Really enjoyed this. Amp sounds great!! I had no experience with Z amps until my friend bought a Jaz 20/40. The thing sounds incredible!!! And the build quality is outstanding! Ever since I've had an eye out for an EZG50 at the right price....
2 of these amps came into the country. The matching head and Cab which I nabbed and just a head. I did wonder who got their hands on that. Congratulations, its a fantastic amp! 🎉
SG tones were awesome, as you’d expect. But man, that Tele blew me away, this might be the ultimate Tele/Vox tone. I hope he’ll make a half-power version of this!
Very nice. It is indeed a passion project I think for Dr. Z, and I like him for many of the same reasons you do. Regarding the Fryette re-amper: I have one of those, but I find for attenuation purposes that the Tone King Ironman II, with it's capacitor network, most accurately reflects the amp-speaker impedance relationship and is most true to the unattenuated sound. All attenuators are a compromise, but the Tone King is my favorite and I've tried basically all of them :).
Oh really - I found the tone king sucked the top end away and took away a lot of dynamics, and I don't get that feeling with the fryette. I also prefer the continuous sweep of the fryette attenuation as opposed to clicked steps! I've had the tone king iron man 2 in both a sky king and its own standalone unit. But, tbh, whatever you prefer is best for you! We're lucky to have all the options :)
Love the Tele and SG tones!, Strat sounds amazing too. Are you still enjoying this amp? I have a DR. Z 28MKII and love it! I'm wondering how the Z-80 compares to your Two Rocks and the Tone King Royalist? Thanks for making this video!
Perhaps it's no surprise, but good god this thing is voiced perfectly for country (both old and new). Wouldn't be surprised if these started showing up around Nashville often.
Happy new year all!
Dr. Z has that Mid-West vibe. He seems like a nice guy. Another cool amp.
Brilliant James thank you so much for the excellent demo. I hope the Z 80 gives you years of inspiration .
Thank you Mike, and thank you so much for building this wonderful, inspiring amps!

Thanks Dr Z, really appreciate that! It'll be interesting to try it one day with the speaker you chose too. cheers

I would be shocked, SHOCKED, if they didn't. 😲
