  • The nectar flow has vanished this week which leaves us with huge ! numbers in our hives with not a lot of work to be doing. We've taken the opportunity to make some more splits and asses our potential honey crop.
last weeks hot weather triggered a mass of swarms locally, reports of bees in gardens public places and even schools. We collected one locally and even caught a swarm on our driveway 😣

You can peel the cell walls off of the wax foundation on new comb to see the larvae better when grafting.

Great to see your homemade nuc boxes. It looks like it may turn out to be a good year for honey - after a grim start in April!

Yes fingers crossed, we've lots planned with some new crops also in the pipeline.
We just need this weather to continue playing ball.

I've just stumbled across your channel. Might be a good one for me to subscribe to as I'm based in Cumbria. Just getting into beekeeping myself so this year I'm purchasing my gear, Spring 2025 I shall be getting my bees.

Hi, Thanks you for tuning in.
Yes it could all be quite relevant to yourself as you are not far away from us.
We hope it to be more of a diary with a few tricks and cheats along the way 😀

Do you think you could do a short video on how your split boxes ate made. Im mainly interested in the roof and the yellow bit in the middle I assume is for a feeder, and also what feeder you use on them and for how long.
