- Carl Jung: Consciousness, Ego, & Personality Theory
In this video, I go over what I have learned from a book titled Analytical Psychology Its Theory And Practice by Carl Jung. This book is actually a transcript of five lectures Jung gave in 1935 called the Tavistock lectures, which were conducted in front of an audience of medical professionals. They are very interesting lectures as you get a feel for Jung's ideas as he is able to speak freely and openly to the audience and a great Q&A section further illuminates the discussion clarifying Jung's ideas on analytical psychology. In part 1 we go over Jung's ideas on consciousness, ego, and personality types and theory. Jung is not only a researcher of psychology but is also a great practitioner and psychoanalysts which informs much of his work and writings. I am passionate about understanding more about the works of Carl Jung and trying to understand each concept (e.g. his ideas on consciousness, ego, personality, the collective unconscious, dreams, etc). If this interests you then please follow along with me as I continue to delve deeper into Carl Jung's philosophy and psychology. I'll be releasing more videos on Carl Jung as I learn more about his ideas on the unconscious mind, his methods of dream analysis, and much more.

Thanks for watching, more Carl Jung videos to come in the future when I get around to it! Hope you guys enjoyed it.
Actually, It really helps me, thank you :)
I really liked this video! I have been particularly interested in the idea of the Ego. You are the first one to explain the Jungian idea of the "Ego" correctly (that is, if my understanding is correct :s ). Many of the youtubers talking about the Jungian Ego claims it to be essentially something illusionary created by thought, but Jung never said anything like it. He said what you said: the ego is the anchorpoint that allows for continual consciousness.
I am glad! Yes, Jung thought consciousness was also very important and the Ego has it's role to play and can't be denied either.
Such a shame that this video has only 145 views.. You deserve a lot more. Really good explanation!
You might be interested in Stanislav Grof's psychology as well. He refers a lot to the Jungian archetypes. :)
Thanks for your encouragement and the suggestion, I'll look him up. :-)
I subbed in case you throw any further well-digested psychology at us :D
I hope to honour your subscription ;-)
Benedek Bálint brilliant
Thanks jared this incredible explanation.
Thank you for taking the time to break it down, very helpful
Great insight and great channel. Loved the way you structured the lecture and build understanding.
But I still cant get my mind around the fact you said that memory and process judgement draws from unconscious while they both seem to be part of the conscious mind in total and also directly connected with sensing data and intuition. The 'mysterious' intuition is drawing from unconsciously sensing of external data, memory and process judgment, thus all remains a part of concious mind in total.
Good job 👍
I’m very happy with myself now I did a little dodo
I didn't have a doggy bag.
disorganized rambling
Lol it gets better once I'm warmed up....
