I can agree with this. I have been running into issue with its extremely long loading times, especially after reboot. iDrive 8/8.5 are vastly superior to iDrive 9 at this current moment.
Not from the factory... I believe there are ways to code in the feature to allow the idrive to stream while in the car and while driving. But due to regulations that is limited from the factory for safety.
Any idea how to manage the widgets on the left side? I do not find any option to put them in another order or how to delete. I have the media widget twice for whatever reason and would love to get rid of one of them.
Unfortunately, there is no way to configure those widgets. I talked with one of my regional reps and told them about this issue and how it makes no sense. There should be some sort of configuration for the customer to choose from. Is there anything else you have noticed? Im always interested to learn more from the customers perspective.
Thanks for the review. Do you know where in Idrive 9 to find the remote engine start? In my X1 with Idrive 9 this option is missing. However, the cars with Idrive 8 have this option. Please advise.
It should be housed under the climate control under the settings. I know with iDrive 9 it is very hidden and Im still learning it just as customers are.
unless BMW have made some clever hardware choices early in the development process, this would not be possible; iDrive 8/8.5 and iDrive 9 are based on different OS systems (even though Android is Linux-based) so normally that should not be a possibility

With iDrive 9, if using Apple Maps and CarPlay, can you get next turn and street name in the heads up display? Or only if using built in car gps?
I believe only it will work only with the built in GPS but I will have to try and let you know.

Will ”older ” cars with 8.5 be upgradable when BMW charge from Linux to Android based system?
I dont believe so since the OS is so much different with the Android based system. But with BMW you never know!

Where is the play/pause button on the music widget...
