first and foremost, gil can't handle Archer on CqC. Even shirou can wreck him up at short range. So it's kinda flawed from the beginning. Still a nice animation tho
I think it would have worked better, if you made it llike oath oath under snow, where shirou uses all blades to counter ea, and afterwards simply fading out, giving it an open end
yeah, esp. since he likes stonewalling with his shield nps in his armoury, which emiya only has rho aihas (or however you spell it) to match, think the UBW chant could've been started sooner and rho to finish and counter a larger barrage, etc, but really good fight regardless like you said.
Bet you didn't watch the original fate stay night? UBW is reworked version ya know featuring Rin as main heroine. But the first FSN Saber is main Heroine. And in the Shiro vs Gil fight in the original FSN Gil actually uses his sword, heck even wielding two of them like dual blades and proceeded to clash with Shiro in close quarter combat using their swords

I love this animation, and I've rewatched it almost monthly since it came out, since it captures the essence of these two "Archers" perfectly. Even as silent stick figures they have all the character that the originals had. Also for those complaining about Ea being dodged, that's where you're assuming too much. It can't be *stopped* by any barrier short of a planet, but nobody has ever said it's *unavoidable.* It's a very 'no man of woman born can defeat me' situation, and EMIYA is a guy who thrives on technical loopholes.

I also want to point out that in the instance you’re mentioning, Gilgamesh wasn’t purely out to kill him, if you actually watched the fight you would see that Gil wanted to give iskamdar a very respectable fight and highly respected him, so he didn’t aim AT him, he aimed in front of him at the ground. As a result of this, it created a huge chasm for iskandar to jump over and for his men to fall into, giving him a 1v1 opportunity. Where did u see that he dodged it?

Archer has far better weapon skill, has his own pseudo GoB, can adapt to situations, but unfortunately he has little else. If you have more raw power it's over. Disregarding the effects of the skill, Gil's NP is anti-world whilst the skill is "evade". I doubt anyone can evade that, it would have been acceptable if it were an invincible status but it's evade.

The battle between these two remind me of another game called Stratego. In this game there are these two special pieces. The Commander: The Highest Ranking piece. And the Spy: The Lowest Ranking Piece. Unless The Commander stumbles upon a mine, he is the strongest piece on the board. However, the Spy is the only piece that can kill the Commander. Even though he’s basically fodder compared to the other ranks. Sort of like how Shirou Emiya, who could barely even qualify as a mage possessed the only skill set that was basically hand crafted to counter Gilgamesh.

While I think Gilgamesh obtained most of his treasures by himself, I think the rest of his treasury was filled by the Throne of Heroes with the early concepts of Noble Phantasms because of the legend that he owned every treasure in the world. Heroic Spirits work by a combination of feats they actually did and the legends people make about them. So while Gilgamesh is a legitimate badass which has the right to boast his power all that he wants, a considerable chunk of his strength (weaponry) wasn’t originally his. The part that every Noble Phantasm must at least been in his Gate of Babylon always irked me off. I can understand if it’s about the prototypes or the concept themselves but I’m pretty sure that most Noble Phantasms after Gilgamesh’ era have not been made using his weapons as materials, unless they’re being used as models.
Actually he shouldn't have Vajra in GOB since it's actually from the spine of a sage given directly to Indra. But Calibur and Garm could surely be possible
You have to remember that a Noble Phantasm is merely the manifestation of the Hero's legend. In this case, Gilgamesh's legend says be owns all the treasure in the world, which includes all physical NPs.
It's like he has the original version or rather the Alpha version of that weapon. It is crude and without limitation thus most cases beating their Original version or complete version. Just like in many cases some of the game breaking stuff and mechanics needed to be tweaked for full release, the prototypes were literally too broken.
This animation is so sick, awesome, cool, amazing, IMMENSE, COLOSSAL, THE BEST, BLOODY, WEAPONARY, SHOES , FRANK, DOGS , NO IDEA. And from that speech I know I couldn’t think of any more words because of how amazing this well done animation was and so combat.

I think Archer should have won the melee at the beginning, since he is leagues above Shiro in experience and somewhat on power, even with Gilgamesh having his armor.
Yea indeed Emiya its faaaaar superior in meele vs gilgamesh bc each weapon he saws, each weapon he master that style of combat So its prety much one simple style (gilgamesh) vs unlimited types of figthing (emiya)
All Emiya need is to trace Gae Derg. Gilgamesh's armor is be strong and capable of enduring attacks stronger than A-Rank but the armor is similar to Artoria's armor. Hence Lancer's Spears are a perfect counter.
Gil would have no chance in CQC against Archer, Archer can copy the abilities and strengths of the original users, he can use Gil's weapons much better than Gil himself
This made much more sense than shirou defeating Gil but if Gil is serious he's first attack would be enuma elish and Covering the sky with the gate of Babylon because in strange fake that's what he does
the thing is the version of gil summoned is his younger mindset -because of that he is much more arrogant, pulling ea is something he sees as its the most powerful np he has and its a waste on someone like archer emiya

I've rewatched this several times out of pure awesomeness, and I just realized, we don't see Triple Linked Crane Wings? I figured Archer would try that before UBW. I'm pretty sure it's his most foolproof attack that an enemy cannot avoid.
Triple-Linked Crane Wings wouldn't be effective against Gilgamesh. There are two ways to counter it: either throw yourself into the attack and hope to take both you and your opponent out, or have an omnidirectional defence. Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon would easily fulfill the latter. EMIYA could make Gil vulnerable, but the Gate would just fire shots at him and force him to either break off the attack or get skewered. In Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma, it took both Shirou and Chloe Von Einzbern using the attack to get past Angelica Ainsworth's defence, who was just a human utilizing Gilgamesh's powers. It's doubtful that the same strategy would work against the actual heroic spirit. EMIYA would know that using the technique would be a waste of time.
an archer that shoots swords out of portals and has a magical lance that can destroy worlds vs an archer that uses two shortsword/daggers, a shield, and a bow that shoots a lance that explodes on impact with a reality marble full of swords.
People let's just look at both of their lives from the beginning to the end and respect how both of their legends are so awesome and take a break from all the arguings, OK?
I feel this animation really captured Emiya as a super flexible Servant and Gilgamesh as super relaxed and condescending during battle (love them both tho).
Positive: Great animation and attention to details, you captured fighting style of Gilgamesh and Archer better than most adaptations. Bit Nitpicking: Ea cant be dodged and Gilgamesh can easily tank/block with shields attack from Caladbolg so it felt like a bit cheap ending, would been better if Archer beat him in close combat instead but its your animation so your rules I just wanted to say it if you were trying to go for "authenticity".

I believe they specify in either the manga or the visual novel, that those weapons are prototypes/models.
It's like he has the original version or rather the Alpha version of that weapon.
It is crude and without limitation thus most cases beating their Original version or complete version.
Just like in many cases some of the game breaking stuff and mechanics needed to be tweaked for full release, the prototypes were literally too broken.

I think Archer should have won the melee at the beginning, since he is leagues above Shiro in experience and somewhat on power, even with Gilgamesh having his armor.

Emiya its faaaaar superior in meele vs gilgamesh bc each weapon he saws, each weapon he master that style of combat
So its prety much one simple style (gilgamesh) vs unlimited types of figthing (emiya)
Emiya archer has spent million years on battlefield fighting across all times. You cant beat battle experience like that.
All Emiya need is to trace Gae Derg. Gilgamesh's armor is be strong and capable of enduring attacks stronger than A-Rank but the armor is similar to Artoria's armor. Hence Lancer's Spears are a perfect counter.
Gilgamesh is half-baked, hoarded so many treasures and weapons and can't use them beyond throwing them around.
Gil would have no chance in CQC against Archer, Archer can copy the abilities and strengths of the original users, he can use Gil's weapons much better than Gil himself

This made much more sense than shirou defeating Gil but if Gil is serious he's first attack would be enuma elish and Covering the sky with the gate of Babylon because in strange fake that's what he does
the thing is the version of gil summoned is his younger mindset -because of that he is much more arrogant, pulling ea is something he sees as its the most powerful np he has and its a waste on someone like archer emiya
But if gil uses his ea. Then it will be defeat for gilgamesh. Because he didn't use his strongest original weapon against a faker.

I've rewatched this several times out of pure awesomeness, and I just realized, we don't see Triple Linked Crane Wings? I figured Archer would try that before UBW. I'm pretty sure it's his most foolproof attack that an enemy cannot avoid.
Triple-Linked Crane Wings wouldn't be effective against Gilgamesh. There are two ways to counter it: either throw yourself into the attack and hope to take both you and your opponent out, or have an omnidirectional defence. Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon would easily fulfill the latter. EMIYA could make Gil vulnerable, but the Gate would just fire shots at him and force him to either break off the attack or get skewered.
In Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma, it took both Shirou and Chloe Von Einzbern using the attack to get past Angelica Ainsworth's defence, who was just a human utilizing Gilgamesh's powers. It's doubtful that the same strategy would work against the actual heroic spirit. EMIYA would know that using the technique would be a waste of time.

Positive: Great animation and attention to details, you captured fighting style of Gilgamesh and Archer better than most adaptations.
Bit Nitpicking: Ea cant be dodged and Gilgamesh can easily tank/block with shields attack from Caladbolg so it felt like a bit cheap ending, would been better if Archer beat him in close combat instead but its your animation so your rules I just wanted to say it if you were trying to go for "authenticity".
