Great video and commentary. Always a trip to see one of my favorite creators talking about the product I designed haha. To comment on the shipping times - #1 we should be just about caught up with the backorders we had, can see a good amount of happy people commenting here. #2 The issue is as you described - where it was much more demand than we had anticipated, but it also had to do with the backorders we had left open. Because the other method would have been to close orders after selling out, and then re-open them each time we got in a shipment, but then buying a Prompter would be like trying to buy a pair of sneakers trying to get the order in at the right time and could be a headache. So we've had more shipments between launch and now - but we just had a LOT of backorders of people who were able to simply put their order in and essentially wait till their number was called. Obviously the ideal scenario is we could just churn these puppies out but unfortunately that wasn't an option haha. For software - we are absolutely working on improving upon the V1 - gotta start somewhere - and I'm glad you're enjoying what we currently have On your note on the bracket - the bracket is a sort of catch-all - working with smaller mirrorless cameras, point and shoots, camcorders, smartphones and more. I've been looking into what an optional upgraded bracket could look like that focuses just on larger cameras - but there are a couple of design/build considerations that have to be taken into account. So no promises beyond that we're looking into this at least ha.
You can completely eliminate the glare by using a circular polarizing filter on your camera lens. I can run the display at 100% brightness as long as I use the filter (without the filter the glare at 100% brightness makes the prompter completely unusable)
Thanks for doing a followup review - not many people do this it seems, and I find it neat to see how you feel after the initial "honeymoon" phase wears off of a new shiny toy. 10/10
@@tombuck I think i'm gonna buy one next payday just because it appears to work as a potential useful screen without using up a graphics card monitor port? (i'm maxed out already haha), would be great for monitoring and talking with twitch chat!
Woke up this morning and looked at my phone. 59 minutes ago, Outlook: Elgato prompter is out for delivery 34 minutes ago, UA-cam, Tom Buck: Elgato Prompter Long-Term Review: It Really Is Fantastic Doesn’t get any better than that👌🏽
I love your entertaining reviews. I returned another prompter I had purchased, when I first saw this review, and waited for Elgato to get back into stock. I’m glad I waited and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Elgato has the best user interfaces and most thought-through products today.
Thanks Matt! I hope the Prompter works out for you! I never thought I'd have one as a permanent part of my setup, but it really has been that good (for me, at least).
Tom! First off, love your videos. I've watched so many of them. Second, thanks for covering this. I'm going to try it out whenever it's in stock. I currently have a custom setup with a monitor hooked up to my computer. This looks even simpler. I just wanted to echo your thoughts on tablet/phone based promoters vs a computer connected monitor solution. If you make lots of videos or use your prompter frequently, I can't tell you just how much more convenient and nice it is to use a teleprompter that's just a monitor connected to your computer. I HATE using tablet/phone based ones now. So annoying! Great video, thanks!
I never thought I'd have a prompter as a permanent part of my setup, but this one is just so seamless that I love it! Much better than any phone/table system I've used. Thanks for the kind words! 🙏
Yep, it's wonderful! As long as you have a computer to connect it to, it's absolutely the way to go. I know that's not always possible, but I personally never want to deal with a tablet-based prompter again haha

A spork is neither a great spoon or a fork, but you can eat with some frustration. I've been using a small phone-type prompter (parrot) for 4 years, and it dramatically sped up my process and made my videos much more professional. I've been mostly in the field, but am in the middle of building a studio, so I've been eying this. Just got my Elgato Prompter last week and it's transformed my Zoom calls and video recordings-eye contact feels natural, and it's streamlined my script process, no more hassle with tablets or phones. Your thorough review above is what convinced me to buy. The Elgato Prompter truly is a game-changer. Thanks so much, Tom!
This makes me so happy to hear! Really glad you're enjoying it. I just filmed a video with the Prompter this morning and it's truly wild how much it's streamlined the whole process.
I'm not sure if it was released yet, but we've got a software update coming out soon that will add a "red dot" target style overlay on your prompter screen to help have a spot to focus on. 👍
Thanks Tom, I purchased one of these in the UK and have to say, at this price point it is stupendosly good. Like you, I have used other 'low cost' prompters and, in my experience, they just don't deliver in the way that this one does. Why? Well, for all the reasons that you point out. Of course, with some of the others, it's perfectly possible to get similar display functionality, but by the time you've also purchased a decent display, used one of your moniotor ports, purchased the required splitters and switchers, plus the software to run with it - the solution is no longer 'low cost' and significantly more clunky and less portable / demountable. Thanks for the steer provided by your original review video; so, so glad I went with your recommendation! Cheers!
Super detailed insight, much appreciated! I absolutely love my Prompter and yes, I can confirm that my Prompter arrival was weeks ahead what Elgato order was saying. So get your place in line folks, Elgato is shipping a lot of these quicker than you think!
I always love your content, Tom! I just got my Prompter and I have to admit-- the glare at 100% screen brightness was pretty bad. (...and the black pro mist filter on my lens probably didn't do me any favors!) I looked around for a solution and wanted to share here that attaching a circular polarizer to my lens, and dialing in the right angle, eliminated the glare so well that I can now have the screen brightness at 100% white and it doesn't pollute the image. The only drawback is, because the screen is so bright (which is honestly a great feature), at 100% brightness it will turn the prompter into a light source. I'm looking forward to using this Prompter with Stream Deck and seeing how much it streamlines things for me. Thank you, Tom!
Timelines - I got on the waitlist when your original video dropped. The instant the email popped it was available for order, I was on it in seconds. The prompter is arriving today (drop day of this video). As always, thanks for the awesome content, Tom.
I am FINALLY receiving mine tomorrow after waiting a long time due to back-order. Can’t wait to get it! I actually ordered a second one this AM for my 2nd set up after seeing your 100 day follow up.
Hopefully you like them! My wife and I were passing mine back and forth between our offices for a while, but she ended up liking it enough to just order a second one. 😁
Stoked to have mine delivered on Monday! I've had some experience using an iPad dependent teleprompter, and holy moley, finding something that can handle the shear weight of that thing was an adventure. Being able to just plop this thing onto a camera arm on my desk will be an absolute game-changer.
I love the long-term review! I want to get this for zoom calls and possibly scripting videos... although most of my stuff is vlogs. I need to watch this again with a pun counter handy! Thanks for all you do!
Great video!!! I completely agree with the price so worth it! I waited 2 months and almost cancelled, so glad I didn't. The prompter has definitely changed the way I create videos-all for the better. I control mine with a stream deck. Somehow Elgato has taken over my studio with their innovative tools. Keep them coming!
I ran into a STRANGE problem with Elgato Prompter. When you hang it off your lens (as you showed in the video), then my Canon lenses made this weird vibrating sound like something was grinding, as it is autofocusing. Apparently many lenses physically extend or shrink during autofocus! (Learned something new.) To avoid this, I had to use that plastic platform to attach my Canon EOS R10 onto the back, and then mount the Elgato Prompter directly onto the tripod. Kind of annoying set up.... as I liked the idea of simply hooking Elgato Prompter directly onto the lens. Easy on and off as you mentioned. Anyway.... I just wanted to point this out for other people, as I didn't see anyone talking about this. BTW I did try with multiple different lenses, and it's the same issue. (Maybe because Tom's lenses are a different style or expensive enough they don't have this issue? Maybe it's Sony vs Canon lenses?) Overall... I AM still using it... but I feel like my tripod / mounting situation.... is a little complicated and delicate. And as a result I plan to just leave this camera kinda PERMANENTLY planted in this spot, attached to the prompter... and use a different camera to move around the room capturing different shots.
Yes! There are different styles of lenses and not all will work with the prompter (or other filters) mounted to the front. I did make a video about connecting different cameras to the prompter where I cover this, but it probably is something that would've been worth including here too. What I'd really love is some sort of super sturdy camera platform accessory, whether from Elgato or a 3rd party that can support a heaver camera but still keep everything on one tripod/stand.
@@tombuck Thanks for the reply! Well I went to watch your "Use The Elgato Prompter With Any Camera" video but still I didn't see a mention of this particular problem I am describing... where the lens makes a weird grinding sound, somehow due to the lens physical shrinking/expanding due to autofocus (that's my leading theory for the noise at any rate!). So anyhow I just can't hang it off my cropped frame Canon camera with the lenses I tried.
Got mine a few weeks before it was projected to arrive. Absolutely wonderful. I had issues (on my Mac) understanding and getting used to the software for the display, which I found confusing. I got the whole package with Elgato camera and the picture quality is amazing. Glad I didn’t have to dedicate my DSLR. Your presentation is so clear and well paced. Subscribed with pleasure.
I've only had a day to work with this prompter and while it's a good piece of hardware and comes in at a great pricepoint, setup wasn't a snap. there's this weird issue that comes up where i have to reset the privacy and security on the camera hub app or restart it in order to work altogether. Also the teleprompter feature in camera hub just isn't as great as other teleprompter apps i've used on my ipad. but all in all, i'm definitely going to keep it because these are all little issues i can work around. Great video as always!
Well done, Tom! Your update thoughts are very useful. My Prompter is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow - 02092024. This is approximately 2 weeks earlier than the ETA provided at order time. A 6 weeks lead time is apparently turning into 4 weeks. Gotta like it.
I just got mine, took about two weeks. I downloaded the app cause it wasn’t working right then boom my life is instantly changed. This thing is ridiculous and I haven’t even used it yet. Thanks for showing me the way.
Very useful info here! I'm leaving this here because I know the Elgato product team is reading your comments! lol... It would be amazing if Elgato added USB hub to the prompter. Then you could plug your camera (or a Camlink) directly into the prompter and transmit the camera signal through the same USB-C cable that powers the prompter display. Tom's studio setup wouldn't benefit, but for a typical streaming setup (like Elgato shows in their marketing materials) it would be ideal to run a single USB-C cable from the prompter to computer instead of 2 -- and that frees up a USB-C port on your laptop for an Elgato Stream Deck or microphone to promote more use of the Elgato ecosystem!
I got mine in December. I'm in and out of video calls all day and personally I struggle a bit with the screen size. Big fan of it otherwise, but hoping for a Prompter XL sometime soon.
The Prompter comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. I’m on a Mac (MBP with an M1 chip), so I didn’t have a USB-A connector. I tried various adapters, but nothing worked. Eventually I found my own USB-C to USB-C cable, and everything came up right away. I really think Elgato ought to ship that cable if you say you’re on a Mac, or maybe ship both if necessary.
@@tombuck FYI, I went back and forth with Elgato support about it, and it took a week to realize I needed to supply my own cable. I was very close to giving up and sending it back. I'm glad I didn't have to do that
Kenneth, I'm also on a Mac. Do you happen to have the link of the cable you purchased? I wasn't sure if any USB-C to USB-C would work since Tom mentioned it has to have a certain amount of power? Thank you!
I really appreciate this! Extra support like that always means a lot to me, but please don't feel obligated! I'm happy you're enjoying the videos, and that's really all I could ever ask for 🙏
Shipping times have improved, Tom. I'm in Australia and mine arrived within 24 hours of ordering on AMAZON, August 2024. Now to get the time to try it out.
Thanks for the long-term review! I wholeheartedly agree with you, the prompter is the best of it's class that's out there, and the fact that it's as inexpensive as it is really is remarkable.. I wish they made a bigger one, after waiting months for delivery I had to return mine because it was too small for me to be able to read it. By the time I made the font large enough to read, it couldn't fit much on the screen and I couldn't scroll fast enough to read realtime. But for what it is, it's fantastic.
@@smallbizdigitalmedia I'm at 50mm and am about 10ft away. I'm also nearsighted, so that doesn't help. I can read it with my iPad so just a little bit bigger would be perfect for me. Would love to see a Prompter XL or something.
It'll be interesting to see if they release something like a "Prompter Pro" that's a bit bigger for larger studio environments. I'm bummed that it didn't work out for you, but appreciate that you can still think it's good for what it sets out to do.
Agree on the faster than advertised shipping speeds. I purchased in early January and was given a mid to late March delivery estimate and my prompter arrived a few days ago. 🎉. I agree with your overall review (after 3 days of use). Great help in streamlining workflow. 👍
Great video Tom! I would love to see a video about your wife's setup (1:58). I've got a similar setup (minus the Prompter). I would like to have the option of looking at people during a Zoom call or being able to display my monitor on the prompter. This would let me tell people on the call about what I am sharing on my screen without looking away from the camera. This would be a great way to do this.
She did a video on it for a different channel: ua-cam.com/video/0uYXvgdZESc/v-deo.htmlsi=CDfbUSsXQ3DPzZUG This was before she had the Prompter, but that's the only thing that's changed.
Ironically mine arrived this afternoon. The original estimate was March, then mid February, then on Feb 2nd I got the shipping notice. So something must have kicked into gear. Haven't pulled it out of the box yet so this video told what I should be aware of as I set it up. Thanks for this!
Thanks Tom. Very helpful video, as usual. Had my Prompter for two months now and really appreciate it. Minor point: When it's right at eye level, my progressive lens glasses forced me to tilt my head upwards slightly to keep the text in sharp focus. That made me look a little arrogant, in my HUMBLE opinion! 😊 So I got new "workstation" eye glasses that fixed the problem. BTW, which mic was hot for this video? The blue podmic seemed too far away for the very nice tonal quality.
You hit the nail on the head with the jankeyness in other products software. To adjust scrolling speed on the Parrot's inverted slider on iPhone's screen is a major PITA. On shipping: I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and already got Elgato's shipping notice on Monday of this week. This is worlds better than the 8 months it took for me to receive my Parrot pro. The Parrot pro is much better than their last gen btw but we'll see how it compares once I get my Elgato Prompter. I have inadvertently become a collector of prompters 🙃
For anyone looking to get one and wondering what shipping is like- I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, and it came in today. Came from California. To New Jersey. Not bad.
As someone who, like Tom, has used prompters professionally for years...this is a steal of a product! With some tweaks to the software, like Tom mentioned, it will be an unbeatable product in the coming years. Dear Elgato: if you want to make this product as accessible as possible, find a way to integrate voice tracking into the software. That would fit so well into the workflow for content creators to make this a must buy!
I so agree with you about the price. People complain about the price but I think it is a steal! Since I already had a small teleprompter and a field monitor I stuck with that set up. But all in, it was actually a little more than the Prompter would have cost. The big disadvantage that I have with it is, no software included but I do like that I don't have to attach mine to the front of the lens. Maybe it's ok but it would stress me out. The only reason I would say don't get one is if you can't wait for it to be shipped or if you already have something similar.
Der Prompter ist großartig, und ich nutze ihn selbst! Ich habe viele tolle Feedbacks bekommen, weil ich den Menschen direkt in die Augen schauen kann. Das macht enorm viel aus und kann ich jedem empfehlen.
I suppose a magic arm attached to the tripod column then threaded to the prompter would be way better than having and risking to hang it out from the lens.
Thanks for the review. I am debating getting it for my desk setup but i have (comes Friday) smaller more portable teleprompter for on location/not around a computer setup!
I got one of the early ones and I agree with everything you say Tom. My only other critique is that I wish the angle between the monitor and glass was slightly movable, as depending on what angle you mount your camera, it doesn't always fill the screen. Also, I have the Glidegear with the iPad mount and the device is fine, not good but fine. But as Tom says the software situation is beyond painful. Most of it is garbage and based on a subscription payment, which is ridiculous. I spent a year, trying to get something that just worked... and every solution was bad, at best. The Prompter software, works really well and easily.
As I mentioned in the earlier video, my similar setup uses a larger teleprompter with one of those flat 15" monitors. It preforms all the functionality the Elgato minus their prompter software. Larger prompter plus the monitor was less than theirs. Im not against Elgato I just think they overprice their equipment. The one product I haven't been able to find a good equivalent for is the Streamdeck. There are other products namely phone/tablet apps but they just aren't as elegant in use.
Tom you're killing me with these prompter videos lol! I could use one of these so badly but 100 days in and they're still completely out of stock everywhere and impossible to get your hands on. Why Elgato "launched" this last year with no stock and seemingly no ability to produce them at scale is beyond me. If they were some small start up who'd never launched a product I'd understand.
Elgato has a winner Prompter product and well worth the cost, especially with the benefits of the latest version update software which allows switching scripts. Yes, using a phone or tablet is cumbersome, as you need to hook it up all the time and import the text to a phone app. The Elgator prompter can be setup as an extended screen from your computer with lots more flexibility. However.... The only other method that comes close is buying a 10 inch hdmi thin monitor off Amazon (with USB power) as a screen extension to my laptop by hdmi, and setting it up in the tray of a 12 inch Neewer Teleprompter, then getting a free prompter software that works on Mac or Windows OS. This I have done and it works fine, however Elgato looks simpler to use and less time to setup and has nice software in its latest update. The difference in price in my method, and Elgato is about the same total price, when you add Neewer 12 in. prompter hardware and 10 inch thin HDMI monitor. (or get a 16 inch Prompter and 12 hdmi thin monitor for the tray on Amazon). Elgato setup is nice and easy to use though I have to admit and simplicity, functionality and convenience may win out.
The prompter shipping delay might different from locations, i ordered mine back on the 4th of February and recieved it on the 6th of February via UPS, My main issue which im having with the prompter is the arm mounting and stability, i ordered the Wave Mic LP, and im hoping that fixes the issue, but other than that, the screen might be a bit smaller but it does the job so im happy.
OMG, you can scroll the script upward! Was this during the update? Also, nice review and I'm glad your wife likes it too. I'm so gonna get that prompter. It's been struggling for me to look down at my documents and then trying to look back up at the camera.
great vid, but I agree that DSLR shooter had a great alternative if you like DIY. If you take your camera out for B roll, its no difference to take the monitor out also to use it separately... but I completely see the use case for this particular one, brilliant gear!
Sadly, for me. I'm not ordering and paying for such a long delivery time. Still want on though. It seems the answer to a lot of problems at a "reasonable" price.
I was just checking UA-cam to see if there were any longer-term reviews and you had just posted this hours before. Crazy. I'm planning on buying this and using it with my Logitech StreamCam, but my desk is pretty wide (deep?) and my monitor usually hangs out around mid-desk. If I buy this with the taller stand and attach it to the back of the desk, the camera is going to be too far back. Is there a more adjustable stand I could buy that would allow me to attach it to the back of the desk but pull it forward to the right position (something similar to a good microphone arm)? Thanks for the awesome review. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Really great stuff!
I tried playing around with the GearTree, but didn’t personally like it too much. It might work for you though! Some people have used the Elgato low profile arm for this, but I feel like it’s not quite strong enough.
It's crazy! Even just using an outline it's made talking head takes that would normally be 45-60+ minutes of raw footage drop down to like 25 minutes. Even the footage for this video, since I couldn't use the prompter, was soooo long. And not for any really reason other than I had a hard time staying on track and/or couldn't remember some specifics that needed to be said in a certain order.
Thank you for mentioning all of this, especially the platform. I've wanted to replace an older teleprompter and wondered if this would be a good replacement. The one I have doesn't have a built in monitor and requires I use my iPad as a second monitor, which has been very tricky and buggy and just plain unreliable. I'm no longer a fan of wireless monitors while using a prompter. Also, the teleprompter apps I've tried are very clunky. I think I'll wait until Elgato comes out with a better platform that can support a full frame cine camera.
i understand this might be a better option than those prompters tying you to use an iphone/ipad (because it is inconvinient to use them)...but to me, tying a computer in each time is far more inconvnient than placing my iphone/ipad for the script. but understand your point, this prompter is intended for home studio use and not offiste or run-and-gun type of shoots. Maybe there exists a world where both can be used: use this for the home and use my old clunky one that ties my phone to it when i am not home. thanks for this!
That's kind of my plan. The new Parrot Pro got delivered yesterday (I backed the Kickstarter last spring) and I kind of don't know what to do with it now...but using it for "on location" projects might be perfect.
I had to plug my USB into an extension cord to reach the external computer from my recording booth. No issues that I’ve noticed. Didn’t really have a choice, so I’m happy it works…lol
Depending on which 50mm you're using, it could have a front focus element (the front of the lens moves to focus). If that's the case you won't be able to mount the prompter directly on the lens.
@tombuck Thanks so much Tom that could be the issue so which lenses do you recommend that could allow me mounting the prompter directly while keeping it in focus
@@tombuck Thank you so much for the reply.Your channel colors (love them luts) are a view-tiful sight. I'm absolutely screen-struck; it's 'streamly impressive. Yes, that was my punny AI talking. Thank you @tomebuck!
Can you have it so you have a script on the teleprompter scrolling and then the same script scrolling on a monitor? So you can more naturally move your head from teleprompter to monitor and still be able to follow a script?
If elgato software is not recognizing stream deck or pedal or whatever, after you start your pc, if you're on windows of course, close it and run it as administrator. Don't try to configure it to launch as admin with the PC start cause Windows won't allow it, security measures.

Does it require an integrated graphics card to operate/display?
great work. I got my first in December and after an hour I went online and ordered another 6.
@@mattconstance2196 This uses DisplayLink - it doesn't really care about what kind of graphics card your computer has
Software-wise, can you add auto-scrolling according to how I am reading?

That's brilliant! I never would've thought of it. I'm super excited to see where the software goes from here.
It's definitely worth holding a place in line! The time is going to pass either way, so you might as well get something at the end of it. 🤷🏻♂️
Great review Tom, got mine this Monday and it is amazing! Thanks for the video!
Great to hear!
Another think that is forking fantastic is this video being Nr. 500…. Congrats Tom… really. I can only wish you tones of fun for the next 500…
Thank you! I had no idea this was #500 when I mad it, but that's exciting!
I always love your content, Tom! I just got my Prompter and I have to admit-- the glare at 100% screen brightness was pretty bad. (...and the black pro mist filter on my lens probably didn't do me any favors!)
I looked around for a solution and wanted to share here that attaching a circular polarizer to my lens, and dialing in the right angle, eliminated the glare so well that I can now have the screen brightness at 100% white and it doesn't pollute the image. The only drawback is, because the screen is so bright (which is honestly a great feature), at 100% brightness it will turn the prompter into a light source.
I'm looking forward to using this Prompter with Stream Deck and seeing how much it streamlines things for me. Thank you, Tom!
Brilliant solution! Thanks for sharing!
Mine arrived this week and I can't wait to get stuck into using it! Thanks for this video, it's very helpful to hear your experience with it.
It's really fun! I hope you enjoy yours.
Timelines - I got on the waitlist when your original video dropped. The instant the email popped it was available for order, I was on it in seconds. The prompter is arriving today (drop day of this video). As always, thanks for the awesome content, Tom.
Hey good timing! Hope you enjoy it!
Buck Blue should be a colour that Rode offers
Agreed 100%
Stoked to have mine delivered on Monday! I've had some experience using an iPad dependent teleprompter, and holy moley, finding something that can handle the shear weight of that thing was an adventure. Being able to just plop this thing onto a camera arm on my desk will be an absolute game-changer.
I love the long-term review! I want to get this for zoom calls and possibly scripting videos... although most of my stuff is vlogs. I need to watch this again with a pun counter handy! Thanks for all you do!
Haha, thanks for al the kind words! Good luck with the counting! 😁
Hi! Are you still using the prompter? Thanks!
I use it constantly! Once of the best tools in my setup for sure.
@@tombuck thanks for getting back to me.
Wow! Bro, your lighting is PERFECT! This picture quality is amazing! Very impressive. : )
Wow, thank you! I think I saw this right as you posted it and it totally made my day 🙏
You showed me exactly what I needed to see. I wanted a confidence monitor with the script on top of it. I am going to order it right now
This is so far the only prompter I've seen that can do that! It's pretty nifty.
My Prompter is literally out for delivery right now. Very much appreciate this and your previous video. Can't wait to start using it. Thanks, Tom!
I just got mine, took about two weeks. I downloaded the app cause it wasn’t working right then boom my life is instantly changed. This thing is ridiculous and I haven’t even used it yet. Thanks for showing me the way.
Dude, I didn't know I wanted or needed this...now I'm buying one. Thanks!
Haha, I hope that's a good thing! It really has been a game changer for me.
The spoiler is the podmic windscreen in blue color!! I love it!
Keep an eye out 👀
Very useful info here!
Awesome spoon comparison. I like the elgato teleprompter. Thanks for this video 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
@@tombuck ✌️
The Prompter comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. I’m on a Mac (MBP with an M1 chip), so I didn’t have a USB-A connector. I tried various adapters, but nothing worked. Eventually I found my own USB-C to USB-C cable, and everything came up right away. I really think Elgato ought to ship that cable if you say you’re on a Mac, or maybe ship both if necessary.
Agreed 100%
@@tombuck FYI, I went back and forth with Elgato support about it, and it took a week to realize I needed to supply my own cable. I was very close to giving up and sending it back. I'm glad I didn't have to do that
Kenneth, I'm also on a Mac. Do you happen to have the link of the cable you purchased? I wasn't sure if any USB-C to USB-C would work since Tom mentioned it has to have a certain amount of power? Thank you!
@@TedMattos No special brand. I just grabbed one I had from a phone charger and plugged it in and it worked. :) Good luck!
Wow! You just uploaded this video the day my prompter was delivered! Great timing 😂
Woo hoo! Hope you have fu with it!
I Just Love Your Presentation Tom, One Day i Will Join Your Patrons, God Bless You
I really appreciate this! Extra support like that always means a lot to me, but please don't feel obligated! I'm happy you're enjoying the videos, and that's really all I could ever ask for 🙏
I'm glad that when I finally decided I wanted to use a teleprompter for livestreaming, this was coming out. Perfect timing!
LOVE that you showed the prompter on a Canon XL1s 😂
That will forever be my all-time favorite camera body.
Old meets new 😁
You had me spit out my coffee when you said "forking problems"! That was hilarious. lol.
"you now what i mean" 😁
Took me straight to "The Good Place"
Shipping times have improved, Tom. I'm in Australia and mine arrived within 24 hours of ordering on AMAZON, August 2024. Now to get the time to try it out.
It seems like they've finally caught up! I saw that it's now available on Amazon too, which I think is a good sign that there's plenty of stock.
What lens were you using and how far away were you?
@@smallbizdigitalmedia I'm at 50mm and am about 10ft away. I'm also nearsighted, so that doesn't help. I can read it with my iPad so just a little bit bigger would be perfect for me. Would love to see a Prompter XL or something.
It'll be interesting to see if they release something like a "Prompter Pro" that's a bit bigger for larger studio environments. I'm bummed that it didn't work out for you, but appreciate that you can still think it's good for what it sets out to do.
Thanks for this.
Hey Tom! Mine just arrived this week and I absolutely LOVE it! It's just an incredible piece of tech 💯
Super glad that it's working out for you!
Just got mine yesterday! Like you, it arrived a few week before it was supposed to & I can't wait to use it.
Hope you enjoy it!
So many insights in one video. Thank you for the really well made long term review.
Happy it was helpful!
Just ordered mine! Excited to see how it upgrades my workflow and efficiency! Thanks for your content.
Hope you enjoy it! And that it gets shipped out quickly.
Wow. Love the content, but your use of color is amazing.
Wow thank you! I try to make it fun without being too overly distracting 😁
Agree on the faster than advertised shipping speeds. I purchased in early January and was given a mid to late March delivery estimate and my prompter arrived a few days ago. 🎉. I agree with your overall review (after 3 days of use). Great help in streamlining workflow. 👍
Today I unboxed mine…. I immediately saw the potential and what you can achieve with it
Great video Tom!
She did a video on it for a different channel: ua-cam.com/video/0uYXvgdZESc/v-deo.htmlsi=CDfbUSsXQ3DPzZUG
This was before she had the Prompter, but that's the only thing that's changed.
That is perfect. Thank you! I wasn't aware of that channel. I've already watched a few other videos on it.
Great review. You’re amazing. Love your videos ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
So helpful, thanks. I’m self employed with a home office studio needing to do a few VODs for clients, etc. This looks ‘good to go’.
Ironically mine arrived this afternoon. The original estimate was March, then mid February, then on Feb 2nd I got the shipping notice. So something must have kicked into gear. Haven't pulled it out of the box yet so this video told what I should be aware of as I set it up. Thanks for this!
I told them I was publishing this video, so they'd better get them all delivered 💪
(Not really though- it's just a cool coincidence 😁 )
Not bad.
Seems like they're getting a handle on things now. B&H has it listed in stock for immediate shipping 👍
@@Rootkitdev I ordered mine from Amazon and it arrived the next day (and I live in the boonies of Maine).
Great video. A lot of good insight is provided very clearly. I love your studio, lots of colors. Thanks
Great forking video! The Prompter has been a great addition to my setup! Video calls are much better and more immersive.
Yes! They're awesome now.
Voice tracking would definitely be cool!
I love the look of mine, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with macOS Sonoma..!
I’ve been using mine with Sonoma on my Mini and MacBook. I don’t know what the issue is, but I do know that it is compatible.
Do think it’s should work with PromptSmart which has VoiceTrack (would automatically scrolls with your spoken word)?
I suppose a magic arm attached to the tripod column then threaded to the prompter would be way better than having and risking to hang it out from the lens.
Thanks for the review. I am debating getting it for my desk setup but i have (comes Friday) smaller more portable teleprompter for on location/not around a computer setup!
Thanks Tom, going to pick one up at that price point hard not to
It really is! I'm shocked by people criticizing it as too expensive.
Re: Shipping times: I ordered Jan. 14 and my prompter shipped this week. Seems like supply is starting to catch up to demand. Fork yeah!
That’s not too forkin’ bad!
I agree, it really is fantastic. I have some points to add, but I'll put those in my video :-)
Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Looks like an awesome piece of gear! Might have to pick it up someday!
It's been a total game changer for me!
So am I understanding, does it reverse (mirror) every thing you drag to it? For example a keynote or power point?
Nope, everything looks normal in the display when you look at it 👍
Very useful review. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
The prompter shipping delay might different from locations, i ordered mine back on the 4th of February and recieved it on the 6th of February via UPS,
My main issue which im having with the prompter is the arm mounting and stability, i ordered the Wave Mic LP, and im hoping that fixes the issue, but other than that, the screen might be a bit smaller but it does the job so im happy.
OMG, you can scroll the script upward! Was this during the update?
Also, nice review and I'm glad your wife likes it too.
I'm so gonna get that prompter.
It's been struggling for me to look down at my documents and then trying to look back up at the camera.
Hi there, trying to use my prompter for zoom but can’t drag anything onto the prompter as as an extended screen. How can I fix this ?
great vid, but I agree that DSLR shooter had a great alternative if you like DIY. If you take your camera out for B roll, its no difference to take the monitor out also to use it separately... but I completely see the use case for this particular one, brilliant gear!
Can you mount the prompter on an ordinary camera tripod
Yes, it has two 1/4 20 mounts on the bottom 👍
My prompter is due to deliver today 2/8/24…ordered 1/11/24!!!
Sadly, for me. I'm not ordering and paying for such a long delivery time. Still want on though. It seems the answer to a lot of problems at a "reasonable" price.
Hopefully its worth the wait..the orginal delivery was 2/20-2/24 delivering earlier 2/8@@tomwatson283
I'm a heavy scripter - I feel like this would save me so much time by lessening the number of bad takes 😅 On the wishlist it goes.
@@tombuck Haha I believe it! Typically my unedited talking head track is 3x as long as my edited version and I'd love to get that down to 2x.
How timely, mine was delivered today. Ordered January 11th with an original ETA of February 11-19th.
That's not too bad of a wait! It's wild how many people seem to have had theirs delivered today. Perfect timing! 😁
I'm actually really glad to know it works with an extension! I thought it wouldn't for some reason.
Thanks for the video Tom,put the prompter on my 50mm lens on the a7siii and it lost focus straight away
Where can I plug it in? I have a MBP M3, with 3 USB- C ports, used for: ATEM Mini, MOTU M2, and a OWC Thunderbolt 3 doc. I need another port!
Your OWC doc will likely support it since it's one of the beefier ones.
@@tombuck Thank you so much for the reply.Your channel colors (love them luts) are a view-tiful sight. I'm absolutely screen-struck; it's 'streamly impressive. Yes, that was my punny AI talking. Thank you @tomebuck!
Can you use this with a webcam rather than camera like the logitech brio? Great vid thanks
Can you have it so you have a script on the teleprompter scrolling and then the same script scrolling on a monitor? So you can more naturally move your head from teleprompter to monitor and still be able to follow a script?
Can you use a DJI Osmo pocket 3 in it?
Yes, but it's a little tricky. I recently made a video specifically about it: ua-cam.com/video/tuu70T3-FlY/v-deo.html
I've notice the cable is 2m long. What are the characteristics of this premium cable if one wants to buy a longer one?
If elgato software is not recognizing stream deck or pedal or whatever, after you start your pc, if you're on windows of course, close it and run it as administrator. Don't try to configure it to launch as admin with the PC start cause Windows won't allow it, security measures.
