stadium to Atlanta LMAO. Arthur Blank the owner financed it with money from his company The Home Depot, and the stadiums sponsor Mercedes plus alot of money from the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia by way of various taxes and bonds. It was actually built primarily for the cities American (NFL) Football team the Falcons. ATL United weren't even in existence when they first started plans for the stadium.
Shubh Hindustani Its not called the Taj Mahal... They were just saying that because it is big and beautiful. It's actually called Mercedes-Benz Stadium, look it up.
United States is a sleeping giant. They are doing it the right way. New teams, new stadiums, new academies and it's slowly but steadily growing. Imagine in about 25 years where that country is in terms of football/soccer? It is the fastest growing sport there and is played the most by the younger age groups in children now. It is. The 5th sport there but it will one day be the biggest. That I'm sure about. It's a baby at the minute. The league is less than 20 years old and the MLS is being built right and what's more on a sustainable and profitable footing unlike the 70s league or how the European leagues are at the minute. The looming financial crash in Europe similar to Serie A in the early 00s is. Eventually going to happen as it isn't sustainable and the MLS might just be there to pick up the pieces. Bravo I say
yes its great the MLS is growing. But the only teams that can fill out a large stadium is Seattle and atlanta and LA, maybe a few other teams.....we need more teams..the MLS is actually only one spot behind the NHL (ice hockey) in the USA. I think the reason Europeans dislike Americans adopting soccer is because America is a powerful country with lots of money and Europe feels like soccer is a cultural icon that defines and unites the continent. European football is something they feel is unique to their continent, and to see America adopt it is frustrating to them because they feel like we're stealing a part of their cultural identity, and trying to make a cheap copy something unique they've spent the past 200 years passionately building. Now, I can theorize that why they attack American soccer so much more aggressively than leagues from any other non-European country is because America is full of money and powerful people, and if there's one country that could pretty accurately recreate a European football league, it would be America. The attacks on America are sort of a self-defense mechanism to preserve their unique cultural identity. As an American, I don't think America will ever successfully recreate a carbon copy of a European soccer league, nor do I think it's trying to. Even within Europe, the leagues have extremely different cultures and atmospheres. The Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Calcio A and the Bundesliga are all extremely different yet peacefully coexist. America is not trying to steal or even recreate this cultural element of Europe. America wants to create a league with quality players, quality atmospheres, quality entertainment and to do all of it in a way that will coexist with and not take anything away from the soccer empire Europe has built. (p.s. stop shitting on us for having a different word for it, it's not really our fault. we didn't make the choice, our ancestors did. I think football makes more sense as a name, as do many other soccer fans over here, but it's not really in our power to change it)
having fake teams with real or utd or sponsorship affects the whole of football especially clubs getting owners which don't care about the tradition of the club.
Hey idiot I didn't know Brazil, Colombia etc were in Europe, stupid point, it's because you don't know what you're doing and slate football all the time now you're trying to get on the bandwagon.
Never mind the fact that there is an already well established sport here in the US that goes by that name, FOOTBALL. Soccer works just fine. Good post! You were kind because many would see the hate as just blind envy for what they know we are capable of doing, as we have most any other sport.
Living in South Carolina Atlanta United feels like our own home team. I have quickly started to become a fan of Atlanta United. They play beautiful football and the atmoshpere there is incredible!! We are Atlanta United!!!
You hate on Americans for the growth of the game? Why? It's the beautiful game and you don't like to see Football evolving and expanding? If you love the game it makes no sense to me why you would judge. Yes the US is a young football nation, it's the teenage years of exposure, its got the pimples, blemishes and cringe moments. That's growth and life in general. I really feel like the Europeans hate the most of popular culture is derived from the US and football is well and truly the only thing that hasn't got taken over, they hate to see the rise of the game in the US, which baffles me if you love the beautiful game.
the identities are the clubs are the issue and by allowing this commercialism is going to ruin the atmosphere and authenticity of a game working class men would with their co workers
Nah, 71,000 people who support both sports. There are plenty of people in the USA who are American football haters, but most like multiple sports. Soo, maybe more like 5,000 ex-nfl fans.
I'm Canadian and while I'm happy to see the game growing in NA, I hate how the whole thing is structured. I hate the north american approach to pro sports where clubs are commercial entities that are assured to always be part of the top league. Football clubs were always about growing and gaining a foothold inside a community. MLS should have relegation and accession etc. I hate the ''franchise'' and drafting approach.
agreed but i dont think theres enough support in the us and canada to keep multiple divisions going if mls is trying to work from the top down. i think we have to start small like everyone else and build up the infrastructure to have smaller regional leagues that will promote into the lower usl divisions
Roque Atlanta is becoming a legit club in just its 2nd year. They could easily win the MLS this season. I like their chances to at least compete at a high level.
When is this channel gonna post about Toronto FC! Gone from worst to first in the league, awesome fanbase and have a chance at mls history this weekend, against Atlanta away!
Europeans bashed North Americans for not knowing football, and now they bash us for getting into it. I will not understand
Liam Deschamps fuck them! Go ATL!!!!!
because you' re not experiencing authentic clubs

Instead of talking about the “quality” of the league how about give them some credit for getting 71,000 fans.
I know! It's pretty sick! Would go to a match but 8000+ Km are not easy task haha
The "quality" isn't that bad either. I think Eurosnobs really underrate the level of play.
Think they do mate, not gonna lie I still don’t rate it highly but i also don’t rate English teams as highly as some people.
With the amount of money the USA spends on football and the size of their country it'd be embarrassing if they didn't achieve those numbers.
So you’re trying to say it’s less impressive because that country has a large population? The majority don’t like football over there as much, it’s not that popular, that’s why it’s impressive
Why all the hate? 71,000 people are packing out a stadium in America, for soccer! Why is that a bad thing? I say the more football/soccer fans around the world, the better! It should be a unifier not a divider.
Why it took so long for MLS to realize such potential in Atlanta?

All the comments are about people complaining about Europeans complaining but I don't see any Europeans complaining. At all. They stadium looks sexy tho. Oh and it's FOOTBALL. Not soccer
ahahahaha
Stfu it has two names people in different countries have different names for things. England it's called a lift in America it's a elevator
Gladiator Toast no brah its football. Dont change the word. We dont do it with american football or baseball aswell.
Mojom8 really everyone calls it handegg (which I don't find offensive). We just do it to prevent confusion
We have to say soccer in the US or else there will be confusion
Good Luck Atlanta FC
Respect From A Liverpool FC Fan 😎
Wonderful job capturing the essence of the rise of Atlanta United, Copa90! You guys rock! We love your videos!
Incoming all 7 triggered Atlanta Silverback fans
myboyblue 32 who?
I just wish they'd merge with ATL UTD and become their USL 2nd team. They have great youth training facilities at Spaghetti Junction and would be a great program.
myboyblue 32 hahaha only ppl from Atlanta will understand
i am triggered but i fuckin love both with my heart man, got em both in my being and my life ✌️✌️✌️✌️
Lmao
El _Dominador3 the prem was only formed in 1992
I meant football in general
Yeah from a 1st division that had been around for over a hundred years.. none of the teams in the prem started from scratch in 1992
Cause in MLS it’s totally new
El_Dominador3 my reply was for Oliver not you. I agree with you
Wow that stadium design. One of the most beautiful stadia in the world
Dreizehn Yea man you should see it in person if you haven’t. Gives you chills.
Thats my home town, much love from Atlanta💪
As an soccer mad African visiting Atlanta for an exchange program I fell instantly with the team when I got a chance to experience this incredible moment at the Mercedes-Benz stadium last year. The love is still on.
FINALLY THEY MADE ONE FOR MY HOMETOWN
Who made it? A corporation?
why can't we just both enjoy the beautiful game of football (soocer) instead of fighting which continent has it better
XO ForLife also instead of fighting over what it should or shouldn't be called either. The importance is that you love the game.
WoodyWoods428 yeah it's just a name.
I honestly don't why brits gets so insulted
(Im Colombian not American)
ATL UTD’s record-breaking crowd ranked #4 in world soccer this weekend
wooooohhhhhh!!!!71 000 fans is not a joke!!!!it's insane....soccer in U.S are growing well....
Genuinely looks amazing. Well done, Atlanta!

Rob Alcock i

WE BROKE THE RECORD AGAIN YESTERDAY 3/11/18!
A-T-L!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video, Atlanta has great soccer fans, and that new stadium looks great!!!
Not going to lie I actually got goosebumps looking at the stadium. Even before he said he gets goosebumps.
Never been so excited for a video before!
I love how everyone is like “Im an nfl fan I can’t be an mls fan.” Like WHY CANT YOU JUST LIKE BOTH?
So you don't "love how"
Respect from an nycfc fan.
Brilliant to see so much love for the beautiful game being embraced. I've been following Atlanta United loosely and it's great to see the fans are loving it
As an Englishman living in Atlanta, football really seems to be taking a hold of the City and has became a really big part of the people of Atlanta's lives.
We should not bash Americans now that they are getting into football let’s respect that
Atlanta is the most mixed city on the East coast. Yes even better than NYC. Plus we are huge sports fans and have a huge soccer culture. Even our artist dabble in it. ATL United is here and we are loud.
Julio Cesar shut yo bitch ass up
How do you have huge football culture? (Genuine question, mexicans?)
Hypebeast 75 We have had a team since the 70’s
So 'mixed' is good? Wtf means mixed. No identity.
Amazing football club you guys are creating in Atlanta! From Europe, we glad to see the sport growing in the US, and what a stadium! Enjoy it
the new record is now 72,000
I'd rather go to an ATL Utd game than a Man Utd game any day of the week, what an atmosphere
Aziz Fellague Ariouat then go to a Liga MX game
Dani Orta I would if I didn't live 13 hours away by plane lol
old trafford is ruined by a tourists really although the atmosphere is probably than any mls team due to lack of working claass history and fabricated identities and commercialism. attendance isn't always atmosphere as Fc United, dundalk, milwall and the icelandic nt prove that. . #WE'LL NEVER DIE
come with me to Dortmund game and you'll experience something else.
Dumb
Why is everyone hating LMAO
Dannyrobles04 it's blind hate
They're jealous that their shitty Buttfuckington United won't ever make it to the Premier League because the same 3 teams always win it.
Dannyrobles04 cause u call it socar. Its football
Meta Mojo bruh u Europeans getting mad over a name lmao 😂😂
Meta Mojo italians call football, calcio. Sooo i don’t understand why you give so much of a shit about the name of the spor
Better atmosphere than half of the premier league
Damn right. My city, my team, my people here turning up for the beautiful game. Forever.I.Love.Atlanta.
I love the way they do it in the ATL. Congrats, you guys are a big time addition to MLS , helping our leaque to grow stronger all the time.
Fuuucck I want ribs now
Amazing Crowd 😎
MLS... The league you love to hate, but that Stadium... fuck me! I could marry and have kids with that stadium, it's a thing of beauty
I'm pissed off they gave that stadium to Atlanta...LAFC's stadium betta be prettier!
Who gave it? The League? That very statement is why we look down on the MLS.
Bannlyst Man
theoriginalanimeker
Nobody gave that stadium to Atlanta LMAO.
Why hate MLS???! I dont get you....its a young League that is definately growing !!!....where do you see the issue for hate???
ATL❤️❤️So grateful I got to see almost every game at home. Honestly obsessed with the team
That little pitch from 0:13-0:15, 1:23-1:25, 3:59-4:02, 4:07-4:10 looks like it's in Harrison, NJ close to RB Arena
As an Indian i thank Atlanta United for naming their stadium over Taj Mahal
Shubh Hindustani Its not called the Taj Mahal... They were just saying that because it is big and beautiful. It's actually called Mercedes-Benz Stadium, look it up.
Nice to see football growing in USA
Im form Europe.
The whole south loves this team, just went to a game and there are people from all over and it is electric
ATL just went to home opener, shit was so lit.
Yea boi our stadium is fucking amazing and so is ATL
I hate when EuroSnobs hate on the MLS, it takes a lot of time for a league to grow.
its not a league its a commercial cash grab
www.dictionary.com/browse/league, look at the fourth definition on the page
Save The Crew
The only reason I watch the MLS is because of this team! Love Atlanta United!
This is amazing, Bravo Atlanta United. And the stadium is lit
Trinidad and Tobago...the franchise system is killing your football.
Hey idiot I didn't know Brazil, Colombia etc were in Europe, stupid point, it's because you don't know what you're doing and slate football all the time now you're trying to get on the bandwagon.
Vladimir Lenin. Their leagues have the same system of relegation and promotion...
Never mind the fact that there is an already well established sport here in the US that goes by that name, FOOTBALL. Soccer works just fine.
Good post! You were kind because many would see the hate as just blind envy for what they know we are capable of doing, as we have most any other sport.
this guy mentioned 21 savage and playboi carti but not gucci mane, t.i., or future?
Migos?
Fuck everyone except TI
leaving out outkast was the biggest crime here
RESPECT
Thank y'all so much!
Living in South Carolina Atlanta United feels like our own home team. I have quickly started to become a fan of Atlanta United. They play beautiful football and the atmoshpere there is incredible!! We are Atlanta United!!!
Who else from the South Side?!
71,000 ex-NFL fans ... !
I really love this video man... it’s says great things about this city, fans and team.. thank you
We are the A 👏👏👏👏
From way down south!!!
AND WE ARE HERE
Rowdy and Proud!!!
How will they fare against teams outside of the mls?
Roque
we always lose against liga mx teams we pure shit
Liga MX teams are also improving at a fast rate which is why MLS teams always lose, but I feel that Atlanta united has potential to beat some.
Yea they suck. Going to a game is hype with the crowd, but watching at home shows they aren't all that good.
Rolls Reus no they couldn’t beat low championship side let alone prem
Roque Atlanta is becoming a legit club in just its 2nd year. They could easily win the MLS this season. I like their chances to at least compete at a high level.
When is this channel gonna post about Toronto FC! Gone from worst to first in the league, awesome fanbase and have a chance at mls history this weekend, against Atlanta away!
Good luck in CCL this year!
Eric Bernard Woah Woah Woah, we all know ATL in The best team in the MLS. Let’s be real here
When I first saw an ATL game on TV, I thought it was a euro soccer match at first.
Amazing! Cheers from Brazil!
