[Tokyo Great Buddha Jorenji Temple] The third largest Buddha in Japan

- For my New Year's visit in Reiwa 6, I went to Jorenji Temple in Akatsuka, Itabashi Ward, Tokyo.
There is a Great Buddha here.
Did you all know?
Surprisingly, many people who live in Tokyo don't know about this.
It was built in 1972, so it may be because it's still new.
In fact, when it was first completed, the Tokyo Great Buddha was the third largest in Japan, after the Nara Great Buddha at Todaiji Temple and the Kamakura Great Buddha at Kotokuin Temple.
However, there seems to be a condition that the Buddha be cast in bronze and seated.
The Tokyo Great Buddha is surprisingly big when you actually see it in front of your eyes.
Maybe it's because of his lucky round face and good size.
It has a unique presence.
Of course, the main purpose is to pray at the main hall, but at Jorenji Temple, there may be a long line to worship at the Tokyo Great Buddha.
However, the main thing for Coco is, of course, the food stalls!
They seemed to be looking forward to stuffing their mouths with yakisoba, skewers, grilled squid, etc. at the food stalls.
Now that the coronavirus pandemic is over, I thought there would be food stalls this year, but to my surprise, Jorenji Temple wasn't there...
This fact was the first shocking event of 2024 for the couple, who had been looking forward to it without even having breakfast.
In the end, I decided to take the bus back to Narimasu Station and look for a shop that has been open since the third day.
I found several open shops, and among them I found a lively sushi restaurant.
This is Sugitama, a popular izakaya affiliated with Sushiro.
This was my first time here, but the customer service was lively and seemed nice.
I managed to avoid becoming a lunch refugee early in the new year.
