As Harley is semi-main of mine, I'm offended that you used the term "zoning character", fast mix-ups and tantrum stance mindgames yet you think she should sit full screen? I am offended.
Harley has a lot more of zoning tools is what dink is getting at. If your opponent doesn't fare well against zoners then you as Harley would do significantly better by zoning them out rather doing 50/50. I will agree however she doesn't have to fully zone every match because of her 50/50, massively plus on block hyenas, and her slide covering a lot of distance.
Theyungcity23 Harley can't really zone with her buttons because her normals aren't the greatest. I do get where your coming from with zoning being good ranged buttons but not so much in harley's case. (ex: takeda in mkx and brainiac) Unless you mean her slide which is all around unsafe for the most part and I really wouldn't consider it the greatest way to zone with.
All options off tantrum stance are unsafe whereas almost all her zoning ones are. Her Overhead is very slow and not a 50/50 by any means. She has tools to deal up close as she struggles against stronger zoners. If you want to play her casually as an upclose character against your friends or to impress your grandmother go ahead, but competitive wise, she is strongest at full range
I have played Harley ever since the first Inj and personally I play her more as a rushdown character with the option of zoning. I just repeatedly use her F2 or her B2 as mixup into around 450 damage combo or I end combo with 2 U3 into trait to force them to block and guess another mix-up. And so far I haven't really ran into any real trouble that I couldn't figure out how to get around.
I think Harley Quinn isn't a zoning character but a character that can move from mid distance with her far reaching attacks to long distance with her bullets.
I wish they gave her a quicker overhead because I try and play a more aggressive Harley and the thing that stops my mix ups is the forward 2 from a negative 2 drop attack. If the negative 2 attack is blocked and you try and do f2 to follow up most characters and do down 1 to interrupt it. It would be a great mix up if she had another overhead or if the f2 was quicker
ikr that's her problem. everyone pokes out of the overhead, especially because it's range is terrible. they should make it forward advancing or make it faster.

Some setups I do include doing a d2 into hyena and then a string that leads into a tick grab like back 12 or 33 cancel into the grab. Also her jump 2 is crazy good for crossups when set up with hyena as the hyena come in front and at certain distances allows the jump 2 to cross up with little time to react. Also 112 is a hard knockdown that can be special cancelled aka preferably into hyena for massive pressure. Her mid projectile is plus when mb so doing hyena into mb mid projectile into hyena then mb cupcakes into another mid projectile is a really good zoning pattern as all of them almost jail into one another.
Hey Dink great vid just have a couple of questions: 1: Once you close the distance whats your go to string? I try to go for 12 but the high starter is punished most of the times and her other options dont have that much of a quick startup nor reach. 2: What should be the general gameplan against heavier zoners?
1: B2 has great range and is a low, I would try to force them to misspace a move and punish into full combo with that, otherwise B12 covers great distance 2: Zoners are really tough for Harley, I would try to find gaps in the zoning to throw trait and then run in behind it. Lots of Air Gunshots help here as well
I tried playing this (harley) and idk why but im having a hard time to understand the mechanics of this TT maybe bc the only fighting game that i played is tekken and theyre def different

Everyone talking about her command grab and is not even plus on hit so it basucally resets the neutral and since she dosent have a 6 frame poke she wouldnt be able to enforce shit her 6 frame move is a high that can be poked under so stop sucking on her command grab shit is not all that ima fucking harley player and in midscreen ill usually end with a hyenna setup rather than a restand in the corner i would fo the same or enforce a cross up or non cross up jump in setups i wouldn't also try to use the overhead at all unless opponent is heavily conditioned cuz otherwise they can mash on that shit or not even let you start it up since is slow and stubby she is a zoner with close up tools kinda like fate although fates better in every way but thats just what i think and IGothxm too which is the best Harley player out there

well there are slightly different definitions of zoning. You can zone a person with mid range pokes. It isn't just long distance specials.

Do you use joystick or dpad? I have a really hard time with getting proper directional. Also very nube to fighters
