  • This event was held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Fork (UUCSF). A follow up community discussion is planned for April 14. Time and location TBA.
Noor A’wad and Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger spoke about Roots/Shorashim/Judur, an organization run by local Palestinian and Israeli individuals who are advocates for peace and understanding between the groups.
Rabbi Schlesinger, Roots co-founder and Director of International Relations, and A’wad, a Palestinian Roots activist and leader, shared their personal stories, their involvement with Roots, and the organization’s ongoing work to foster positive change through community building, open-dialogue, mutual recognition, empathy, and creativity.
Located in the West Bank, in the Gush Etzion-Bethlehem-Hebron area, with branches in the Jordan Valley, and the Ariel-Ramallah region, Roots has brought thousands of Palestinians and Israelis together through interfaith lectures, youth photography workshops, and more.
This event was co-sponsored by Christ Episcopal Church, Gesher Bridge Shul, Hampton Lutheran Parish, Ocean Zendo, UUCSF, and Canio's Cultural Cafe.
