Thanks for the video, that jig is now on my list. The Mark VIII's have larger front brakes that were also used on 96 and 97 thunderbird with the sport option.
Off to the garage I go!!!! Been sitting on a set of drilled mustang disks for a couple years now, didn’t think they would fit the early chassis! Thanks Tim!
I have been contemplating the mustang hub swap on my SC. I picked up all the parts to do the PBR brake swap so maybe I'll plan the hubs at the same time.
With the Mark Viii spec spindles, after the SN95 hub change, you can run 13" Cobra rotors and Cobra dual piston calipers and brackets on the cheap. But you're prob going to need 17's. I was going to do that to my 94 Lincoln Mark Viii, but instead of the 13s, I'm going with 14" GT500 Mustang s197 rotors with s197 dual piston calipers. W/bracket relocation kit. Will be running 18s to clear. I will beef up the rears to gt500 also. The setup will really help stop this lead Sled!
I'll have content soon on front brake calipers. I recently pickup up caddy brembos, relocation mounting kit and a gt500 front rotors. Anything is better than the OEM front calipers for sure.
I have always been curious about doing this swap. I see how easy and cheap it is. I want to go with a set of 18 245's on all corners and lower the car. I'm still trying to find the right rim and i'm calling it Euro muscle, a rim that has kind of euro looks but also matches the cars "muscle" soul. A few i have spotted, but until that day happens i'll keep window shopping
It it does, i was thinking of just finding some rims that would bolt up, nothing and or too expensive. I'll have to start sourcing some parts. I read that you have to modify the rear knuckle when doing the hub swap on the rear. @@628productions
The front is all mustang parts for the hub and the rotor. I'm sure you could redrill those also if you wanted but the cost of a pair of hubs and stang rotors is minimal. For the rear you can redrill the tbird rotor and hub OR buy 03-04 Cobra hubs and press into the rear knuckle. At this point you would need cobra rear rotors and also a relocation kit for the calipers from Super Coupes Unlimited owner Dave Dalke. Also you can redill the tbird hubs in the rear and then if you still want larger brakes, go cobra rear rotors and relocation brakes...they also come with a hub centric ring as the bore on the rear hubs are different between mustang and bird. Any confusion let me know, happy to help. GO Blue!
Do you know why my drivers side rear wheel tilts in at the top ? It wears the tire out on the inside edge ... Thank you in advance . I have two 95s .. What about wheel adapters instead of what you did ?
I know these cars are prone to do that if they're lowered as the upper control arm mount doesn't really accommodate the change in geometry. Bill at Super Coupe Performance sells a tubular control arm that fixes that. I've never used hub adapters so no experience to answer. 🤙🏼
Ok, here's a dumb question I suppose, but it would mean a lot to get some advice... I have a 95 And a 96 tbird. Working on restomodding the 95... but it has rear drum brakes and the 96 has disc, which i want to swap... any way you could help me out with some directions/video? I got these cars to learn mechanic skills- which i don't really have despite learning a lot. What's the easiest, cheapest way for a non mechanic to get the disc's swapped with the drums and vice versa?
@@densley1313 here is a tech article from tccoa. It outlines the process and is less involved than typing it out. www.tccoa.com/articles/brakes/drum-to-disc/index.shtml Hope that helps. I only have SC which all came with disc so unable to film the swap content otherwise. Thanks for stopping in and good luck 🤙🏼
many paths to different things... installing a Chrysler AAM in a tbird is a 2 week shop job not a hobby 😫 honest pain filled experience. but the thing is ratted for a 800lbft diesel truck engine with a 12.4 first gear end ratio and a 13.6 option being 11'000lbft at the wheel. distilled non-sense
pls keep doing these i have a 96 t bird and plan on restoring mine as well, so far i have a complete suspension overhaul
Will do, glad these are helpful 🤙🏼

Good call out on the front brakes, I forgot that detail. Jig is definitely worth the money spent.

Right on!
That was a great video!! I needed to know all of this for my build. Your new shop is already paying off!! I like where this is going.
Appreciate it, new shop is a game changer for sure. Glad to hear this was helpful. 🤙🏼
Loving the new shop! O and the black bird is looking so sharp!
Shops a game changer, and the black bird has really transformed from its former self. 🤙🏼

May as well if you're doing rotors
Good wheel choice, I went with the same wheels, except 18x9 and 18x10
Can't beat a black saleen 🤙🏼
I just got back in the game with a 98 LSC and I'm looking forward to getting the hub swap after i get the transmission issue solved.
Nice set of wheels really makes the Mark VIII look sharp!
Thank you! Very helpful and short right to it!

The right rim definitely makes or breaks the look of these cars. 5x4.5 though expands options 10 fold with everything out their for the Mustangs.

Great video.... question I have a 97 LX 4.6...can I fit 15x8. 5x4.5 bolt) wheels on there correct?
15in wheels were a stock option on the 3.8 v6 cars. Id assume it would all depend on what brake setup you're running for clearance.
Do you have to do the Cobra hub and rotor swap after drilling the new bolt pattern...? Or was that what you opted to do...? Thank you GO BLUE!!!!

@628productions thank you sir
my rotors go with the veins facing forward Tim
Where did you get the rear caliper adapter brackets?
Dave dalke at super coupes unlimited aka SCU. Can find him on social media or sccoa.com
@628productions thanks for the info!
Good video Tim, is a jeep allowed in that garage sometime?
Absolutely!
On the white Thunderbird you did and the rest of the other cars you mentioned does it have to be a rear hub from a Cobra or could it be from gt

For clarification- if I want to run fox dual calipers in the front, what spindle do I need? I have a 96 xl
@@loganstaal3162 your 96 spindles will work fine. The 93 and up are what are needed for the hub swap.
