I think your builds are extremely bad ass !! Going to install my slam latches today , just finishing my 12 foot aluminum, you inspire me daily , thank you so much:) keep it up brother!
I'm just about at the stage to carpet and latch. After watching this a couple months ago and started my project I did have a question regarding the hole you drilled. If you were to do this again would you pre drill the hole prior to putting carpet on? I bring this up because after sealing your wood it seems that you defeat the purpose of doing so by exposing the wood to draw the hole.
anything out there for dash hatches? I don't need to lock it with a key, but it needs a latch that won't wobble around. I searched at the hardware store for maybe some child proof cabinet latches, but couldn't find anything low profile enough.
Great video Mike! Happy to be a part of the TB nation FB page! alot of cool people and great ideas!

Where can I find some latches over the counter? Like first latch you showed very simple.
nice and professional introduction and show for boat #latchhandle
Do you think adding magnets to the standard pull hatches would be a good idea? About to start rebuilding my 14ft Sea Nymph
Mike, can you explain your drilling technique ? did you run the hole saw in reverse when you started to cut the carpet then in forward for the wood ?
glad u changed that thumbnail bro lol
Michael Lopez wasn't a boat with tb nation was maybe wen u lifted weights or like a selfie , did u used to lift heavy ?
It looks as if these latches could be opened from the inside. Is that the case? I am considering to use them as a lock for a ultra miniature camper.
very good in info. keep them coming
A square broaching tool would make easy work of your square holes especially since your using aluminum.
Cool information!!
