I'm from SC and have seen Tessa with chamber music groups three times if I remember right. On two of the occasions she whipped out some bluegrass at the end and really ripped it up! Loved her playing both classical and bluegrass. See her if you can.
Boy, it is grand to hear a violinist who can play fiddle with some authority. Used to be considered slumming. I learned classical as kid, but my rock&roll Brother was crazy for guitar, and eventually got me playing everything from Surf music to Beatles to Bluegrass, Blues, Ragtime, and Celtic. I still played classical, with a bunch of orchestras & quartets, did session work & concerts. It's like learning different languages. It's okay to speak with an accent, but it's nice to learn how the native speakers actually pronounce & phrase things, right? If I could play like this lady, I would call myself a fiddler...
Very cool. I love classical music and was an amateur violist. Few who don't play have an idea of hard this music and other folk music forms is to play. A lot of classical musician would die on bluegrass, klezmer, Irish music and other forms.

If anyone here is not familiar with Joseph Lendvay - Hungarian violinist - you might want to look him up. Tessa's playing is exquisite!!! Bravo!!!
While you're at it, look up Pekka Kuusisto - Finnish violinist - as well.
