    Hi Ben, great review. Would you recommend this MDX A Spec over the new Lexus RX?

    I'm torn between the MDX Aspec and Explorer ST

      I almost bought an Explorer earlier this year, but with delivery delays , missing chips/features and recalls I didn’t feel confident that the vehicle would be reliable.
      I opted for an A-Spec and couldn’t be happier. I was coming from a 2017 Cadillac CTS and while the MDX doesn’t handle nearly as well it’s no slouch. You’ll have to spend more to find a 7 seater that handles better.
      The MDX performed well on many long road trips this year. I have put 20k miles on it in 8 months and it still feels brand new. Get the A-Spec you won’t be disappointed.
      Also, it has plenty of power for all but the most aggressive driving situations.

      Those were my two choices as well. I've had several MDXs over the years, with the last one being a 2019. Switched to an F-150 for a couple of years and then decided to get a 2023 MDX. The ST is a great SUV, and I had the luxury of driving one for a few weeks before deciding on a 2023 MDX A-spec. I couldn't see myself doing justice to the 400 HP that the vehicle generates, it'll be wasted on many drivers (my opinion).The price tag (in Canada) for the ST is unjustifiably high for an interior that lacks in any kind of luxury. The 2023 ST is still stuck on Sync3, which I find annoying and glitchy, especially when most people pay with their phones in a drive-thru. I realize it's not an SUV, but my 18 month experience with the F-150 left me super impressed with the truck. If I had the room to park and wide highways to drive, I'd not hesitate to get another one. In the meantime, you can't go wrong with the MDX over the ST.

    The Lexus RX(2 row) is much smaller than the MDX(3 rows), why are you comparing both?

    My major complain is why….why do they still continue to make the MDX (and other Acuras) the need to run on $6 per gallon (at least in Calif.) premium gas? Just dumb in this day! Honda, ah…err…Acura in so many ways is just so backwards.
    And for this money it doesn’t even have 2nd row heated seats, let alone cooler seats (only up-front driver and passenger get those). Honestly for the money, less money actually I’d get the top-label Hyundai Palisade that does have second-row heated and cooled seats!

    Currently leasing a 2020 MDX SH-AWD. Test drove 2023 MDX w/Tech Package. It handled very well over bumps and corners. The biggest change is the tranny and the double wishbone front suspension instead of MacPherson struts. Of course other bells and whistles like infotainment, backup camera. For me it's a no go because, the seating comfort on the back is horrible. Thigh support was cut by 2 inches and the height is lower is 1.5 inched and I measured with a tape. Gives Spacious feeling but really missing the comfort. I'm 5'10 and when the driver seat is all the way back, there is no legroom for the passenger behind. The knee kind of hit the back of the seat. Also the back seat comfort in general was poor compared to the 2020 MDX. The infotainment screen is not touchscreen, perhaps it's far away from the driver. You've to use the joystick, something I'm not a fan of. The ELS audio in the 23 sounded way better. It handled nicely over bumps. As always Acura skimped on the road noise underbody/wheelwells insulation. It could be better.

    Not the same of target customers, RX is now totally focusing on hybrid power hence a bit more luxury, softer and quieter, as well as 5 seater only. MDX is sportier and seven seater, not as luxury or quiet as Lexus. Other than the price maybe slightly comparable, I don’t see any direct rivalry between these two models anymore. Spec to spec, Lexus is much more upper class (aka more expensive) than Acura now.

      In class it is a direct comparison. It’s like you don’t understand what comparison means

      Actually the MDX is more luxurious too

    • @AFCompany
      @AFCompany Рік тому +3

      The new RX does indeed have a quieter ride but it is definitely not as nice as the MDX. The interior of a lot of new Lexus is extremely cheap and on par with what Toyota has in their interiors. The RX has a dashboard covered in plastic with a screen slapped in the middle while the MDX’s dash is leather wrapped with contrast stitching and real wood trim. Quite frankly most of Lexus line up has fallen behind IS, NX, UX, RX, LX and Genesis and Acura are producing the best luxury cars from Asia. Lexus dominates because they have the best customer service in the industry but their cars no longer sit at the top.

      @@AFCompany your view, I tried my friend’s new MDX, I didn’t feel it better than the new RX (we have ordered one, but yet to be delivered, currently my wife drives last gen RX450h). But we are biased, having been loyal Lexus customers nearly 2 decades. And we like the reliability, plush ride and quietness of Lexus over other features (like those retirees 😂). The new MDX is a big improvement, no doubt, just not to my taste. I am just saying new RX and new MDX are targeting different customers now, so not an Apple to Apple comparison.

    • @AFCompany
      @AFCompany Рік тому +2

      @@siquanwu3131 I don’t feel like they have ever targeted the same audience although they are direct competitors. Lexus is trying to compete with Mercedes and I have never felt that that has been Acuras goal. Acura has always done their own thing and focused on performance luxury over plush luxury. I will say you will have a nicer ride in the Lexus but it is a numb ride and doesn’t handle or drive as engaging as the MDX. Which is why I have always felt Lexus caters to an older audience than Acura and always has. Did you test drive the MDX or just ride in your friends? Which version of the RX did you order?
