- I am starting up a new project with my 1996 Ford Thunderbird! It's already coyote swapped, but I'm upgrading the engine and supercharger. Follow along as I talk about the history behind these cars. The MN12/FN10 Thunderbird, Cougar and Mark VIII. Additionally, I go over the car as it currently sits, the PARTS that are going in the build, and lastly, the GOAL for the project! I have a totally stock 87 TBird Turbo Coupe I'm considering Coyote swapping. I'm interested in what all is needed.
Do a UA-cam search, there's a guy that Coyote Swapped a black turbocoupe. He did a really nice swap.

i got one of those because i wanted to put the transmission in the truck, but it doesn't have the same tail housing for the 4x4... so i just put tire chains on it and use it as is. it stalls in 2nd gear, but if the 4.6 had 10psi on it; it would work better.

Shape car I like those old birds. I’ve had a few. Currently a 1996 lx. Question l Are those Ford Fusion wheels? Question 2 the price compared Coyote to total 4,6 rebuild?
The wheels are 13-14 Mustang track pack. The Coyote swap will be more compared to a 4.6 rebuild. All depends on your knowledge and fab

Considering those cars are pretty light, how can you get better traction?
The MN12 Thunderbird is around 3600-3800 pounds. They are kinda on the heavy side. Which is good for traction. I have 295 tire on the back. At the track some drag radials. To eliminate wheel hop you can replace the rubber bushings with UHMW in the rear suspension and IRS. Lots of bracing to be had as well. Check out Supercoupe Performance website.
What is the best vehicle to swipe the coyote from?
The best or the cheapest? The best coyote would be the Mustang GEN3 IMO. Some people would say GEN2. The cheapest would be a GEN1 F150. You can find them at the pick and pull and Facebook marketplace cheap now.

Yes, there's a Coyote swap Fusion out there. Couple videos of it running around. Do a google search.

Where did you order the tubular subframe from? According to AJE website, it doesn't exist lol and someone on tccoa said they received email from AJE stating they no longer offer anything for the Mn12 chassis. But I found another video about that subframe that was uploaded 2 weeks ago. So where the heck do I get one!? 😂😂
Unfortunately, you answered your own question. AJE doesn't make them anymore. They had a group purchase last year and ended early 2023.

I’m looking to get a gen 2 coyote procharge it but can I use the stock ecu if it comes with it and just get it tuned ? And I want mine manual also

Josh, this is going to be good and look forward to your videos. I'm eyeballs deep finishing up a Coyote swap on my '95 TBird. I have modified the stock K-member since no aftermarket K-member was available when I started. I'm going to make another adjustment on stock member but you got me thinking about 3rd version from AJE. I have my Coyote in now and it's on center with car. Did you know the stock 4.6 was not on center? It was almost 1 inch towards passenger side off center. My engine is touching the wire harness that runs alongside the "driver shock tower" so I'm looking to move engine over a little and save or keep that harness in place. I'm assuming the AJE will keep engine on center? Do you know? I'm so close to starting now, just waiting on a tune. My coyote has a Gen5 Whipple which is what I think is under your towel, LOL.
Hey Andy, I saw your build thread on TCCoA. Looks amazing! I was going to comment, but I'm having log in issues again. Give AJE a call, they might still be selling them? I would assume the AJE is on center, we will have to wait a see how the fitment goes. Might have a Whipple, gonna have to wait and see my friend! Love the work on your Thunderbird. 👍🏻

Most people swap the gen 3 bottom for a gen 2 cause the gen 3 is garbage
