    I think Miss Daisy is my favorite of all your dolls! And her hair! If only mine would turn that beautiful silver as I get older! I think she has my favorite personality too!

    Hey little Gretchen. I have begun my first dollhouse from scratch( cardboard and wood). Since I have become a fan of yours I knew it ws time to start the story of the house and who lives there. An older couple living in or about the 1930's. Thank you wonderful lady for helping set this old lady's (me) mind and creativity free.

    Hello, thank you for the tutorial and showing how your skills have progressed over the years, I really enjoy your teaching style, it gives me a confidence boost that I could make a doll too, I wasn't going to have dolls in my dolls house because I don't like the mass produced ones, they all seem to have a frightened look on their faces 😬 I think your tutorials have changed my mind 😊 your Grandmother doll is wonderful 🤩 and my hair is the same colour👩🏻‍🦳 lol ( premature greying started when I was 22) I'm also a Nana to 10 wonderful grandbabies age 1-17

That's why i encourage you Dolls to keep your early attempts so you can see your progress! I totally understand about mass produced dolls. They do looked afraid, sad, angry or just blank! I that always bothered me because I wanted HAPPY DOLLS! Also, years ago they didn't make any dolls that LOOKED like ME, so that's what started my journey to create My own DOLLS. Yes when you create your own, you feel differently about Dolls, they are Like your Children! LOL! WOW! 10 grand children what a BLESSING! I have 2 grandsons and they are such a JOY to my heart! I thought the white hair was perfect for this doll and the crazy part is the more I worked on her the more she started looking like my MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER! It's Crazy! Thank you for this video! I’ve been thinking about making the whole doll since you taught us how to make the heads. Unfortunately I bought a large box of gauze because I saw you use it. The unfortunate part being it is plaster cast gauze! So the dolls wouldn’t be moving much. LOL! Now I know to order the soft elastic gauze and in a narrow width. I love how this granny doll turned out with her beautiful white hair. My only complaint is you work so fast and I don’t know how to slow the video down. 🤭Once again, great video Gretchen!

      Oh No Candace I'm so sorry! I speed thru some parts because I think it's going to be too boring to watch in real time! 😔 I have another Doll I need to make. When I do that video I won't speed it up. Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for watching. If you have any questions feel free to email me ☺️❤️

    This is a spectacular tutorial, concise, clear, and you have a wonderful speaking voice. Thank you for sharing your creative gift. Can you provide the measurement for the length of wire you used for the arms and legs?

    • @littlegretchensworkshop7665
      @littlegretchensworkshop7665  5 місяців тому

      Thank you so much for saying so Sandy I'm really glad my voice and instructions are clear! My measur ements are not so concise. True 12th scale would be approximately 5 1/2 to 6 inches. But to me that makes arms and legs short and awkward. But I'm not a purest when it comes to 12th scale. So 7 to 7 and 1/2 in for the wire that goes all the way through for the arms.( I like my dolls arms a bit longer especially the MEN) so they can bend fully to carry things and hug the family!) 🤭😊💖 I hope this helps!

    Little Gretchen: Thank you for showing us how you made your dolls. I am in the process of trying to figure out what I want to do as far as miniatures. I wondered if Barbie clothes would fit the ones you made? These could be embellished, of course. I do have some polymer clay but not sure if I am up to making the faces on the dolls yet... lol

      Hello Kris! I'm glad you enjoyed this video! My Dolls are 6 around inches or less. Barbie clothes are too Big, unless they get some serious alterations!😅 I totally get when it comes to miniatures and understanding scale ⚖️. Making Dolls does take practice. Consider buying some dollhouse dolls and dressing them to get used to their size. Let me know how it goes ☺️

      @@littlegretchensworkshop7665 Have you made any of your dolls based off of a real friend or family member? The doll I want to create is based off of my favorite pianist...

    Every time I try polymer clay I burn it so, I am thinking of trying to use Milliput because it is two part, cures by itself and doesn't shrink. I am going to use pipecleaners for the limbs but will try the torso in Milliput, luckily I have a head and hands that will fit the teenage doll I'm making, I need it to be a tad smaller and generally younger looking than the others. I may try doing a whole baby if the Milliput works. ( a whole baby sounds terrible, as if I usually make half babies😂)

      Yes with polymer clay you definitely have to use the timer for the cooking and really being careful to use the right temperature for that particular brand of clay and the depart pieces are small they don't need as much time to bake because they cook faster than thicker pieces. I'm excited to hear that you're making a DOLL!😃 Even if it's a half baby LOL LOLOLOL!¡!!😂 🤣😆 🤣😆 LOL!

    Do you use a regular oven to bake your clay? Seems a waste to heat the oven for baking tiny bits

    • @littlegretchensworkshop7665
      @littlegretchensworkshop7665  8 місяців тому

      Hi Katie! Yes My home oven is what I use to bake my polymer clay items. You can also use a heat gun. But as far as waste, some may say entire notion of making miniatures for pleasure is a "WASTE". Also, the savings of making many miniature items especially DOLLS, and many other miniature items is definitely less than cost of the use of my oven. Thank you for watching and i appreciate your feedback!

    Can you cheesecloth or paper towels soaked in glue for the body base?

    What size should the head be for a 5.5 adult doll?

    • @littlegretchensworkshop7665
      @littlegretchensworkshop7665  7 місяців тому

      HI Tonya! I mentally use the the size of a small grape for head sizes. But be careful because some grapes are too big! Many mass produced Dolls to me are out of proportion. Their hands sand feet are waaaaay too small and arms are short. I believe you can use a little creative freedom when it comes to dolls. I am not a purist when it comes to 12th scale dollmaking, definitely so use your own discretion when it comes to their body proportions. That is another reason i have so many "other dolls (pre-made ) to help me determine what I didn't like or wanted to do differently with my creations.The main thing is to keep your Dolls size and scale looking natural in you miniature scenes and dollhouses with the furniture and accessories and DOORWAYS! LOLOLOLOL!! Thank you for allowing me to share.
