Been watching/studying alot of livewell plumbing. I gotta say your system is probably the best and simplest I've seen. I will probably use your system for my 80 gal. tank build but add pvc spraybar to inlet. Thank's for the vid.
The plug you seek is in a bin at ace hardware. also , ad a light and a small dipnet. also add a few loops on hose surrounded by ice and a tiny bluetooth speaker so your bait stays happy.yea i know it souds crazy but thats how i role
I think if you added a venturi to you recirc fitting then you wouldn't need a mister bubbles. do a search for fish tank venturi and you will get the idea. also if you got reinforced vinyl tubing it wouldn't kink and when regular vinyl tubing gets hot it tends to collapse. love what your doing keep it up.I'm headed to dmv now to title and register my first boat a 14 ft mirrocraft
Heres what I would do. I would place the 1 1\2" input at the bottom of the livewell with a venturi pump. The 2 1\2 output towards the top once the water gets to that level it will drain itself more efficiency. As far as keeping livestock alive constant water exchange from the lake is a good idea as it is creating water movement and better gas exchange so your fish or bait don't suffacate from lack of oxygen also using an airstone will help to pump air into the water creating oxygen for your livestock.
Can't believe you only have 3k subscribers what with all these great videos you have posted. So much good info. Keep it up, I'm sure the subscriber count can only go up at some point. Not sure what kind of fishing you do, but perhaps throw some fishing vids up too?
Mike, Here is a livewell method you probably already know, but that could be helpful to some of your subscribers... To your livewell, add a 1-1/2 inch thru-fitting 2" - 3" from the top of the livewell, and run a 1-1/2" hose out horizontally toward the side or back of the boat. You have to choose the closest or best spot that works for your particular layout. Horizontal is good, or maybe a small amount of drop, like an inch, if the run is long, and put a 1-1/2" thru-hull fitting at that point. What this does, is allows the livewell to fill, and then the excess flows out without overflowing. This way, you can run the livewell pump continuously, keeping your fish and bait frisky in hot weather, without the need for babysitting. Obviously, drilling any hole in a boat takes a lot of thinking, but once you do it, you'll probably never go back to recirc. Putting screen fittings inside the tank is helpful if you use minnows, to keep them from getting sucked into the pumps or out of the overflow. Also, your concern about the screen fitting coming off the pump inlet is a good one. A little bead of clear G.E. silicone will secure it, but is easy to get off when you need to. You can also use a nitrile O-ring from Harbor Freight, but I personally like the bead of clear silicone the best. I own a boat repair shop, and have to be extra careful that nothing ever falls off on it's own. That would be bad for business! I do this stuff for a living, but don't know everything. I appreciate guys like you who share your experiences with others. Very often, I'll have a customer who needs to do something in their boat, and I'll just tell them to look it up on UA-cam. This is a great resource, due to the many contributors who fill a real need!
That is true, if you have the pickup in the transom. They make a pickup scoop to fix that problem. They work well and push water nicely when running, even with the pump off. Basically, it's a tube that goes flush to the bottom of the transom. Don't let it go below the transom, or it will catch too much water and. Cause too much pressure. You can easily make your own, but the pre-made ones are easier.
Mike, Here is the water pickup tube I was talking about. $14.99, and they work great and are quick to install: www.boatersland.com/thmezwht1dp.html thmarine.com/ez-pump-advanced-water-pick-up-system They work very well, and solve the problem you described above. -Tony
Is it possible to do a build into a fiberglass boat? All I ever see is Jon and aluminum boat builds. I have a deep V fiberglass with nothing but a bench and an outboard... but not sure if I can do a build since no info available
John Wilder Yeah, that’s the big one. I got pulled over going into Idaho from Nevada, all they wanted to know was how long has my boat been dry and what bodies of water had it been in, and zebra mussels were what they were trying to keep out of their waters.
(I apologize for cluttering up your comment section. This comment was by accident. I also posted this on your LED video.) Mike. Here are some simple door switches that work great for hatches: www.google.com/shopping/product/10518556326800609102 I haven't seen all of your video yet, but I wire all of my compartment LED's to a switch on my console. Turn the switch on, and when you open any compartment, the light comes on for that compartment. Turn the switch off, and no power goes to them. Having a master switch is nice. That way, you are not using up battery power during the day, or at times when you don't want the light to come on. Maybe I'll do a video in the future, but hopefully, this is helpful. Thanks for taking the time to post. -Tony
Great video! Have you ever used flex seal? I Just posted a video of the live well I put in my boat. I framed it out of plywood and then waterproofed it using a can of roll on flex seal. I'm still iced in up north so I haven't held fish in it yet, but it doesn't leak and seems to work well!
Yeah?? It seems to be holding water really well, for now anyways. I did it more as an experiment and if it fails in the future I'll be using it for tackle storage. I definitely wouldn't trust Flex Seal on anything critical like a hull.
Flex seal is a good choice unfortunately people talk it down mainly because of the goofie Tv commercials however if you do a good prep and layer it at the appropriate drying times it will last a very long time. You must follow the instructions .
Mike, Here are a couple more high speed pickup ideas. You can buy them or make them yourself. This first one is made from a $3 vent fitting and a piece of aluminum angle: www.fishing.net.nz/forum/uploads/53939/Fishing_035.jpg This one connects to your existing fitting. It is store bought, but you can make it out of PVC.. You swivel it to adjust how much water you pick up: www.saukvalley.com/_internal/cimg!0/fh08pal0qb1ukf9j3t50ph83dmcw8q Here is another simple one to make with a piece of aluminum tubing. The angle isn't much, but it really grabs a lot of water: i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o556/SoberBrent/SoberBrent/Mowdy/IMG-20130814-00296_zps1db2c0d6.jpg I thought these would be helpful to others who haven't already plumbed their system. But in your case, I think the $14.99 TH scoop would be the best one. -Tony
Michael Lopez awesome! Want trying to sound conceded or anything. About to start my first build and I was curious if there was some reason you ran into that you couldn't do it that way. Thanks!
Think of it this way...you have a y on each side of the pump...one y runs to the tank for drain and to the hull for inlet...the other y runs to the tank for feed and to the hull for outlet. I would take a picture but I can't post here and my request has not been excepted to tbnation yet on facebook
Brandon Hakeneis I did try it and it did work but it ran I to some snags like...having to prime the pump and cost savings was minimal. So yes it works but there are better ways
Thanks Justin. I kinda figured the pump would need water for priming. I've had a 14 ft semi v for a few years and I am gonna start modifying it here in a couple weeks. I might just buy 2 pumps anyway, I found the tsunami ones for $16 online. I've gotten a lot of ideas from TBN and Mike^. That power pole he has on the new Yak is awesome!
Michael Lopez Yeah I just feel like a moron now after I put everything together, we’re you one of the founders of tiny boat nation? I’m on there and Texas tiny boat nation as well
Why would anyone need a livewell strictly for tournament fishing? Does nobody eat fish anymore? I certainly can't speak for everyone, but tournaments aren't the only reason to have a livewell. I've never practiced 'catch & release' or fished a tournament in my life, but I still need a livewell. How else do you get your groceries home? I don't catch & release, I catch & grease! Lol!

Man, I have no plans on modding a job boat anytime soon but these videos are so entertaining
Little tip, you can use a blow dryer to heat the nylon tube enough to form it to shape, eliminating the kinks in the tube. FWIW
Boy....you've come quite a ways from here haven't you. You're putting out some real pro content these days.

Another person who fishes in AZ! I get my boat tomorrow and have a house in a trailer park on the Colorado River

ace hardware has a huge variety of wingnut style plugs that work great on mine.
Ace always has those weird parts tou cant find at the big box stores..
I think you may be talking about Zebra musscles. One of the invasive species.
John Wilder
Yeah, that’s the big one. I got pulled over going into Idaho from Nevada, all they wanted to know was how long has my boat been dry and what bodies of water had it been in, and zebra mussels were what they were trying to keep out of their waters.
Do you know of any prefabricated all in one solutions for a livewell system with seats like at the back of some bass boats?
Nice work.
nice job nice boat. god bless.
dang! forgot to make playlists haha doing it now. i like how simple that was. boats looking great man!
right on man ! great video good information
Winning!
holy shiz Michael! very nice enginuety! I love it!

New subscriber & I also plan to throw coin at your Patreon... Truly amazing videos. Thank you!
What brand is the y gate and where did you get it from

another great video
What material did you make the cover of? Bought a boat without a cover...
Where’d you get the garden hose y-gate and fitting? Don’t see it in the amazon link.
Good video my only concern is that your hoses are kinked and tat is a friction point
On the bilge out is it set up automatically to not allow water back in?
would you please tell me where you get your aluminum for your boat deck framing ?
make sure you have a lot of vents for the gas tank to breath.
Will fiberglass resin be ok for the inside of the live well
How r u filling that live well? I don't see any tube running on the back of the boat to lake/river water?
I see now. Thanks. Btw really like ur work. Trying to get some tips so i can build my own

Where did you get your live well insert?
Is that just a reg toate u used for well
Anybody know where the y-valve is on amazon? I can’t find it on his page or anywhere else.
@@TinyBoatNation pls send me a link as well. thanks
Could't you accomplish the same thing with one pump and two valves?
Michael Lopez awesome! Want trying to sound conceded or anything. About to start my first build and I was curious if there was some reason you ran into that you couldn't do it that way. Thanks!

I would like to know if this works. I'm on a budget and only want to use 1 pump.

run your drill backwards once pilot pops through
the plastic inserts are just tubs from walmart right
Are you on tiny boat nation Facebook page?
Michael Lopez Yeah I just feel like a moron now after I put everything together, we’re you one of the founders of tiny boat nation? I’m on there and Texas tiny boat nation as well
Also I enjoy your videos, there is some really good insight and all of them and you’ve given me a lot of great ideas.
Michael Lopez they really are, I’m getting some great ideas for my 10 foot John boat!
Run your drill in reverse for plastics.

don't forget to turn off your fill pump huh?
Use 5200 it will never leak
