Xbox 1st party don't care about putting in extra effort when no one is buying their games. They're not buying these games, so why bother? $10 a month for day and date games come at a price. And that price is the power to vote with their wallet. PS 1st party is fighting for our $70 so they need to put in real effort.
That's why Pentiment only got a 120fps mode when it went to PS5, why HiFi Rush runs better on PS5, and why Sea of Thieves is giving PS5 players 120fps mode, DualSense features, and exclusive content. Actual paying customers get good products, people who just play through subscription service get whatever the devs feel like giving them, and they better not complain since they're playing for "free".

I've been on daily for like 12-15 hours since launch and still got all sorts to find and do. It's nuts 😋

Microsoft already took steps for any class action by deleting a “60fps will be standard” tweet and delisting the video claiming Series S offers the same Series X experience at lower resolution. @@truknet You must understand the difference in saying your device supports 8K, 4K 120 and outright claiming it will be standard. Both consoles support those standards with HDMI 2.1 However claiming a 60fps baseline standard for games is untrue and can be challenged. Hence why they have since removed the quote, the fact they removed it says a lot.

Honestly, I feel like MS has an optimization issue because they have to release a PC version on day 1. They have fewer resources to optimize the console version.
I don't think that's quite it, it MIGHT be a factor, but I'm leaning more toward the reasoning being... why would they? Why would developers put in that extra effort when A) the Xbox version of Multiplats barely sells, and B) If it's in GamePass.
Why would developers put in that extra work if they know the Xbox version is not going to sell, it's simply wasted time, money & effort, if that were me, I too would do a half-ass job, cutting corners every chance I get, just to get the job done as quickly as I can, especially knowing the Xbox version will only make up a measly 10% of the sales.
last time i watched ue5 engine presentations there were no strict requirements to use lumen, nanite or other epic's technology. You can use nanite to generate LoDs, you can use your own solutions for light etc. For example, when Bend Studio were making Days Gone, there was no physics(in ue4) for 2 wheeled vehicles, so they wrote it themselves(modified existing one). Same goes for rock steady, they modified the shit out of the ue 3/3.5.
Yes, i assume there are some things hard/time consuming to rewrite in ue5, so why use it then?
I think part of MS problem is the OG marketing for the series s/x .. them both being able to run games at the same frame rate but scales the resolution just like on PC was a real sell. If 1st party makes a game that runs 60 on the X and 30 on the S, it outright shows their marketing was a lie and they cant do that.

I always bought every console, but after the 1X came out and it was all lies AGAIN, about the console and games coming...I was done with Xbox for good. Really, they lost me when they canceled Scalebound after the year delay, and working Platinum to the point of some ending up in the hospital from exhaustion...why? They wanted 4 player and their console sucked. Platinum wanted it single player...it was the game the director waited to make since high school, and they not only canceled it, they kept the ip of his dream game and have done squat with it.
Same I didn't even have a Xbox at the time but Scalebound was a game that would of made me buy a Xbox but when they canceled it I was pissed because it looked like such a good fucking brand new ip and they canned it I said they are idiots for it

I think it's a combination of things as to why PS4 developers did 30fps as creative decision. The most obvious is they didn't have D&D PC to entice people to get away from console. But the other is if it did have a have a performance mode, the game likely would be 480p with no upscaler technology and techniques for 1080p screens. So damn would it look terrible. I remember when I played Nioh on performance mode (720p) and damn was it blurry and ugly. So I can imagine how bad demanding games like Uncharted 4 or Horizon would look, if they could've inserted a performance patch.
720p on a 20 inch monitor or screen of Asus Rog, the screens aren't large enough to destroy the clarity. And ultimately these devs are artists and have artists on their team. So they want to showcase their art in most impressive light possible on the hardware available to them.
You are absolutely right that they pigeon held themselves with D&D with PC. Because if they did have performance modes, the game would get maimed with downgrades. I still think they should have had at least a 40fps mode though.
My takeaway? Xbox truly put themselves in Dog shit situation. Series S sucks and is the base. Series X is not great either and power is squandered by the base being so unimpressive. Whereas the PS5 Pro's base trades blows with Series X. So the Pro is gonna go so much further. Especially if the PSSR is worth its salt.
Man, the PS3 gen showed Sony's grit, adaptability, and battle tested Ness. They had no choice but to bolster first and second party because developer perception was so low 360 either got defacto timed exclusive or contractual exclusivity.
And in turn consumers en masse gravitated to 360
If the Series S is the base and X is the Pro, then I really did waste my money. I play 3rd party on PS5 just for the trophies.

Doom 2016 ran flawlessly on my onex. Microsoft mandated developers to update their games to output "4k"....and turned doom into a stuttering mess. That was the beginning of the end for me on xbox. I'm obviously beyond a patient man. Left xbox after halo fell apart. Which was basically the only game they had and they ruined it. They literally had one job.

I would argue that even during the 360 days Microsoft was really bad. All they did was halo (until bungie left mid gen) , forza and fable. Even gears was developed and owned by epic games and once they wanted to bring gears to ps3 (there is even a playable gears 3 ps3 port on the internet) Microsoft said no shit we can’t let this happen and bought the ip off of epic games. Which was stupid for epic because it killed the potential growth of the franchise and now it’s dead
Microsoft was super lucky that generation that Sony released 1,5 years later, which resulted in a lot of accidental timed exclusives like oblivion, mass effect, Bioshock, splinter cell etc (which all came to ps3 later) while games became so expensive that everything was Multiplattform going forward (gta4, ff13, teilen 6, dmc4, Resi5)
Point is, what did Microsoft actually do good in the 360 era? It was a lightning in the bottle moment. Sony had to launch ps3 later because Blu-ray wasn’t finalized. People don’t remember it now but back then hd-dvd almost won the format battle, it wasn’t until the ps3 released and was the defacto cheapest Blu-ray player, that blu-ray won the format war and killed he-dvd within a year. But it did cost Sony the early parts of the generation
FF7 Remake is a last generation game. Why would anyone compare it to Hellbalde 2, a game made specifically for THIS generation of consoles. These guys are just doing way too much, it's really sad.

The DF Hellblade 2 analysis will be interesting to know the internal resolution of both machines. The game appears gpu bottleknecked on console. My guess is to hit 60fps on the S console requires a resolution target too low-quality to ship for release. Which means even if 60fps on X was viable it can’t have it due to their own parity clause.

It has questions like; are you showing a diverse range of characters? Are your female characters as strong as their male counterparts? Are your females clothed appropriately for their role/s within the overall narrative of the game? This kind of stuff. Then, going further; started internally discussing if character creators should be reviewed as they could allow problematic situations where players could theoretically create (gods forbid) females that are in direct violation of said DEI framework guidelines. PS4 played all of those multiplats better than Xbox One for cheaper and the first half of last gen was from 2013 to around Q2 2017 where PS4 had Bloodborne, HZD and Uncharted 4. What did Xbox have in that period that even remotely approaches that quality level? All I see from Xbox are franchises that fell from grace with some of the least impressive installments of their respective series. Maybe Forza Horizon 3?
@Blag_Cog Dude they pivoted to ps move and it flopped horribly. Kinect outsold it 5 to 1. Ofcourse to xbox it will be viable to place it in the box. If the devs said at the time that 25million install base was too small to make games for. That move made sense, the sacrifice to the base hardware to allow that hurt them.
But if Cerny shipped the ps4 that he wanted to ship with only 4gb of ram and no HDD. Xbox would have been on top now. Better thank ubisoft and Randy pitchfork from take 2.

They had games, but they only had like 4 or 5 studios then that had to carry the platform. And they delivered, halo gears and forza! But that messed them up. The second half of the gen I'd were they faltered. But the investments that they made then, they are going to reap now!
Sony pivoted during that time because their profit margins were low even with high sales because dev costs skyrocketed. So they made their team pivot to live service games. They just canceled like 7 of them. And closed 4 studios. Now they are behind on development. Xbox doesn't have that problem anymore.
So the second half of this gen into the next gen will actually be in xbox favor!
The only thing in question is how much marketshare will they regain!

hey bought gaikai to pivot into game rentals because their games were not selling well. They started psnow, then bought out their competition ONLIVE. And after 8 years of trying it on pc, psvita, ps3 ps4, ps5, TV and mobile. It failed miserably! And they folded it into ps+!
They pivoted to live service 12 games in 3 years. They canceled 7. A few of them already failed. More is going to be reviewed to be canceled, and others have been delayed. Helldivers 2 is the only success so far. That's another failed pivot so far!

Why the hate on the series x console? It’s a developers decision to make it 30fps. The series x is more than capable of running any PlayStation console exclusive at 60 fps. And I’m playing dragon dogma 2 on the series x with uncapped frames and it literally feels like 4k60. I’m pretty sure anybody on ps5 can say the same . Uncapped frames with VRR support should be the new norm until next generation…Performance mode on release dates are always unsteady and looks like clayed textured graphics. This whole ps5 generation I played on quality with unlocked frames.

And Redfall got updated to 60fps 5mths after launch. It took Guerilla games the same time to fix their 60fps mode to a good experience.
Every single PS 1st party games made for PS5 has at least performance mode for 60FPS and many with advanced performance mode.
The same cannot be said for Xbox. Enjoy lock 30FPS.

I would rather have a 60fps and I will always choose performance mode when it has 1, but I have always said I can play games at 30 and I ain't missing out on a game like Dragons Dogma 2. They can't believe what they say or they are delusional beyond repair. Hellblade 1 was really good....not great combat, but great graphics, good story, and the schizophrenic voices in her head with headphones on was done so brilliantly, I felt like they nailed what people who suffer they go through. I had to remove the headset and take breaks...added to the storytelling. Part 2? I expect it to be dogsh1t. What isn't that Xbox has touched for years now...AND a co-founder who had the biggest impact on Ninja Theorys game just left...that only happens when you're disgruntled under new management and at Xbox, every studio they buy loses all the talent and they only own the studio name.

I wasn't talking graphics, though if you think it was blurry, go look again, it was one of the best looking games last gen. I played it on ps4. Obviously ps5 is going to look better, but I hate when people try and pretend something that was great suddenly wasn't in hindsight. I mainly thought it was great because of the way the whole package was built. At the time, and honestly no time since, they used audio in such a brilliant way with the voices she heard in her head all the time. Never played another game that used audio in storytelling in such a brilliant, beautiful way. You can play the game today on ps4/ps4 pro and it's still one of the sharpest, incredible graphic power houses that will look better than many ps5 games. The weakest part of the game is the combat, but I felt immediately as if combat was obviously not what the game was about nor was it meant to be it's strong suit.
But hey, be my guest if you want to misremember the game, or misrepresent it now because MS owns them, likely meaning the sequel will be total garbage.
so to get it to look like a playstation game they had to CUT FPS in half, then take away HALF of the screen with hugh black bars, the only make sure u could fight 1 enemy at a time, then fence u in to lane ways, then give u a 6 hour game so ur console doesn't blow up, then charge u 50 bucks for a game that got announced be4 every ps5 and still they all came out be4 it ,#u can polish a thrid but its still a thrid
