I'm so glad I chose Dr. Shrager to operate on me. I'm in good hands.....I'm also desperate for help! I like his no nonsense approach which makes me confident of having a good result, and I can hardly wait since not breathing well is a horrible way to live my life.
I find this to be very discouraging to someone like me.... someone who has Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and whose emphysema in the lower lobes. I called UPMC In Pitts. where they are performing 'coil' surgery on OLDER patients with COPD from long term smoking. Nope, can't help me. I am in my 40's... I am too young & strong to be trapped in a body with 90 year old lungs. I want ANY surgery. I will not only survive and I will make leaps and bounds! Other than trashed lungs, I'm healthy.
If I don't get valves I'll take anything I can get it's a struggle every day just getting around from room fto room no steps coils if they work hopefully Pittsburgh hospital will help me get a better quality of life I know in march hell cut it out
Hi CrazyPAGirl, just wondering if you've checked into alternative medicine? Also, maybe seeing a Functional Medicine provider would open up some opportunities for you. You might be amazed by some of the new findings through Functional Medicine.
Found the following on google about new treatment using a chemical compound of retinoic acid (clinical trials starting in the U.S. soon, if not already). Here's the article, just put the 3 w's before it. dailymail.co.uk/health/article-204532/Vitamin-cure-emphysema.html
