Rodney Hillhouse actually, it isn't. Nitrous oxide provides more oxygen than what is in the air so that you can burn more fuel. Nitrous is an oxidizer which promotes burning but is not a fuel itself.

The reason it broke with nitrous is because it made the metal super cold and brittle.

Mos any compressor regulator can not only be adjusted for output pressure by the know but also the max pressure can be increased by adjusting the limiting screw. Most compressors can be set to at least 180psi, or more.

Interesting, it looked like it was just a pressure failure of the plate, as opposed to outright centrifugal disintegration of the impeller like you'd expect....I was screwing around in the shop one time, playing with the air gun and the "stitcher", a tire repair tool that has a toothed wheel for rolling patches down. I was spinning it up with shop air @ 125 psi and it was screaming like a turbo, then suddenly the plastic bearing race decided to explode and it slung steel ball bearings in every direction and the wheel ping-ponged all over the floor like a psycho Beyblade or something for about 10 seconds. It was pretty epic. I have more shop hooliganism I've done. Glad to see the tradition is alive and well!

Could the freezing be the problem? What if you feed it room temp air instead? Or feed variable temp air that keeps the turbo in the best ideal temp for highest structural integrity?
Also... I'm pretty sure the turbo broke from the moving parts being frozen way before it did from pressure. The bolts that hold the back on froze and the impeller froze/broke.

Turtle-_- Gaming well because it would be too hard for the reward, I'm not that experienced with forced induction in general, but I know it wouldn't really produce that much air to actually do anything in an rc car, and since an rc car might not can produce that much more fuel due to it being rc car with no extra pumps or anything, and not that much fuel space, the af ratio would get a little messed up, too much air I'm guessing and also the little turbo wouldn't actually create that much air anyways so.. that's just my guess..

watching in 2020 its crazy how far you guys have come.
The reason for the cold temperatures is from a phenomenon called adiabatic cooling. This is where the gas loses energy by expanding instead of transferring heat by conduction. The greater the pressure diff, the greater the effect. Paintballers would be very familiar with this, since their tanks can get freaking cold!

I assume the cold temperature is what broke it and not the pressure. Metal shrinks maybe that is why the screws were loose and fall from the casing.
