    This was so helpful! I can't wait to try it. I've been letting it grow from a DIY dry cut I did in January 2021 (with micro snips here and there) Now I know how to do a simple dusting trim with it wet, thanks to you! My hair is very similar to yours in density and curl pattern-that's why I love your videos🥰💕😍

      Hi Wendy! I’m so glad this is helpful! It can take so long to recover from a cut 😅 At least we can keep it looking healthy in the process.
      Thank you for watching! ♥️
      Wishing you a beautiful weekend!

    My hair curls more at the bottom than the top. Pulling my hair straight (the hairstylist) ended up with having longer hair on top than the bottom - a total screwed up result. I've been cutting my own hair for many years now and is grateful that curly hair is so forgiving.

    Also with my curly haired daughters married and moved far away, my youngest son cut a 1/2 in tail that was left behind in the back after I was styled and dried. 😂. Helps to have a helper.

    I appreciate this so much. My hair also "has a lot going on", and it is difficult. I cannot duplicate what the stylists do when I get home.

      Thank you for your feedback! 🌺 You’re not alone! It’s common to have several curl patterns going on. Dry cuts can also be super helpful to see the variation in spring factor & trim accordingly.

    This was perfect timing. I just did the back yesterday! I also do it the same as you, because I also have lower density hair and struggle with keeping the back looking fuller. Not too many layers works for me. I also need to keep my front bang area longer than most people would because they are tight springy curls. Thanks for showing us your process.

      Thank you Minna! What great timing! You know your hair so well! I keep trying to keep length, but I have to accept that lower density hair is not going to change…I think I’ll wait another month or two before I decide what cut to do next. I need a lot of transition time for my hair these days ☺️

    This video is very helpful! I appreciate that you shared the difference in densities and textures around your hair. You really do have to know which pares of your hair play more loose or more tightly curled. That is a great tip for face framing layers, to take a diagonal section. The hair at my front hairline and where the face framing layers would go, is very sparse. I completely understand what you’re describing. I feel my hair is similar in density and curl pattern to yours. I wish I had the layers you’ve got though. I desperately need some volume at the top and back, but I’m all one length right now.

      Hi Desiree! I’m so glad this was helpful! I’m due for a salon visit now to shorten up my layers again. But this trimming helps to keep my ends fresh in the meantime. If you’d like to try layers, ask for long layers at first. Just a little shaping can make a big difference! I hope you’ll love it!

    So helpful! I needed a trim before heading out for vacation, but don't have the $ for a proper cut right now. This video guided me through the process so well. I'll definitely be rewatching it!

    Some interesting tips. My husband uses a similar technique, but he uses three alligator clips, he sections my hair just behind my ear on each side, the puts everything in back in one clip. My hair is elbow length and thick, so he takes small increments each time he lets down a section. I get caped, and he trims my hair dry so he can see and remove split ends as well. My hair grows faster on the right side of my head, so I have him trim my hair every couple months, so it keeps my ends neat.

      Awesome! Thank you for sharing this too!! It’s so helpful to hear his method for your longer hair ✂️ You are so lucky to have his help!! ♥️

      I certainly appreciate it, he loves my hair long, so I know he will not cut off too much. I have him braid my hair for me, he learned how to do French, Dutch, fishtail, side, wraparound and variations of the different braids. I get compliments on my hair and asked how I do the braids. I tell them that I take a seat and tell him what I want. My best friend commented that my hair always looks good and asked where I had it done, when I told her, she asked if she could come over and watch him do it. He was fine with it and asked me if I wanted him to cut her hair, and I told him yes, if she asks. Well she watched him trim my hair, asked him a couple questions, and as he was finished with my hair, she said, “I’m next!” and took a seat and got caped. He trimmed her hair as she asked, she was pleased with the results and asked if she could book her next appointment. So she regularly has him trim her hair, been over five years now. I am ok with sharing my stylist.

    You did a great job! I have low density hair too and am starting to trim it myself because I’ve had so many bad haircuts. Did you not like your Devacuts? I haven’t liked mine.

    • @TheCurlStory
      @TheCurlStory  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! My best cuts have been wet cuts at the salon. I haven’t liked the dry curly cuts because the spring factor of my curls can change and I think my hair looks best when my layers are even. The DevaCut was just too uneven and choppy looking on me. I had to keep trimming a little here and there on my own just to even it out each day…
      I need some shaping soon, but I’m liking to do these little trims every couple of months to keep it looking fresh in the meantime. 🤍

      @The Curl Story , hi, I found your video on your Devacut. I had a similar experience with Devacuts, but mine looked worse! I’m learning how to cut my own hair now because whenever I get professional cuts, there is something about them I don’t like. I have a hard time with my hair getting the perimeter to look full because of uneven curl patterns and fine low density hair.

    • @TheCurlStory
      @TheCurlStory  2 роки тому

      @@Dogandcatmom51 Getting that strong perimeter has been eluding me ☺️ I love my layers for volume on the top of my hair, but I need to keep the density on the bottom too. A traditional wet cut with long layers has given me the best results so far.

    • @Dogandcatmom51
      @Dogandcatmom51 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheCurlStory , yes, without any layers, I don’t think my face looks as good because my hair doesn’t bring out my face at all when it’s not layered.

    1:14 this middle gap is so annoying it just spoil the whole look of of curly hair
    I am going through the same problem

    • @TheCurlStory
      @TheCurlStory  Рік тому

      Right?! I always need to remind my stylist (when I go for a reshaping) to not thin out my ends…it’s something they seem to do all the time if I don’t specifically request for them not to. ✂️ otherwise, I’ll need to cut off all those thinned ends afterwards as they just end up looking out of place.
