All hail the sovereign!
He was a happily married man to a Somali American supermodel named Iman. R. I. P. David Robert Jones
You haven't even touched the surface with Bowie the man is a legend !
Another example of how good the 80's were. So many genres, so much great music. Took decades to realize how lucky we were.
David Bowie & Annie Lennox singing Queen’s “Under Pressure” in honor of Freddie Mercury is an incredible live performance
And the video of their rehearsal before the show. Also awesome.
That performance is just pure immortal art.
Agree- Annie brought her A game to perform with her crush!!
@@foxandscout Yep, that rehearsal clip. Watching Bowie's reaction to Lennox's power set was so genuine.
So true !
Under pressure is a good one. He sings with queen
absolutely agree!!!! amazing song!
Absolutely!!! The song resonates even in today's world!! Great song!!!
David Bowie "Heroes"- a MUST for any Bowie fan...
easily his best song
YES, YES, YES!!! Especially when he sang that with the band Queen as a tribute to Freddy Mercury. That and "Blue Jean".
Live @ Wembley!!!
Heroes makes me cry . . . even more so since he passed away.
@@lauriemartin490 Same. Especially only after his death, we found out he supported so many charities and gave so much back to the world. He never spoke a word about it. That's a hero!
This song is on the album “Let’s Dance” and your next Bowie song should be the single “Let’s Dance”. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the session guitarist on the entire record, but you can really identify SRV on that particular song.
And on China Girl, for my money.
I' m thinking they'd be less confused if they reacted to songs from one album until moving onto another one and yet another style. I already recommended Let's Dance then China Girl should follow
and do not forget the producer of the Let's Dance album is old disco king Nile Rodgers from Chic, whose song Le Freak is a must.
He was called the Duke of rock because of his style
Filmed in Australia as well 🇦🇺 he wrote most of that album not far from where I live, he was in the Tweed Heads Hinterland for almost a year there, that property was only recently sold 🙌🏼
China Girl is another great song from the "Let's Dance" album. Another great song if you want to get on the dance floor. Stevie Ray Vaughns Guitar work really stands out on this album.
Yes!
Young Americans.. another great song by Bowie.
But make sure it's the full album version!
@@martymclean3763 There is this incredible live version. In the comments there is a man saying he was there in the audience! Imagine that. ua-cam.com/video/ydLcs4VrjZQ/v-deo.html
Its a great album as well!
It took him minutes took her nowhere.
@@bobhook336 Heaven knows she’d have taken anything!
David Bowie and Freddie Mercury Under Pressure. The note Freddie reaches on the word higher” - crazy.
China girl and let's dance have Stevie Ray on guitar.
David Bowie was doing what Prince does 20 years before Prince. He was the cutting edge, he shocked and appalled his fans with every new look, and to complement the look, he had to have a new sound to go with it. At least that's how it seemed to me. Under Pressure and Space Oddity are my two favorite David Bowie songs, and they couldn't be more different!
R.I.P david you made the church on time the best artist ever to grace the music industry
Let's Dance is a must for this era of his career.
“Space Oddity” is my fave Bowie song.
How about the sequel"Ashes to Ashes"?
@@bobcorbin3294 Both. I would recommend Space Oddity as the prequel to Ashes to Ashes.
@@bobcorbin3294 Not so much.
@@1972mrgray totally agree
David is a chameleon! He changed his music and look at will. That's called 'talented'. And you can believe it, this man had talent in bushels. Sometimes it just made you want to say, 'How the heck does he do it?' But every time a different sound and look. Remarkable artist.
He’s the one that brought back the Zoot Suit into the 80’s!!
You've also got to watch the movie David was in. "Labyrinth." It's just pure fun.
Another movie is "The Man Who Fell To Earth" , based on a novel by Walter Tevis, who also wrote "The Hustler", "The Color of Money" (the book is 10x better than the movie), and "Queen's Gambit".
And those pants...
He also plays Tesla in The Prestige.
Labyrinth is also a Jim Henson movie and suitable for kids your girls age
Jennifer Connelly before she blossomed into Career Opportunities and Rocketeer 😛❤️😮
I was stunned the first time I laid eyes on her in the former.
This is a good song. I like Let’s Dance.
No one cooler than David Bowie.
Those of us that grew up with Ziggy were so happy when we heard him in the 80's tearing it up in the disco clubs.
Love this song, try hearing "China Girl" and " Space Oddity".
I don't know if they're ready for space oddity
They are
Good choices!!
"Let's Dance"
@@CARNELIANTURQUOISE yeah
This is the best 80's Bowie song. China Girl and Let's Dance is next best!!!
No love for Blue Jean? Lol
@@demonhoopa it would be next! You just can't go wrong with Bowie!
I love David Bowie and Prince! They both were Androgynous and Chameleons and of course the ladies loved them both but Prince was by far the biggest ladies’ man! In the seventies David Bowie had an alter ego called Ziggy Stardust. Check out his hit, China Girl which also came from the Let’s Dance album like this song! ❤️❤️
David Bowie and Tina Turner sing Bowie's song, "Tonight" live on stage. Beauty and perfection.
“Young Americans” is probably my favorite. Also “Life on Mars” “Let’s Dance” and “Suffragette City” are all great!
Also Ziggy Stardust!
@@RicoBurghFan I agree with Young Americans. An amazing song!
Life. On. Mars.
Yes.
Man Who Sold the World, Lady Grinning Soul, Wild is the Wind.
The Let's Dance album from 1983 has SRV on guitar and the hits are Let's Dance, China Girl and Modern Love. All three are excellent
Jordan says this is new favorite Bowie song -- until he hears Stevie Ray on Let's Dance and China Girl.!!
*King David* in the house....
Gotta give props to the guy who really put alternative rock on the map!!
He wasn't in the video but the guitar on this song is played by none other than Stevie Ray Vaughan. He didn't tour with Bowie after this album was recorded.
This was released in 1983. Another hit he had in that same year was "China Girl" Again, agreat tune.
I highly recommend "Heroes", "China Girl", "Rebel Rebel", "Young Americans", and "Blue Jean". His first BIG hit was "Space Oddity", which is a trip. And then of course, there was "Under Pressure", which he did with Queen!
You left out the period including the albums Ziggy Stardust, The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory and Aladdin Sane (only the most iconic look in history, and I don't use that word ever). That's my favorite Bowie material. Oh, he also did drag and was famously bisexual.
Cat People is a brilliant song, no one seems to recommend that one!
Well they should definitely react to this DB & Queen
Dude, wtf, go back a few years.
C'mon man!
Either version of "Cat People" would be worth hearing. I also loved that song and I forgot about it.
He could sing anything & refused to put in a box...legend
This was one of the most fun songs he had in the 80s.
David Bowie "China girl" and "Let's Dance" are my FAVORITES.
Definitely Let's Dance, because as an added bonus, you get a Stevie Ray Vaughan solo at the end. Rebel Rebel is another great one.
"BUT I NEVER WAVE BYE BYE, BUT I'VE TRIED" REFERS TO HIM TRYING TO RETIRE!!! COULDN'T DO IT!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💋💋💋💋🎷🎷🎷🎷🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸
Soulful Bowie with an incredible sax solo? Young Americans, of course! You won't be disappointed. Trust me.
I'm an 80s girl, so I love this song, along with China Girl, Under Pressure, and Let's Dance.
The more Bowie you listen to the more you realize how different he kept himself. Always different - always awesome. ❤️❤️❤️
Bowie’s Greatest Team Ups
1. Bing Crosby: Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth
2. Queen: Under Pressure
3. Mick Jagger: Dancing in the Streets
I’d love to see you react to all of those.
The song,BLUE JEAN shows Bowies artistic and costume approach and...it has saxophone. Makes you wanna dance...if you like it
DB was DEFINITELY a fashionista, especially in his latter years. Plus, he was married to a super model who probably helped with his fashion sense….
The ladies may have loved Bowie... But he was absolutely head over heels for his wife. He was married for over 20 years to supermodel Iman. She was the queen in the MJ video - 'Remember the Time'.
And why wouldn't he be over the moon for her? Iman is a legendary icon in her own right.
Whenever I see pics of her the words "genetically gifted" pops in my head. She is a stunner! Of course Bowie was no slouch either. Nobody very many could rock hot-pants, thigh high boots, space suit OR 3-piece suit like Bowie!
"Wild is the Wind". A song that allows you to really hear the range of Bowie's voice. The song was written by Lalo Schifrin for an old western, but is absolutely beautiful.
Well, David Bowie was a piece of muic himself! LEGENDARY!
He was married to the supermodel Iman for decades. His passing was a loss for so many
y'all need to check out "Operator" by Jim Croce, one of the best written songs ever, I wouldn't steer ya wrong
Totally agree
There will never be another Bowie. Rock God.
7:13...Oh Amber...one does not simply start with "Modern Love" to appreciate David Bowie. But this song really did showcase his versatility as he moved to the 1980's.
From this era of Bowie... check out "Let's Dance" and "China Girl". I was lucky to have seen this particular tour from the light booth (a friend of mine was working on this tour).
Bowie and Bing Crosby singing Little Drummer Boy during a Christmas special is the best Bowie ever sounded. His voice was just angelic alongside of Bing's booming bass.
Just what I was going to say! I knew I should probably check the comments first. Lol.
I thought they did several christmas songs together all from a tv christmas special that was broke up into short videos before youtube.
I said that same thing during one of their previous Bowie reactions.
saw it live! Still get chills every time. What amazing gentlemen.
yes indeed 💖
This is one of the FEW songs that I could listen to more than once in a short period of time. It just gets you to think in a fun way. It's one of the best dance songs out there IMO. The original song had 3 sax players and one with the trumpet. The Live Aid version had two drummers. It's so musically fun that it's hard to tell the difference.
I wholeheartedly agree! It's in my top 10 songs ever.
BOWIE PRODUCED HIS ALBUMS AND MANY OTHERS. HIS FINGERPRINTS ARE ONTONS OFMUSIC!!!
Suffragette City HAS to be your next Bowie song. It's a straight banger, unlike any of the other ones you've listen to so far.
Suffragette City is from his best era, Ziggy Stardust, Hunky Dory and Aladdin Sane albums are better than the newer more "pop" stuff
I agree 100%
@@OblivionGate But worse than his Berlin era.
@@sexysadie2901 Agreed. The Berlin albums are easily the most unique and fascinating pieces of work he put out in his entire career. In my opinion, at least.
If you haven't seen him in Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" you're really missing out. The kids will love it too, thought it might be a bit scary for the under 6 crowd. His songs on there are magical.
Personal fav
Or at least Voodoo
Best. Film. Ever
What kind of magic spell to use?
I've gone through 5 copies of DVD with this movie LOL! I LOVE IT and so do my kids and now my grandson will grow up with it
This may sound weird, but so many 80s pop songs had a sax solo that we pretty much expected it. We loved it.
Young Americans Will give you an eargasm, it's got plenty of sax. I'm 60 Anglo Italian and cried like a baby... even more than when me old man died. Peace from England ✌️
More Bowie classics for ya: Rebel Rebel, Suffragette City, Changes, Young Americans (killer sax in that one) and Ziggy Stardust.
I prefer the term shape shifter to describe Bowie over the word chameleon because a chameleon blends into its environment & Bowie did anything BUT blend in. When you look at images of him in his different personas & styles you get completely different energies / vibes from him that makes you feel like you are looking at completely different people (his distinctive eyes give him away). Rob & Amber, you have to delve more into his lengthy catalog to see this better for yourselves, and I do hope you do! 👍✌😁❤
Amen! And go BACK if you want to witness the birth of an entirely different, ummm not only genre (Glam Rock) but also the paving stones for the various persona to follow - Allad Insane, Halloween Jack, White Plastic Soul with Luther Vandross & Ava Cherry, The Thin White Duke, The DJ. He created and gave away so many styles or genres of music for generations and was completely profound and influential. Bowie was not a chameleon. He was a shy songwriter who acted out as other personas in order to sing in front of people. Much later in his career when he became himself, David Robert Jones. Yea, yes Space Oddity, but the next one should be Starman - Top of the Pops, 1972. The World had NEVER seen anything like it before. You really will have your mouths open. Bowie made it okay to be different. Men and women alike still weep over his loss.
I was blessed and highly favored. I saw him 11 times starting in '74.
👍😎 Very Well Said
Well he did change styles to fit the era......his 60s hippy stage, his 70s glam stage, late 70s early 80s New Romantic stage etc. So chameleon is quite apt really.
@@Markhypnosis1 He didn't change styles to fit the era, his "glam" style has nothing to do with the style other glam artists wore, and of course, his looks in late 70s and early 80s have nothing to do with the new romantics, who wore a totally different kind of style. So again, chameleon is no appropriate because he never blended in.
The New Romantic style was created by Bowie devotees who were directly influenced by him. London's Blitz Club was at the start of it, from what I understand. He used people from the club in his "Ashes to Ashes" video.
Amber, we all did that dance in the 80s with him. He got married to Iman & they had a little girl.
David Bowie! One of the biggest music superstars in history! His death was a punch in the gut and a kick in the teeth. My all-time favorite!
This is 1983. It was a huge comeback year for him. 3 huge hits off that album. By this point, he'd been in the business 15 years and already had dozens of hits
Space Odyssey should next for David Bowie
David Bowie was called "The Long Thin Duke" and "rock's greatest chameleon" because of how he was always changing his look. When he first came out in the 70's he was in drag, then Ziggy, then the dapper suits.
"Thin white duke"::)
Bowie was already almost 30years in his carreer at this point... you have no idea the different looks and personnas he had before and After that!!!! It's insane...
Essential Bowie to react to would include "Space Oddity" and "Heroes"...I would like to see "Ashes to Ashes" and "Rebel Rebel"...The next one if you really liked this one should be "Let's Dance"...
RIP David you are missed.
Glad to see you guys finally clicking with David Bowie! The man's a genius. One of the greatest musicians to ever live. That will make more sense as you go deeper into his catalog. You've only scratched the surface. Plus, you have yet to do his most classic hits from the 70s like "Life on Mars," Heroes," "Changes," or Young Americans." From the 80s, you'd probably appreciate "Let's Dance" and "China Girl."
Or Blackstar, that song blew me away in the few days between the day the album was released and David's death. I found the song intensely moving even before I knew he'd died, but after that it just felt like a gift from someone who knew his time was up. Everyone should hear this song, even if it makes them cry. x
That was a speechless moment for Bowie fans. He dropped blackstar and died 3 days later.
1983 - 2023
Check out "YOUNG AMERICANS", "CHINA GIRL", "SUFFRAGETTE CITY", "LET'S DANCE", "CHANGES" and "DANCING IN THE STREET" by this ICONIC LEGEND - the late, great David Bowie was way ahead of his time... and to watch him perform live was an incredible experience.
You need to listen to Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and “Ashes to Ashes” then listen to Peter Schilling’s “Major Tom” (preferably the English version so you aren’t lost). These songs are tied together.
I love Ashes to Ashes. Did you know that Major Tom's a junkie?
I’m glad you brought up Ashes to Ashes.
And Blackstar, where Major Tom made his final appearance.
Bowie was fantastic and for another slick dressed and outstanding voice Robert Palmer
Bowie owned the planet back then. This was him at the heights of his great power. It was a good time to be young.
I was obsessed with Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ as a little girl. It still holds up today as a fantastic song.
Such a diversity of great music in Bowie's catalog!! Stevie Ray Vaughan played guitar on this track.

I LOVE THIS SONG.....BOWIE RULES!!!......this was his first truly sober album after almost a decade of being totally messed up on drugs (and he stayed sober for the rest of his life)-anyway, I’m an artist and sober now for 4 years-and everything they say about ur brain clearing, and ur creativity EXPLODING is completely true, and Bowie was experiencing that here--brilliant song
I,edited my comment .....I,accidentally typed a “year of being messed up on drugs”.....I meant to say “a decade”
Good luck with your new life, bro - Our HONESTY is PRECIOUS....
@@vincentvancraig Well done staying sober. 👍
@Vincentvancraig Congratulations on your sobriety!👍🏻
“Rebel Rebel” and “I’m afraid Americans” are two other great Bowie songs….along with MANY others, lol
I’m afraid of Americans with Trent Rezner is awesome.
I'm Afraid of Americans is probably one of my all-time favorite songs... Gotta check that video out!
@@barndude5562 The video is badass
@@williammelaniegappmayer2655 And it really shows some of his stretch.
"I'm Afraid of Americans."
David Bowie himself is a good saxophone player, he played it since he was 13. Some of the sax solos is his song he played himself.
I HOPE BY NOW YOU HAVE ALLHIS MUSIC, ANOTHER ICON TO ME! RIP DAVID!!
He did Under Pressure with Queen 💛 Bowie also had 2 different color eyes.
Chameleon describes Bowie pretty well. He had a long career and went through many different sounds and looks. Heroes, rebel rebel, suffragette city, space oddity and the Jean genie are just a few I would recommend listening to. The guy had a lot of good songs. While I’m thinking about Bowie I’ll relay this info. Although he might have had more popular songs, my favorite is “Heroes” because of the rebellious tone it strikes. My favorite rendition is the half English, half German version.
Heroes is my favourite Bowie ❤ but love them all. Also love Man Who Fell To Earth and some of his more obscure tracks like Kooks (about having a baby) and Wild Is The Wind. Too many great Bowie tracks to list!
@@JoTracy So true, way too many great songs to just choose one! It's like trying to choose your favorite child haha I'm 55 and can remember so well where I was when I first heard his music. It was a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth into adulthood. For me, he is/was a rare star🌟 that we were all blessed to have had shining on us for the time he did. When he died, for a time, I felt this sense of emptiness, vacancy, a sort of void in my heart, my soul. 😢💔
Agreed. This clip is from his “Thin, White Duke” period. I think Nile Rodgers from CHIC & an Uber producer in his own right, produced this album

"Let's Dance" & "China Girl" were his hits around that time also. "Blue Jean" as well. Great song and video.
David Bowie - "Sorrow", "Sound And Vision".
Heroes! Space Oddity! Suffragette City! Let’s Dance! So many great Bowie songs! 😁❤️
The tour was called the “Serious Moonlight tour!” Hence the balloons!
David Bowie and Mick Jagger singing 'Dancing in The Street' - two for the price of one, great video too, they released the single to raise money for Live Aid in 1985. Space Oddity is genius otherwise, Let's Dance is a classic. Changes is probably my all time favourite. Absolute Beginners is brilliant and often overlooked. All The Young Dudes is perfection. He was such a huge part of the soundtracks to peoples lives.
Changes is my fav too.
One of my favorite Bowie songs. 80's
Lost in the greatness that is Bowie and the brilliance of Nile Rogers is the Drumming of phenom Tony Thompson of Chic, Power Station, Madonna to name a few…But next song should be “Let’s Dance”..
This song, and the others on Let's Dance were orchestrated and arranged by Nile Rogers, which accounts for the slickly surfaced sound compared with earlier albums.
Nile Rodgers produced a lot of hits in the 80's, like Madonna, Duran Duran, Diana Ross, and INXS(Original sin)
And Niles brought along super drummer Tony Thompson
When Bowie was making the movie, "The Man Who Fell to Earth", they filmed at Fenton Lake, north of Jemez Springs, NM. I was living in a travel trailer (my husband was working on a geothermal rig there) and he had heard of the filming. We drove up to the lake and hubby got out to ask/see what was going on. We were parked next to a van and as I was sitting there waiting the door opened up and I had eye contact with what looked like an alien with white skin (paint) all over him. I think he was naked. But he smiled at me and the door quickly shut. My husband came back and told me Bowie was in the van! The movie was interesting.
The spot where he fell to Earth is on my friend’s property in Madrid, NM.

Bowie is a pure legend. 💕
Saw Bowie back in the olden days (circa 1975). Great showman and one of the most theatrical shows I had ever been to - except for Jethro Tull, perhaps.
"Suffragette City"
"Rebel, Rebel"
"Space Oddity"
"Ashes To Ashes" ("We know Major Tom's a junkie")
"Ziggy Stardust" Actually, the whole album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders From Mars" is one of a handful of album that really should be listened to straight through. At least once anyway.
He changed with the drugs in his earlier to mid 1970s period, but still one of the all time greats! RIP Starman.
