Spoken word is so underrated. It feels so cool to be up there on a stage expressing your poems in a powerful way like this.
Fear can be our greatest tool if we learn how to use it to motivate us. I remember when i used to perform on stage, i experienced a lot of stage-freight, my body started shivering. But eventually i found the whole experience entertaining and i became good at it
TBH this is the best poem i've ever listened, I just can't stop listening to it, its like an addict to me for real , and while i'm having little problem about fear and anxiety in my life, I've just found this poem as my pills ,my cure and my way to heal .SALUTE

Mike Xiong Rap is basically spoken word poetry, but not as good.
Oh stfu, Rap and Spoke word poetry are different things and both have their own uniqueness to them. You don't sound smart or cool when you say stupid shit like that, so stop being that idiot that everyone hates.

I think rap is influenced by spoken word and vice versa. The beat poets in the 1950s and 60s influenced hip-hop to a degree, and the current generation of spoken word poets have some hip-hop influences. The main thing they have in common is that spoken word is meant to be *heard*.
@@halthiber5490 why don't you stfu and maybe listen to a spoken word turned into a rap side by side and say that they still don't have a lot of similarities.
Great work. I am inspired to be there the way only i can for complete strangers, but knowing "its supposed to feel like an unsettling risk" thats how i know this moment is carved out to live through like no one else can.

This brought me to tears. I have been so lost and depressed, just made it out of the bottomless pit and I want to do something different with my life. I needed a TRUE sign. I think I found my niche. I just have to learn more and learn how to do it. Everything you said really touched me and I could relate to. My 3 year old saw me in tears and she came over and hugged me. On this day, this message was for me. Thank you so much.

God blessed you, Brother! I love this! I too, am a Christian spoken word artist. This piece is blessed. I wrestle with the sound of my own voice, since the age of eight.
I had a tracheotomy, and as a result of that my vocal cords were mildly damaged. This added a raspy sound to my voice. I had to grow into my voice. But, it was God who put me on radio in my twenties. And, later, on the stage. God is good. I am now, 39, and the sound of my voice, is no longer an issue.
Except when people ask, do yo have a cold? Hee hee hee... SMH. The look on their face when I show them, the faint scar on my neck. Cracks me up, everytime!
Anyway, I'm rambling like an old man, now. Which means, you reached my heart, bro. Keep it up!

The dark is ours, the hour is one
The altar made, bay incense prepared
We shed our robes, begin our chant
The salt, the water, blood
We sway and chant, chant and sway
The air is cold then hot then cold
We call our Lord appear this day. -
The cup is passed from lip to lip
We taste the life, the sweet sweet blood
The hour now is two
We sway and chant, all hands held
Our prayer for him APPEAR. -
Amid bay leaves and incense sweet

The hour is three we all are one
Our Lord has heard our plea
In suit of white his aura bright
We prostrate ourselves in love. -
