Just absolutely blown away by the NZ footage already, got me frothing by the mouth as I’m stuck in Sydney. I would personally go on the lighter side and put 20-30lb braid, and up to 40-50lb fluoro for stickbaiting kings in Sydney harbour. Keen to see what you’ve got for next weeks video.
*Nice reel so far **enjoyable.fishing** recommend used it for about an hour after getting it from Amazon and functioned flawlessly. Very smooth retrieve and the anti reverse is perfect. Feels like a reel that would be double the price.*
You are a talented and engaging presenter Byron. The streaming quality of your videos is a cut above the rest - even on the water the picture is crisp. I’d target inshore jewies with some of that Tasline you talked about. Sounds like I need to try it!
Insane vid! Can't wait to see the NZ vlog. I lived there for 3 years fly fishing for trout and salmon and chasing pelagics in the salt. Such an incredible place! As for the reel I'd chase king's on my yak with 30lb braid and 40lb leader!
I got the Saltist MQ 20000 for popping, jigging, and stick bait fishing for the 100-150 lb bluefin tuna that have made permanent residence here in Southern California. Good times!
These things look great mate. I was so impressed by Daiwas recent product launch. For a 4000 size, I’d be targeting Port Phillip Bay Snapper with 20lb braid.
NZ is just breath taking. Love the imagery and can’t wait for next weeks video. I’d use the reel to target snapper, salmon, school tuna and kingfish with 20lbs or 40lbs depending on what I’m chasing.
The sickest reel review footage I've seen to date. Awesome review! Would love to target Blue Dotted Coral Trout in the East Kimberley. Can't wait for your NZ trip videos.
Great video again BTH! You deserve a MUCH bigger audience - I'm sure it will come. For the kind of fishing I do, would probably be jewies off the beach with 20lb braid.
I’ve got an old 4000 from 10 yrs ago and it’s still good. A Jarvis Walker Sovereign Series. Love it. People like you though have changed the way I think about my fishing methods. Used to target Bream and smaller Estuary fish with it and a bloody surf rod! So with the new MQ, by the way saw the Daiwa release show, wow some of those reels!, I’d target bigger Estuary fish Jewfish and Flathead with 20 lb j - Braid. Maybe 30 lb leader.
I would use the Saltist MQ to target Pelagics like Kingfish and Bonitos using 30lb line! A bit light and dangerous with the risk of being smoked involved but a lot of fun! Great review video Byron! Very keen to see your vlog of your NZ trip - on my bucket list of fishing destinations!
@@ByronTeaHill So you already have use one already? Nice. Can't wait for that next video of you using that reel. Cos i pick up a old TD black rod for 80$. That's why I'm now saving up for the new TD black MQ reel. Thanks for the heads up. Always love watching your UA-cam channel
Your production is top notch mate! Just learning the ropes here and know how much work it takes to put together this type of quality - I look forward to picking up some tips. as for the reel, i would spool it up with 20lbs test braid and would use it for stripers, blues and albies here in the North East of Long island NY. Thanks!
Really keen to see your NZ trip videos mate, looks epic from the preview. For the reel I’ll spool up with 20-30lb of braid, primarily for targeting snapper from kayak and/or sambo from surfcasting.
Wow what a video!!! I would love to fish NZ !!! If I had the chance to use this 4000 I’d probably target talior off the beach and snapper in the yak using 20-30lb x9 braid in Jervis bay or go 10-15lb to target flattys and Mullaway in St Georges basin !!!
Great video! 😃 Can’t wait for the saltist MQ! 1. Would spool it with Daiwa Saltiga 12 Braid. 0.14 PE 1.2 - 12,2 KG 2. Sea bass 70+ CM (bucket list) / codfish.
Great review mate. For the reel, I'd use 20lb braid for snapper in the bay. Just got a compass so the gear will combo nicely on the new yak! NZ footage looks excellent can't wait for the upcoming vid.

I'd be keen to get a comparison of the Saltist v's the Certate. I love my Certates, but boy does it hurt when you lose one... Recently had a snapper (presumably) snap a Samurai Reaction rod below the reel seat with a Certate and take it overboard.
NZ looks Epic mate!! Can’t wait to see the rest. The Saltist looks like a beautiful reel too. I’d love to have a good setup for chasing Longtail Tuna in the bay, a 4000 size with 30lb braid. One can dream…

Great footage. Visually striking. I would go with 30lb Dangan braid. I would pair it with a Bone travel rod. Fish species I would use it for would include: Snapper, Tailor, Queenfish, Tarpon.
Beautiful scenery and a great review! First time viewer of your channel; very professional 👍 For my 'big lap of Australia' planned for next year (that I've waited 40+ years for), the Saltist 4000 would be a beautiful 'do it all' reel when space-limited for the amount of tackle I can take. Spooled with the incredible Daiwa Saltiga 12 EX braid in PE2 it will cover impoundment Barra, Longtail Tuna and do service as a surf/rock reel; perfect 'do-it-all' reel (and it looks gorgeous!)
So keen for NZ trip mate, it looks amazing already. I'd chuck some 20lb Tasline on, I've been debating whether to upgrade my reels for some time now. Keep up the awesome work, hands down the best fishing youtuber out there
great review Byron n looking forward to the NZ mammoth snap vids. the first time i seen this reel was at icast n then i watched the daiwa australia product release to get more info from an aussie point of view. i had already made my mind up from icast so i am buying 2 saltists wen they arrive. the daiwa product release cemented that for me. i will be getting 2 5000s n putting them on 2 of the new saltige 9 surf rods for chasing jew on soft swimbaits from the headlands n cutters leading into the headlands. why 2, different line classes n leaders. keep up the gud work mate.

I would target snapper in the shallow reefs where I live in the sth east of SA, I’d be putting 20lb on it tbh, I use that fine diameter to smash out massive casts and the snaps aren’t xos here so makes it awesome fun! You were so lucky to make that trip, I remember the lockdowns happened just about a day b4 either side of the dates you travelled! Couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke tho! Was so happy you made it
Keen to see the next videos! Awesome review! The setups can be so versatile but I would definitely target some snapper and opt for 30lb braid paired with 30-60lb leader depending if I was to chase larger species too!

Awesome looking reel, love the electric blue but even more so... WHAT AN EPIC LOOKING TRIP!!! Great catches and great info, as usual. I'd be looking to spool on some 20lb braid with the 4000 and I think it would work a treat heading into the spring. Looking to do some light shore jigging off the rocks (maybe a Kingie or two) or that dream, trophy snapper down deep.

BT living the dream again catching stonker after stonker!!! Love it. For me the 4000 with some gosen casting braid on there around that 40lb mark chasing kings landbased. Tis nearly the season 👀
awesome video, personally i would use the reel for throwing little stick baits at small school bluefin tuna and maybe even some little deep drops 30-40 pound braid
Good Solid Review! Was keen to see what they were like since they got released on the daiwa night...I'd probably use them for a western port setup for snapper and gummies using 30lb braid either in J-Braid Grande or Nomad Pandora depending on if I needed more abrasion resistance
I’d be targeting kings on the surface in the hacking. Spooled with pe 1.5/2 casting braid. Pair it with daiwa’s td black slugger and a Berley pro hat 👌🏽 best content loving it!!!
With the 4000 reel I would probably spool it with 20-30 pound braid and uses it for spinning the surf gutters here in down south for some big greenback salmon
Hey Byron .. geez they got it good over there, some thumper reds 👌🏻 and in 2m of water. I’d be running that 4000 with 30lb j braid grand chasing some break-wall Jewfish with the new bait junkie paddle tails, pearl gudgeon or some live poddys 👍🏻 Cheers for the awesome content again and the opportunity, it’s appreciated! 🍻
Yew - I love going to NZ chasing snapper and kingys and in saying that I would use this reel chasing them down around jervis bay. I love the 20lb braid setup for this. I'll be spooling a 20 lb braid and target kings and tailor off our spot in the Central Coast when lockdown is over!
Good work Man! 🤙
Thanks mate
Love the NZ footage Byron. I would definitely go on the lighter side and put 20-25lb braid and 40-45lb fluoro. I would go and chase some big snapper and it would definitely be fun in the lighter side in my opinion
Nice!!!
Amazing footage Byron, those snappers had me salivating and dreaming of campfire fish.. I would go after Sydney harbour king fish with 20-30lb braid.. Oh how I dream to catch a snapper that big. Massive bonus points from the wife I reckon hahahaha.
It was an amazing trip mate
Looks so sick daiwa saltist is one of my favourites still have both the pervouis generation saltist reels going strong and would be super keen to try target some kingfish and some Jewies running 30lb braid love the video legend drone shots of nz blue water looks so sick can’t wait for lockdown to end and aus summer to come back
The do look nice don't they! thanks Corey.
Great footage, cant wait to see more of your NZ trip. Would love to take my dad there when lockdowns are over and we can travel again.
Saltist is a very pretty reel, one of my fave colours :)
I think i would us 20lb and target kings in Botany Bay
Thanks Jessica, cheers for getting involved again!
Awesome review Byron I would use the 4000 reel with PE2 Island blue j braid for my jewie set up.
Thanks Gary!!!
Awesome review, Definitely be after a 4000 size reel for chasing snapper with 20lb braid.
Thanks Sam
BT living the dream again catching stonker after stonker!!! Love it.
For me the 4000 with some gosen casting braid on there around that 40lb mark chasing kings landbased. Tis nearly the season 👀
Snapper season coming up!!!
awesome video, personally i would use the reel for throwing little stick baits at small school bluefin tuna and maybe even some little deep drops 30-40 pound braid
Awesome
I think it would be interesting to see a head to head with a lesser market brand reel such as a savage gear vs Daiwa or shimano
hmmnnn... good idea Daniel
Good Solid Review! Was keen to see what they were like since they got released on the daiwa night...I'd probably use them for a western port setup for snapper and gummies using 30lb braid either in J-Braid Grande or Nomad Pandora depending on if I needed more abrasion resistance
thanks Jared! I think they would be great in there. Tight lines mate
Awesome video! I’d target Queenfish in the Exmouth gulf and spool it with 20ld Tasline!
Thanks mate
I’d be targeting kings on the surface in the hacking. Spooled with pe 1.5/2 casting braid. Pair it with daiwa’s td black slugger and a Berley pro hat 👌🏽 best content loving it!!!
thanks Sabrina!!!
Lovely footage, something about snapper fishing that always draws me in,as for the reel would throw 20lb braid and chase tailor off the rocks.
Glad you enjoyed it
With the 4000 reel I would probably spool it with 20-30 pound braid and uses it for spinning the surf gutters here in down south for some big greenback salmon
Entered Beau!
Great vid mate, good to see videos on bigger species. The 3000 would be great for Snapper up here in Qld. I’d rig it with 20 pound braid.
Cheers
No worries buddy! More to come! Thanks for the entry Michael.
Great review. How good is New Zealand. Could see myself chasing some small tuna on this and some Tassie snapper.
Tony! the best dude 100%
Hey Byron .. geez they got it good over there, some thumper reds 👌🏻 and in 2m of water. I’d be running that 4000 with 30lb j braid grand chasing some break-wall Jewfish with the new bait junkie paddle tails, pearl gudgeon or some live poddys 👍🏻
Cheers for the awesome content again and the opportunity, it’s appreciated! 🍻
They do mate, the place is insane!!! my pleasure and good luck
Great vid as usual bud, hanging for the NZ show! I would use this on a 10ft beach rod and load it with 30lb mono.
You're in! thanks buddy
@@ByronTeaHill Sweet as, thank you :-)
Great vid mate. I’d spool with 20lb Tasline and chase Sydney Harbour kings on top water off the hobie.
You're in!
Chase the good old kings, with 30lb. Can’t wait for the NZ vid to drop looks insane
YUP YUP YUP!!!!
Great footage Byron!! I would be targeting south coast King fish, bonito and probably live bait big flathead . I would spool tge 4000 with 20lb braid.
Very nice! Thanks for the entry Steve.
Yew - I love going to NZ chasing snapper and kingys and in saying that I would use this reel chasing them down around jervis bay. I love the 20lb braid setup for this.
In other videos you put a lot of info regarding recording gear, any chance you could start adding rod and reel combos? Would like seeing what combos you use for all those bream!!!
A was smashing that box for the NZ adventure below - can’t wait for that footage?!!!!
Hey mate that's a good idea! I am changing gear pretty quickly but I'll try remember next vid
I would love to have a 4000 spooled with 30lb braid to take on some south east coast of South Australia as well as rat kings off the kayak. Another great video, cheers!
You're in!
Nice reel for fishing for mutton snapper in the Florida Keys. I would use 20 -30lbs Daiwa J braid 8.
You're in!
Sick review mate, if I won the reel I’d use it for bonnies tailor and salmon off the rocks and throw some 16lb J-Braid on it!
Thanks Abu
Epic video Byron 🎥🎣👍🏼
Would love the new Saltist MQ pair it up with PE 4 for Jewfish and Kings landbased !!
Interested to see the what's new with Daiwa.. keep the new gear reviews coming 🤑
Mate! Glad you liked it dude. There's a couple of reels in the background that are Daiwa, those reviews will come soon, and sure to keep us fisho's broke.
@@ByronTeaHill Watched the showcase and was frothed up on the new reels that's for sure !
Can't wait !!
Very excited about the new revelrys and Caldia LT 21 👍🏼🎣
Looks like an awesome reel for Snapper and Kings! On a 4000 I'd run 30lb braid
Didn’t let me down! How’d you go with the stuff we spoke about?
@@ByronTeaHill about to do it now 👍
20lb tasline put it on a saltist rod and chase kingfish in Sydney harbour . Cant wait for your next vid
The new Revelry just chilling in the background 👀😏
hahahhaha :) you noticed :)
Chasing cod in winter and then barra in spring, perfect size to cover all bases. 30lb braid to give plenty of leader options 🤙
Sick video man! looks like an awesome location. 🤙
Would probably use the Saltist on snapper and gummies with saltiga braid PE 2.0 36lb
Thanks Callum
Another great review Byron with some epic footage, I would use it for stick baiting and popping the reef flats for Coral Trout and the like, spooled up with 40-60lb range Braid with slightly heavier leader. If I win, I'd team it up with one of the new Saltiga C Rods which would give me a nice light to mid range offshore rig.
Awww yeah!!! nice buddy
