A note on the Nested Shambler and Chatterfang. Shambler acts as a BB - Sorcery - "Double your squirrels", what I mean by this. Because of its ability triggering when it dies and checking its attack power specifically, if you sacrifice all of your squirrel tokens to Chatterfang and target Nested Shambler it will give it a power equal to the number of squirrels you sacrificed +1, will then die and create that many squirrels which is doubled because of Chatterfang. For 4 more Black mana and two colorless, adding Ghost Lantern (Name might be wrong so my bad) You can double your squirrels the first time, return nested shambler to your hand with the adventure side of the lantern, play the lantern and equipt it to Chatterfang, play Nested again and sacrifice all of the tokens you made the first time. Chatterfang gets huge, you double the tokens again, and its a bigger effect than the cost it is to set it up if you have anything that helps generate black mana. Assuming you have 10 Squirrel tokens when you start this, you end up with 46 Squirrel tokens and a 25/25 Chatterfang for 8 mana. The more tokens you have going into it the more insane it gets and the cost never changes and even without the lantern it still brings 10 tokens to 22 with two mana.
Would love a video with your thoughts on bloomburrow cards that would fit well along with your additions/removals from this deck. A comparison between chatterfang, old acorn gang and hazel would be great aswell!
Hey! Definitely keep an eye out. I'm working on a video showcasing just that! I'll show the new deck list as well as other cards that work great with Chatterfang.
Hey thank you so much!! Keep an eye out as Bloomburrow releases. I'm going to be making an updated video with my new deck list and other good cards that combo well. Squirrels are the best!
Pattern of Rebirth costs 4 and requires the death trigger, but tutors any 1 creature onto the battlefield. Defense of the Heart needs one opponent to have 3 creatures in play, but tutors any 2 creatures onto the battlefield. Saw in Half makes 30+ squirrels off the hermits, and has other uses. I find it invaluable to keep a go wide strategy in my back pocket. Being wholesale combo centric is perhaps more competitive, but also rough, since any table will be happy to hate on you. Cards like triumph of the hordes, coat of arms bring depth without watering down the combo element. The Gala Greeters are quite synergistic. Awaken the Woods is not the 2 card combo piece earthcraft is, however it often offers even more utility with Chatterfang.
Hey yeah there are definitely budget friendly options! Scurry Oak & Ivy lane denizen is a cheap infinite combo and filling the deck with new squirrel cards from Bloomburrow helps as well. I'm making an updated video soon going over the Squirrel Pre-Con as well.
@@Mr.StacheOfficial After watching your video my first thought was "I wonder if someone have a video going over if the Pre-Con was better to get then upgrade or just building a deck flat out. I did find a "budget deck" on that Moxfield site but I wanted to do more research before dumping north of $100 on another deck. I'll stay tuned for the video as this will be my 2nd deck since starting the game and the first one I've built alone.
Noob here again. I was looking at stuff to pump up the squirrel creation and I found these. Unnatural Growth Primal Vigor Parallel Lives Doubling Season Eldrazi Monument Also since Jeweled Lotus just got banned what would you consider replacing it with?
I love Old Gnawbone too! I even have a spare so idk how I didn't put it together that he would be great in the deck. Time to do some editing...and maybe a deck update video
I like the deck man. My chatterfang deck is similar but a few more infinite combos. I added in alter of the brood and alter of sacrifice in my deck. I run 26 mana but i have 5 different outlets to where i use my creatures for mana instead of relying on only land so i can have more combos. Bit overall great deck bro.
How much did you spend in your deck? I’m trying to build my first edh deck ever, and want to use chatterfang as my commander but I’m trying to keep it under $120-100, and recommendation on a deck list in that price range? I definitely want a couple different infinite combos in the deck tho
Hey! I spent few hundred on this deck but got a lot of cards through packs as well. You can definitely make a Chatterfang deck for $100-120. For Infinite Combos I would recommend getting a Pitiless Plunderer as well as Scurry Oak and Ivy Lane Denizen. Those cards will give you two really nice combos that you can build off of. There are plenty cheap good squirrel cards from Modern Horizons 2 (BloomBurrow coming out soon has a Squirrel Pre-con that looks great for Chatterfang decks as well). Also look for cheap tutors to try to find your combos, Threats Undetected is an incredible card that lets you put 2 combo pieces into your hand and costs only $0.50. Throw in a bunch of ramp to thin out your deck and I think you have a great starting point. Hope this helps!
buy the new bloomburrow commander it comes with chatter and youll only have to swap out a couple cards he mentioned and it pops off note: ppl will not like you playing him lol
You know i never realized i was reading that card wrong until you said that hahaha! Thank you! I always read "Powers" as abilities rather than power and toughness but that makes much more sense. Can still be useful to potentially tutor out some combo pieces but not as powerful as I thought. Great catch!
Because chatterfang’s activated ability increases power, when used to target nested shambler you can essentially double your current squirrel tokens.
The way you explain, visually show us, and break it down is top tier ! Thank you
Awesome video!
Would love to see a follow up if anything from the new Bloomburrow release made it into the deck :)

Also throne of the god pharaoh for when i tap creatures for mana everyone takes free damage for however many are tapped. Chatterfang gang 🤙😬
Love some of your card choices. Excellent video!
Was looking for a fun new deck idea. This was a great start for me to think about but I'll have to find a MUCH more budget friendly version.

Keep rocking bud, rad video. Easy to fall in love with Chatter
So you said to put necrosynthesis on chatterfang but its more efficient on scurry oak as its another infinite combo.

Unnatural Growth
Primal Vigor
Parallel Lives
Doubling Season
Eldrazi Monument

Can you post the decklist?
Hey! Can't believe I forgot to add that in the video. I'm adding my Moxfield link below so you can see the updated decklist with the printings I have. I will also add it to the description. Thank you for catching that!
