Sods law that uninterested passers by get the chance to watch this when i'd chop my right knacker off to have stood and watched it live. What a talent Karl is, great backing too 👌
I’m saddened and a bit ashamed that Karl Wallinger and World Party passed me by. The passers by during this performance are perhaps something of a metaphor. For those who stuck around and listened to World Party and Karl, their lives were richer for it. I’m going to make up for lost time. Thankfully, the music never goes away. RIP Karl.
He left lots of amazing music. What you truly missed out on was the Facebook interaction. He answered every single one of my fanboy questions.....and was so funny.
The world says…..you will be sorely missed. A talent that big! We were lucky you shared it with us. World Party - the perfect name for your band. RIP Karl ❤
I saw World Party… (Karl , the gentleman playing violin here, and another gentleman on guitar)… in NYC at the City Winery… several years back… it was a wonderful night of music and laughter. I would have loved to have been at this record store… watching this performance. The light has brought you home now Karl , I just want to say thank you 🙏 for your music… it’s meant so much to me… I’m glad you were here. Sending out a prayer of Peace 🕊️ to you… 🌜🌞🌛
Hi Don. I’ve recently watched a version of Is It Like Today recorded at the NYC City Winery. The guy on violin in this video was playing a mandolin in the Winery video. Absolutely superb version. I’m a bit jealous of you being there and watching the set
all those people passing by thinging its a busker........its Karl Wallinger ! .....they go home....do a bit of re-search.....and massivly regret not staying to see a living legend !
I'm 66. This hits hard. I always loved Waterboys and especially World Party and mostly Karl. So grounded, so in touch, just an all-around nice person. I give my best to his family. He touched so many of us. You will live forever in our hearts, Karl Wallinger. (On a different note, I found the backing vocal in this performance to be distracting. But this is what happens when you're live.)
I'm a Hundred and two years of age. And I think that Karl Wallinger was possibly best British musician and songwriter of 20th and 21st centuries. All my carers think so too.
That’s lovely Larry thank you for your comment, I knew Karl when we were schoolchildren together, and then later when he came to Frome to perform, and he really hadn’t changed much! Who would have thought when we met first that he would go on to make such great music that was the soundtrack to our lives- we played constantly Waterboys and then World Party… Currently caring for my 103 yr old mother in law whose knowledge and interest in popular music probably stopped with the Beatles! So good on you and best wishes David
My English teacher, Miss Thomas, upon hearing me and some friends had started a band, told us her cousin was in a band and bought a tape in the next day, it was Karl w. Fan ever since.
had the pleasure of moving some of his gear from JHE when I was working for John Henry ...to his house back in '92...talked about The Beatles...A LOT ....great song and lush bloke :)
Cool, he always seems like a good man, great song writer, love Goodbye Jumbo, we used to hire equipment from John Henry when I worked with Supermick lights in the early 90's
What a delightful little Cameo! One of my favourite songs. Unique street location. Karl, after all you've been through, "you still got it" Finding this has really made my day!
Went to see the Egyptology tour with my mate Ian. At the end of the gig, I was chatting to some people about my Goodbye Jumbo T shirt. Then couldn’t find my mate. Missed my last tram and bus. Eventually the next day I finally got hold of him. He’d seen an open door and sneaked into the Green Room. He spent some hours drinking Karl’s beer and smoking his reefer with him. He only got turfed out when he tried to get on the tour bus with them. 😂

Indeed 'Sods Law' is fundamental to the Universe that we inhabit!!...
@AntonyFleck it totally is
@@AntonyFleck You can never escape Gravity, Sod's Law and compound interest.

RIP Karl and thanks for all the great music😢❤❤❤

Karl is the one on guitar!!
Yes … I’m aware who Karl is … I saw him… 10 feet away from me… in City Winery NYC.

Karl is totally underated. And the thing i love about him is he doesn't care 😁😁

Alternative view, I found the guy doing the backing vocals did an excellent job in bringing the song together as a two piece. Who was he?
Yeah, he was a really nice guy. Very funny and a great songwriter and singer.

The best UK songwriter of our generation. Loved Karl, gone way too soon. Safe travels mate.
World Party is my childhood. Long live Karl Wallinger!
My English teacher, Miss Thomas, upon hearing me and some friends had started a band, told us her cousin was in a band and bought a tape in the next day, it was Karl w. Fan ever since.
This is achingly beautiful
Wow the smiles on their faces are so big and bright! I've been a fan since the first time I heard this song...this is my favorite song of all time.
One of my favorite musicians and lyricists. Thanks for this. 💖
It would have been incredible to see him busking like this. Amazing!
The world say’s- give a little bit give a little bit of your love to me 😢 such a lovely soul Karl you gave more than a little bit to the world 💗🌟🕊
Gutted but yet smiling as his music always made me happy . I loved watching people react when I introduced them to his music.

Wore the tape out on this album, bought the CD, and had it stolen from my glove compartment. Thank god for UA-cam.
Thanks for sharing. One of our great "forgotten" artists.

Love Karl. Amazing songwriter
Between the two of them, covering so many parts of this song. Just love this!
I know it's 10 years, Karl but damn there is none better.
He was quite brilliant. What a songwriter. Robbie Williams's biggest hit and no one knew who wrote it.
I would have shit a brick if I was walking down the sidewalk and stumbled onto this.

Kinda sad seeing people walk by and ignore them, completely clueless of his history and talent. Their loss, but sad nonetheless.
Those people walking by have no idea of what - and who - they're missing.
Cheers . Magic song 💚🤘
Love this ❤
