    Just found your channel. I love the craftsmanship and thoughtful layouts. Keep them coming. I think if you started welding you might lose some interest from the average DIYers, but if you preface that everything can still be done with rivets I'm not sure it'd make much of a difference.

    Just a suggestion, but instead of putting your aluminum flat strip across the top of your frame work to tie it all together why not put them on the under side of the top frame section then set it on your supports that way the entire top frame work will all be flush

    Great video !!! What gauge aluminum angle did you use ? Saw your vid on aluminum vs wood , I love the versatility of the aluminum and the smaller footprint of framing it allows !!! Was the aluminum expensive? I’m thinking of doing something like this but might substitute some of that angle with some 20 gauge 1 5/8 metal studs if it’s cheaper than the angle

    Boat companies target anyone with even so-so credit that is impulsive and can be talked into a loan; that is not just wealthy or pro fisherman.They want the masses who live above their means. Much better to build one for 1/4 to 1/3 price of new. Get the satisfaction of building / designing something and become proficient at all the skills it requires to do so. Also, like Michael, you can spend time with your sons and daughters; time you can never get back. Love your channel......

    Dude I've been wanting a small bass boat so bad. Just big enough for two people, but yer talking a minimum of 10k. For a basic bare bones boat. Your boats are inspiring! I live in Northern CA (Napa) and would be happy just to have a bass boat that could fish Lake Hennessy ( which is small). Fishing the Delta would be nice but you can't have what you can't afford right!? Are you in California and do you have instagram ?

  • @braddmmattson9080
    @braddmmattson9080 7 років тому

    you mentioned not having a welder but watching a couple of your shows you use aluminum welding rod, ever try that for your frames? doesnt seem like it would take that much longer to stitch together some welds than drilling and riveting, or would the heat distort the metal too much.

  • @phernandez4446
    @phernandez4446 6 років тому

    So man, how do you attach it to the boat itself - you rivet it on the top? I also see you have put aluminum plates at the bottom that look like they have rivets. Is that right? So you add a bunch of holes with rivets on the bottom and the side?
    I have been looking for a good explanation for for the flooring and framing with the foam inserts but people stop before they say after they put the foam in how do they attach or put the flooring in or how do you keep the foam down.
    you have great videos but want to start my boat mod this summer and this is the last couple of questions I have.

    Just acquired a 2008 Tracker Grizzly 1448 that's like new. I'd like either raise the front decking 2 3/4" so I can lower the foot pedal and maybe add a few shallow stows or sink a foot pedal into the aluminum deck. I'd also like to extend the front deck 2' to give me more room and a couple stow boxes. Any suggestions?

    Help me out here. Doesn't cramming foam in and around everything under the deck help with floatation when it's sinking, Right? A boat floats because of displacement of water. Should I be putting foam board in every open space on my build?
    Also Im building a typical build with a 20 hp motor on a 1436.... it seems with all this aluminum framing materials that the boat will be much heavier than the 3 bench seated 1436 that it once was. I took out the middle and bow seats because of the possible weight gain. I assume the boat will float a tad deeper in the water but how deep is too much?
